1 ⲁ̅ ⲉⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲱ ϭⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛⲕⲁⲕⲓⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲕⲣⲟϥ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲛ ϩⲩⲡⲟⲕⲣⲏⲥⲓⲥ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲗⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲗⲁⲗⲓⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ
So then, laying aside all malignity—even all deceit and play-actings and envies, yes all malicious speaking—
2 ⲃ̅ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛϩⲉⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲉⲁⲩϫⲡⲟⲟⲩ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲛⲗⲟⲅⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲕⲣⲟϥ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲓⲁⲓ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲉⲩⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ
crave the pure spiritual ‘milk’, like newborn babies do, so that by it you may grow into salvation,
3 ⲅ̅ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲓ ϯⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲭⲣⲏⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ
if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is benevolent.
4 ⲇ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϯ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲛⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲡⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲛϩ ⲉⲁⲩⲧⲥⲧⲟϥ ⲙⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲉⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲁϩⲣⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲥⲟⲧⲡ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥⲧⲁⲓⲏⲩ
Coming to Him, a living stone—rejected indeed by men but chosen by God, precious—
5 ⲉ̅ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ϩⲱⲧ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲕⲱⲧ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ϩⲱⲥ ⲱⲛⲉ ⲉϥⲟⲛϩ ⲛⲟⲩⲏⲓ ⲙⲡⲛⲁⲧⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲉⲩϣⲙϣⲉ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲉⲧⲁⲗⲟ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲙⲡⲛⲁⲧⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲉⲩϣⲏⲡ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
you also, as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6 ⲋ̅ ϫⲉ ϥⲥⲏϩ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲕⲱ ϩⲛ ⲥⲓⲱⲛ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ⲛⲕⲟⲟϩ ⲛⲥⲱⲡⲧ ⲉϥⲧⲁⲓⲏⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϥⲛⲁϫⲓ ϣⲓⲡⲉ ⲁⲛ
That is why the Scripture contains: “Attention, I am laying in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen, precious, and the one who rests his trust upon Him will absolutely not be humiliated.”
7 ⲍ̅ ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲧⲁⲉⲓⲟ ϭⲉ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲟ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲧⲛⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲉⲡⲱⲛⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲥⲧⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲕⲱⲧ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲉⲩⲁⲡⲉ ⲛⲕⲟⲟϩ
So then, this recompense is for you who believe, but to those who disobey, “the stone that the builders rejected is just the one that became the chief cornerstone,”
8 ⲏ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ⲛϫⲣⲟⲡ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲉⲧⲣⲁ ⲛⲥⲕⲁⲛⲇⲁⲗⲟⲛ ⲛⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧϫⲓ ϫⲣⲟⲡ ⲉⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲩⲟ ⲛⲛⲁⲧⲛⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲉⲁⲩⲕⲁⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲁⲓ
also “a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; being disobedient to the Word, they stumble, to which, indeed, they were appointed.
9 ⲑ̅ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ⲟⲩⲅⲉⲛⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲥⲟⲧⲡ ⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧⲟⲩⲏⲏⲃ ⲟⲩϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲟⲩⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲉⲡⲱⲛϩ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲱ ⲛⲛⲛⲉϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲉϩⲙ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲕⲁⲕⲉ ⲉⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓⲛ ⲛϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ
But you are a chosen family, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a private-property people, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
10 ⲓ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲛⲁ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲛⲁ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ
who formerly were not a people but now are God's people, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲁⲙⲉⲣⲁⲧⲉ ϯⲡⲁⲣⲁⲕⲁⲗⲉⲓ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ϩⲱⲥ ϣⲙⲙⲟ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲱⲥ ⲣⲙⲛϭⲟⲓⲗⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲧⲥⲁϩⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲛⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓⲁ ⲛⲥⲁⲣⲕⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉϯ ⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⲧⲉⲯⲩⲭⲏ
Dear ones, I urge you to abstain from the lusts of the flesh, that war against the soul,
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲉⲩⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲣⲟⲫⲏ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩⲥ ϩⲛ ⲛϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩⲕⲁⲧⲁⲗⲁⲗⲓⲁ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ϩⲱⲥ ⲣⲉϥⲣ ⲡⲉⲑⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲉⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲛϩⲉⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩ ⲛⲥⲉϯ ⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡϭⲙ ⲡϣⲓⲛⲉ
keeping your way of life among the nations praiseworthy (you being foreigners and sojourners), so that wherein they speak against you as evildoers, in spite of the praiseworthy deeds they have observed, they may glorify God in the day of visitation.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲑⲃⲃⲓⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲛⲥⲱⲛⲧ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲓⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲣⲣⲟ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉϥϫⲟⲥⲉ
Therefore subordinate yourselves to every human institution because of the Lord, whether to a king, as being in authority,
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲉⲓⲧⲉ ϩⲩⲅⲉⲙⲱⲛ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉⲩⲧⲛⲛⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ ⲉⲧϫⲓ ⲕⲃⲁ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲑⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲛⲣⲉϥⲣⲡ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ
or to governors, as being sent by him, both for punishment of evildoers and for praise of good-doers.
