Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, to the elect sojourners of the dispersion, of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia--
2 ⲃ̅ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡϣⲣⲡ ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲱⲧ ϩⲙ ⲡⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲙⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲉⲡⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲛⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲡϭⲟϣϭϣ ⲙⲡⲉⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲛⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲧⲉⲭⲁⲣⲓⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲙⲛ ϯⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲙⲙⲁϣⲟ
according to the predetermination of God the Father, by a sanctification of the Spirit, in order to obedience, and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Favor and peace be multiplied to you.
3 ⲅ̅ ϥⲥⲙⲁⲙⲁⲁⲧ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁϥϫⲡⲟⲛ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲉϥⲛⲁ ⲉⲧⲛⲁϣⲱϥ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲩϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⲉⲥⲟⲛϩ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧ
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has regenerated us to a lively hope, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 ⲇ̅ ⲉⲩⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲛⲟⲙⲓⲁ ⲛⲁⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲁⲧⲱⲗⲙ ⲉⲙⲉⲥϩⲱϭⲃ ⲉⲩϩⲁⲣⲉϩ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲛ ⲙⲡⲏⲩⲉ
to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and unfading, preserved in the heavens for us;
5 ⲉ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲟⲩϩⲁⲣⲉϩ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲛ ⲧϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲉⲡⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲥⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⲉϭⲱⲗⲡ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲛϩⲁⲉ
who, by the power of God, are guarded through faith, to the salvation prepared to be revealed in the last time.
6 ⲋ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲉⲗⲏⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲉⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲗⲩⲡⲏ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲉϣϫⲉ ϩⲁⲡⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲡⲉⲓⲣⲁⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲩϣⲟⲃⲉ
On account of this, be exceeding glad, though now, for a little while, (since it is needful, ) you are made sorry by divers trials;
7 ⲍ̅ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩϩⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲛⲧⲥⲱⲡⲧ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲉⲥⲧⲁⲓⲏⲩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛϣⲁⲩⲇⲟⲕⲓⲙⲁⲍⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲕⲱϩⲧ ⲉⲩⲧⲙⲁⲓⲟ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲧⲁⲓⲟ ϩⲙ ⲡϭⲱⲗⲡ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
that the trying of your faith, (much more precious than of gold, which perishes, though proved by fire, ) may be found to praise, and honor, and glory, at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
8 ⲏ̅ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲟⲛ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲉⲗⲏⲗ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲉϥϩⲏⲡ ⲁⲩⲱ ϥⲧⲁⲓⲏⲩ
whom, not having seen, you love; on whom, not now looking, but believing, you greatly rejoice, with joy unspeakable and full of glory--
9 ⲑ̅ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲓ ⲙⲡϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲡⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ⲛⲉⲧⲙⲯⲩⲭⲏ
receiving the consummation of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 ⲓ̅ ⲉⲁⲩϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϩⲟⲧϩⲧ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲛⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏ ⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲉⲭⲁⲣⲓⲥ ⲉⲧϫⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ
Concerning which salvation, the prophets inquired accurately, and searched diligently, who have prophesied concerning the favor bestowed on you;
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲉⲩϣⲓⲛⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲙⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲉⲧⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲁϣ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲉϥⲣ ⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ ϫⲓⲛ ϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲛⲙⲙⲟⲕϩⲥ ⲉⲧⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩ
searching diligently of what things, and what kind of time, the Spirit of Christ, who was in them, did signify, when he testified before the sufferings of Christ, and the glories following these--
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲩⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲉⲓ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲧⲁⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲧⲁϣⲉⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲧⲛⲛⲟⲟⲩϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲛⲛⲉⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲉⲓ ⲉⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ
to whom it was revealed, that, not for themselves, but for us, they ministered these things; which have now been reported to you, by them who have declared the glad tidings to you, with the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven: into which things, angels earnestly desire to look attentively.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲟⲩⲣ ⲛⲛϯⲡⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲉⲧⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲏⲫⲉ ϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲍⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲧⲉⲭⲁⲣⲓⲥ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲉⲧⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡϭⲱⲗⲡ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
Wherefore, having the loins of your mind girded, being vigilant, constantly hope for the gift to be brought to you, at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ϩⲱⲥ ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡϩⲣⲃ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲉⲡⲉⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓⲁ ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϩⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲙⲛⲧⲁⲧⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ
As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts, in your ignorance;
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲧⲁϥⲧⲉϩⲙ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲱ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲣⲟⲫⲏ ⲛⲓⲙ
but as he who has called you is holy, be you also holy;
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ϫⲉ ϥⲥⲏϩ ϫⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϯⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ
for it is written, "Be you holy, because I am holy."
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲛⲛⲉϥϩⲉⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲁϫⲛϫⲓϩⲟ ⲧⲛⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲓⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲙⲁ
And seeing you call on the Father, who, without respect of persons, judges according to every man's work--pass the time of your sojourning here, in fear;
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲥⲉⲧ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲁⲛ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⲏ ⲟⲩϩⲁⲧ ⲉϣⲁϥⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲛϩⲉⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲉⲧϣⲟⲩⲉⲓⲧ ⲉⲧⲁⲛⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲟⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲛ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ
knowing that, not with corruptible things, as silver and gold, you were redeemed from your foolish behavior, delivered to you by your fathers;
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲉⲧⲁⲉⲓⲏⲩ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϩⲉⲓⲏⲃ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲁⲧⲱⲗⲙ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish, and without spot;
20 ⲕ̅ ⲉⲁⲩϣⲣⲡ ⲥⲟⲩⲱⲛϥ ⲙⲛ ϩⲁⲑⲏ ⲛⲧⲕⲁⲧⲁⲃⲟⲗⲏ ⲙⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ϩⲛ ⲑⲁⲏ ⲛⲛⲉⲓⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ
predetermined, indeed, before the foundation of the world, but manifested in these last times for you;
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ ⲙⲡⲉϥϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϯ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲟⲩⲉⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⲛⲥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
who through him, believe in God, who raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲉⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲯⲩⲭⲏ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲙ ⲡⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲛⲧⲙⲉ ⲉⲩⲙⲛⲧⲙⲁⲓⲥⲟⲛ ⲙⲛ ϩⲩⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲉⲣⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲏⲧ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ
Wherefore, having purified your souls by obeying the truth, through the Spirit, to unfeigned brotherly love, love one another, from a pure heart, fervently:
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲉⲁⲩϫⲡⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲁⲛ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϫⲡⲟ ⲛϣⲁϥⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲧⲧⲁⲕⲟ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲛϩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧϣⲟⲟⲡ (aiōn g165)
having been regenerated, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of the living God, which remains. (aiōn g165)
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ϫⲉ ⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲩⲟ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲭⲟⲣⲧⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲧⲁⲩ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲙⲡⲉϩⲣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲭⲟⲣⲧⲟⲥ ⲉⲁϥϣⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲭⲟⲣⲧⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϥϩⲣⲏⲣⲉ ⲁϥⲥⲣⲟϥⲣϥ
"For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower of it falls down; but the word of the Lord remains forever."
25 ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ ⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛϣⲁⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲧⲁϣⲉ ⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ (aiōn g165)
Now this is that word which has been proclaimed as glad tidings to you. (aiōn g165)
