1 ⲁ̅ ⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲁⲡⲟⲗⲗⲱ ϩⲛ ⲕⲟⲣⲓⲛⲑⲟⲥ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲁϥⲙⲉϣⲧ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲉⲧϩⲙ ⲡϫⲓⲥⲉⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲫⲉⲥⲟⲥ ⲁϥϩⲉ ⲉϩⲉⲛⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ
While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper country, came to Ephesus and found certain disciples.
2 ⲃ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲓ ⲡⲛⲁ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲣⲱ ϫⲉ ϣⲁⲣⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ϫⲓ ⲡⲛⲁ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ
He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said to him, “No, we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
3 ⲅ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲓ ⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲥⲙⲁ ϭⲉ ⲉⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲛϫⲓ ⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲥⲙⲁ ⲉⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ
He said, “Into what then were you immersed?” They said, “Into Yochanan’s immersion.”
4 ⲇ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲓⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲥⲍⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲥⲙⲁ ⲙⲙⲉⲧⲁⲛⲟⲓⲁ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲡⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱϥ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲓⲥ
Paul said, “Yochanan indeed immersed with the immersion of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Messiah Yeshua.”
5 ⲉ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩϫⲓ ⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲥⲙⲁ ⲉⲡⲣⲁⲛ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
When they heard this, they were immersed in the name of the Lord Yeshua.
6 ⲋ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲕⲁ ϭⲓϫ ⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲁⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲩϣⲁϫⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉ ϩⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲕⲉⲁⲥⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲩⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲉⲩⲉ
When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke with other languages and prophesied.
7 ⲍ̅ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲉϩⲙⲛⲧⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲡⲉ
They were about twelve men in all.
8 ⲏ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲧⲥⲩⲛⲁⲅⲱⲅⲏ ⲁϥⲡⲁⲣⲣⲏⲥⲓⲁⲍⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛϣⲟⲙⲛⲧ ⲛⲉⲃⲟⲧ ⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥⲡⲓⲑⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
He entered into the synagogue and spoke boldly for a period of three months, reasoning and persuading about the things concerning God’s Kingdom.
9 ⲑ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛϣⲟⲧ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲣⲁⲧⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲩϫⲓⲟⲩⲁ ⲉⲧⲉϩⲓⲏ ⲙⲡⲉⲙⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲁϥⲥⲁϩⲱϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲡⲣϫ ⲙⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲙⲙⲏⲛⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲥⲭⲟⲗⲏⲛⲧⲏⲣⲁⲛⲟⲥ
But when some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and separated the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.
10 ⲓ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲣⲟⲙⲡⲉ ⲥⲛⲧⲉ ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲏϩ ϩⲛ ⲧⲁⲥⲓⲁ ⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲟⲩⲉⲉⲓⲉⲛⲓⲛ
This continued for two years, so that all those who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord Yeshua, both Jews and Greeks.
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ϩⲉⲛⲛⲟϭ ⲛϭⲟⲙ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲛϭⲓϫ ⲙⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ
God worked special miracles by the hands of Paul,
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲛⲥⲉϫⲓ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲥⲟⲩⲇⲁⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲙⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲥⲩⲙⲓⲕⲓⲛⲑⲓⲛⲟⲛ ⲉⲁⲩⲧⲟϭⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲉϥⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲛⲥⲉⲕⲁⲁⲩ ⲉϫⲛⲛⲉⲧϣⲱⲛⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲉⲩϣⲱⲛⲉ ⲗⲟ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲙⲡⲟⲛⲏⲣⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲩⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ
so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲁⲩϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲉⲧⲟ ⲛⲉⲝⲟⲣⲕⲓⲥⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲉ ⲡⲣⲁⲛ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲛⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲙⲡⲟⲛⲏⲣⲟⲛ ϩⲓⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲛⲧⲁⲣⲕⲟ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲛⲓⲥ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲕⲏⲣⲩⲥⲥⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ
But some of the itinerant Jews, exorcists, took on themselves to invoke over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Yeshua, saying, “We adjure you by Yeshua whom Paul preaches.”
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲉⲩⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ϫⲉ ⲥⲕⲉⲩⲁ ⲉⲩⲛⲧϥⲥⲁϣϥ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲉⲩⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲁⲓ
There were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did this.