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ϫⲉ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ ⲑⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲧⲁⲙ ⲉⲣⲉⲛⲧⲙⲛⲧⲁⲧⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲛⲉⲓⲁⲑⲏⲧ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ
Because such is the will of God, to silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing good:
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ϩⲱⲥ ⲣⲙϩⲉ ⲛⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲙϩⲉ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲁⲛ ϩⲱⲥ ϩⲃⲥ ⲛⲕⲁⲕⲓⲁ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲱⲥ ϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
as free (not using the freedom as a cover for evil), yet as slaves of God.
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲁⲉⲓⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲉⲣⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲣ ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲁⲓⲉ ⲡⲣⲣⲟ
Respect everyone; love the brotherhood; fear God; honor the king.
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ⲛϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲛⲉⲧⲛϫⲓⲥⲟⲟⲩⲉ ϩⲛ ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲛ ⲛϩⲁⲕ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲕⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲧϭⲟⲟⲙⲉ
Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unscrupulous.
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲟⲩϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲡⲉ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲟⲩⲥⲩⲛⲉⲓⲇⲏⲥⲓⲥ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲛⲁϥⲓ ϩⲁϩⲉⲛⲗⲏⲡⲏ ⲉϥϣⲡ ϩⲓⲥⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϫⲓⲛ ϭⲟⲛⲥ
For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God someone endures grief, suffering unjustly.
20 ⲕ̅ ⲁϣ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲁⲛⲣ ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲛⲥⲉϩⲓⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϭⲱ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲥⲉϩⲓⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛϭⲉⲉⲧ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲟⲩϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲁϩⲣⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
For what credit is it if upon sinning and being beaten you endure patiently? But if upon doing good and suffering you endure patiently, this is commendable before God.
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲧⲉϩⲙ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲡⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ϩⲱⲱϥ ⲁϥϣⲡ ϩⲓⲥⲉ ϩⲁⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲉϥⲕⲱ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲙⲟⲧ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲁⲟⲩⲉϩ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲛⲥⲁⲛⲉϥϩⲓⲟⲟⲩⲉ
Now you have been called to this, really, because Christ also suffered in our behalf, leaving you an example that you should follow in His footsteps:
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧ ⲙⲡϥⲣ ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩϩⲉ ⲕⲣⲟϥ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲧⲁⲡⲣⲟ
who did not commit sin, neither was deceit found in His mouth;
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲩⲥⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲉϥϣⲡ ϩⲓⲥⲉ ⲛϥⲛⲟϭⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲉϥⲕⲱ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲙⲁ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲱⲥ
who being reviled did not revile in return, suffering did not threaten but committed it to Him who judges righteously;
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁⲗⲟ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲉϫⲙ ⲡϣⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲁⲛⲙⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲁϩⲣⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲛⲧⲛⲱⲛϩ ϩⲛ ⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲁⲗϭⲟ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲁϣ
who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, so that we, having died to those sins, might live for the righteousness; by whose wound you were healed.
25 ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲟ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲓⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲥⲟⲣⲙ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲉⲧ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉⲡϣⲱⲥ ⲡⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲙⲯⲩⲭⲏ
Yes, you were like straying sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls.