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲁⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲙⲡⲟⲛⲏⲣⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲓⲥ ϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲕⲉⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ϯⲉⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ
The evil spirit answered, “Yeshua I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲁϥϥⲱϭⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲙⲡⲟⲛⲏⲣⲟⲛ ϩⲓⲱⲱϥ ⲁϥⲣ ϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲥⲁϣϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϭⲙϭⲟⲙ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲛⲥⲉⲡⲱⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲏⲓ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲩⲕⲏ ⲕⲁϩⲏⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲩⲡⲟⲗϩ
The man in whom the evil spirit was leapt on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲙⲛ ⲛϩⲉⲗⲗⲏⲛ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲏϩ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲫⲉⲥⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϩⲟⲧⲉ ϩⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϫⲓⲥⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲣⲁⲛ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲥ
This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived at Ephesus. Fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Yeshua was magnified.
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ⲛⲉⲣⲉϩⲁϩ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲩⲉⲝⲟⲙⲟⲗⲟⲅⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲩⲧⲁⲩⲟ ⲛⲛⲉⲩϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ
Many also of those who had believed came, confessing and declaring their deeds.
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲙⲛⲧⲡⲉⲣⲡⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲛϫⲱⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲣⲟⲕϩⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲉⲙⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲉⲡ ⲥⲟⲩⲛⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲩϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲛϯⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲃⲁ ⲛϩⲁⲧ
Many of those who practised magical arts brought their books together and burnt them in the sight of all. They counted their price, and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver.
20 ⲕ̅ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ ⲑⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁⲩⲝⲁⲛⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲧⲁϫⲣⲟ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϭⲙϭⲟⲙ
So the word of the Lord was growing and becoming mighty.
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲥⲙⲛⲧⲥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲙⲁⲕⲉⲇⲟⲛⲓⲁ ⲙⲛⲧⲁⲭⲁⲓⲁ ⲛϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲑⲓⲗⲏⲙ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲁ ⲧⲣⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲙⲁⲩ ϩⲁⲡⲥ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲣⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲕⲉϩⲣⲱⲙⲏ
Now after these things had ended, Paul determined in the Spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, “After I have been there, I must also see Rome.”
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲁⲕⲉⲇⲟⲛⲓⲁ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲧⲓⲙⲟⲑⲉⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲉⲣⲁⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥϭⲱ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ϩⲛ ⲧⲁⲥⲓⲁ
Having sent into Macedonia two of those who served him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while.
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛϣⲧⲟⲣⲧⲣ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲉϩⲓⲏ
About that time there arose no small disturbance concerning the Way.
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ⲟⲩⲣⲉϥⲣϩⲁⲧ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲉ ⲧⲩⲙⲏⲧⲣⲓⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲧⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲛϩⲁⲧ ⲛⲧⲁⲣⲧⲉⲙⲓⲥ ⲛⲉⲩϯⲛⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲉⲣⲅⲁⲥⲓⲁ ⲛⲛⲧⲉⲭⲛⲓⲧⲏⲥ
For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen,
25 ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ϭⲉ ⲁϥⲥⲉⲩϩ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲣϩⲱⲃ ⲉⲧⲉⲓⲟⲡⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛϣⲃⲣⲧⲉⲭⲛⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲛⲱⲛϩ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲓⲉⲣⲅⲁⲥⲓⲁ
whom he gathered together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, “Sirs, you know that by this business we have our wealth.
26 ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲱⲧⲙ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲙⲟⲛⲟⲛ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲫⲉⲥⲟⲥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲥⲭⲉⲇⲟⲛ ϩⲛ ⲧⲁⲥⲓⲁⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⲁⲡⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲡⲓⲑⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲡⲛⲛⲉ ⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲛⲁϣⲱϥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲩϭⲓϫ
You see and hear that not at Ephesus alone, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods that are made with hands.
27 ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ ⲟⲩ ⲙⲟⲛⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲙⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲕⲓⲛⲇⲩⲛⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥϫⲱⲱⲣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲡⲕⲉⲣⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲁⲣⲧⲩⲙⲓⲥ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲗⲟ ⲉⲩⲱⲡ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲥⲉⲛⲧⲥ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲥⲙⲛⲧⲛⲟϭ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲧⲁⲥⲓⲁ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲟⲓⲕⲟⲩⲙⲉⲛⲏ ϣⲙϣⲉ ⲛⲁⲥ
Not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted as nothing and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.”
28 ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩϩ ⲛϭⲱⲛⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲁϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲣⲧⲉⲙⲓⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲫⲉⲥⲟⲥ
When they heard this they were filled with anger, and cried out, saying, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
29 ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⲙⲟⲩϩ ⲛϣⲧⲟⲣⲧⲣ ⲉⲁⲩϯ ⲡⲉⲩⲟⲩⲟⲓ ϩⲓ ⲟⲩⲥⲟⲡ ⲉⲡⲉⲑⲩⲁⲧⲣⲟⲛ ⲉⲁⲩⲧⲱⲣⲡ ⲛⲅⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲁⲣⲓⲥⲧⲁⲣⲭⲟⲥ ϩⲉⲛⲙⲁⲕⲉⲇⲱⲛ ⲉⲩⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ
The whole city was filled with confusion, and they rushed with one accord into the theatre, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel.
30 ⲗ̅ ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲇⲏⲙⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲕⲁⲁϥ
When Paul wanted to enter in to the people, the disciples didn’t allow him.
31 ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ ϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲛ ϩⲛ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲱⲛ ⲉⲩⲟ ⲛϣⲃⲏⲣ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲧⲁⲩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲉⲩⲥⲟⲡⲥ ⲉⲧⲙⲧⲣⲉϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲉⲑⲩⲁⲧⲣⲟⲛ
Certain also of the Asiarchs, being his friends, sent to him and begged him not to venture into the theatre.
32 ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ ⲛⲉⲩⲁϣⲕⲁⲕ ϭⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲁⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲱϩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲩϩⲟⲩⲟ ⲛⲉⲩⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲟⲩ
Some therefore cried one thing, and some another, for the assembly was in confusion. Most of them didn’t know why they had come together.
33 ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲇⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲁⲩⲛⲉϫⲟⲩⲁ ϫⲉ ⲁⲗⲉⲝⲁⲛⲇⲣⲟⲥ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲁⲗⲉⲝⲁⲛⲇⲣⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥϫⲱⲣⲙ ⲛⲧⲉϥϭⲓϫ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲁⲡⲟⲗⲟⲅⲓⲍⲉ ⲙⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ
They brought Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. Alexander beckoned with his hand, and would have made a defence to the people.
34 ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲉⲓⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲥⲙⲏ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲛⲁⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲥⲛⲧⲉ ⲉⲩⲁϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲣⲧⲉⲙⲓⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲫⲉⲥⲟⲥ
But when they perceived that he was a Jew, all with one voice for a time of about two hours cried out, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
35 ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ ⲡⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲕⲁⲧⲁⲥⲧⲓⲗⲉ ⲙⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲣⲙⲛⲉⲫⲉⲥⲟⲥ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲅⲁⲣⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛϥⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲛⲉⲫⲉⲥⲟⲥ ⲉⲥϣⲙϣⲉ ⲛⲧⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲁⲣⲧⲩⲙⲓⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲍⲉⲩⲥ
When the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he said, “You men of Ephesus, what man is there who doesn’t know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?
36 ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ ⲉⲣⲉⲛⲁⲓ ϭⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϣϣⲉ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲧⲛⲥⲙⲛ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲙⲣ ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛϩⲱⲃ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲥⲁⲓ
Seeing then that these things can’t be denied, you ought to be quiet and to do nothing rash.
37 ⲗ̅ⲍ̅ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲛⲉⲓⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲡⲉⲓⲙⲁ ⲙⲡⲟⲩϣⲗⲣⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲟⲩϫⲓⲟⲩⲁ ⲉⲧⲛⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
For you have brought these men here, who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of your goddess.
38 ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲧⲩⲙⲏⲧⲣⲓⲟⲥ ϭⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉϥϣⲃⲣⲧⲉⲭⲛⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲟⲩ ⲟⲩϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲩ ϣⲁⲩⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲁⲅⲟⲣⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲉⲛⲁⲛⲑⲩⲡⲁⲧⲟⲥ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲩⲥⲙⲙⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ
If therefore Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with him have a matter against anyone, the courts are open and there are proconsuls. Let them press charges against one another.
39 ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲕⲉϩⲱⲃ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲃⲟⲗϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲥⲟⲟⲩϩⲥ ⲉϣⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲉ
But if you seek anything about other matters, it will be settled in the regular assembly.
40 ⲙ̅ ⲧⲛϭⲓⲛⲇⲩⲛⲉⲩⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲩϯ ϣⲧⲟⲩⲏⲧ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲉⲓϣⲧⲟⲣⲧⲣ ⲙⲡⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲙⲛ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲧⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲉⲩⲛ ϣϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲉϯⲗⲟⲅⲟⲥ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ
For indeed we are in danger of being accused concerning today’s riot, there being no cause. Concerning it, we wouldn’t be able to give an account of this commotion.”
41 ⲙ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲕⲁ ⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
When he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
