1 ⲁ̅ ⲁⲛⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲁϣ ⲛϭⲟⲧ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ⲛⲧⲁⲡⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲧⲁⲁⲥ ⲛⲁⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲙⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲩⲱⲛϥ
Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.
2 ⲃ̅ ⲛⲁⲙⲉⲣⲁⲧⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲛⲉϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲁⲧϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲁⲣ ⲁϣ ⲉⲛϩⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧϥϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲥ
Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is.
3 ⲅ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲩⲛⲧⲁϥ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲉⲓϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ϣⲁϥⲧⲃⲃⲟϥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱϥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲏ ⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ
And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as Christ is pure.
4 ⲇ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲃⲉ ϥⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲛⲧⲕⲉⲁⲛⲟⲙⲓⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲧⲁⲛⲟⲙⲓⲁ
Everyone who practices sin practices lawlessness as well. Indeed, sin is lawlessness.
5 ⲉ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲡⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲉϥⲓ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲙ ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
But you know that Christ appeared to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin.
6 ⲋ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲙⲉϥⲣ ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲉⲣ ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲩⲱⲛϥ
No one who remains in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has seen Him or known Him.
7 ⲍ̅ ⲛⲁϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲧⲉⲣⲉⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲡⲗⲁⲛⲁ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉ ⲛⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲟⲩⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲩⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ
Little children, let no one deceive you: The one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as Christ is righteous.
8 ⲏ̅ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲟⲩⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲇⲓⲁⲃⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ϫⲓⲛ ⲧⲉϩⲟⲩⲉⲓⲧⲉ ⲡⲇⲓⲁⲃⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲉⲣ ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲁⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲉⲃⲱⲗ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲙⲡⲇⲓⲁⲃⲟⲗⲟⲥ
The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.
9 ⲑ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲡⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲉϥⲣ ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲡⲉⲣⲙⲁ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲛ ϣ ϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲣ ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲡⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.
10 ⲓ̅ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲥⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲛⲉϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲇⲓⲁⲃⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲛϥⲙⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ
By this the children of God are distinguished from the children of the devil: Anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is anyone who does not love his brother.
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲣⲏⲧ ⲛⲧⲁⲛⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲓⲛ ϣⲟⲣⲡ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲛⲁⲙⲉⲣⲉ ⲛⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ
This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲕⲁⲓⲛ ⲉⲟⲩⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲡⲟⲛⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲕⲱⲛⲥ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲁϥⲕⲟⲛⲥϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉϥϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ϩⲉⲛⲡⲟⲛⲏⲣⲟⲛ ⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲛ ⲛⲉ
Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did Cain slay him? Because his own deeds were evil, while those of his brother were righteous.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲙⲡⲣⲣ ϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲁⲥⲛⲏⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲙⲟⲥⲧⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲛ
So do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲡⲱⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲟⲩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲱⲛϩ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲙⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲛϥⲙⲉ ⲁⲛ ϥϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲟⲩ
We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲙⲟⲥⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲣⲉϥϩⲉⲧⲃ ⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲣⲉϥϩⲉⲧⲃ ⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲛⲧϥ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲙⲡⲱⲛϩ ⲛϣⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲉϥϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ (aiōnios )
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that eternal life does not reside in a murderer. (aiōnios )
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲁⲛⲉⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲕⲱ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲯⲩⲭⲏ ϩⲁⲣⲟⲛ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ϩⲱⲱⲛ ϣϣⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ⲉⲕⲱ ⲛⲛⲙⲯⲩⲭⲏ ϩⲁ ⲛⲉⲛⲥⲛⲏⲩ
By this we know what love is: Jesus laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁϥ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲙⲡⲃⲓⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲛϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ ⲉϥⲣϭⲣⲟϩ ⲛϥⲧⲙϣⲛ ϩⲧⲏϥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱϥ ⲛⲁϣ ⲉⲛϩⲉ ⲧⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him?
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ⲛⲁϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲧⲉⲣⲉⲛⲙⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲗⲁⲥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲙ ⲡϩⲱⲃ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲙⲉ
Little children, let us love not in word and speech, but in action and truth.
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁⲉⲓⲙⲉ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲛⲛⲁⲡⲉⲓⲑⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲙⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
And by this we will know that we belong to the truth, and will assure our hearts in His presence:
20 ⲕ̅ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛⲡⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ϭⲉⲛⲛ ⲁⲣⲓⲕⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲟ ⲛⲛⲟϭ ⲉⲡⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ϥⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ
Even if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts, and He knows all things.
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲁⲙⲉⲣⲁⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲧⲙⲡⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ϭⲉⲛⲛ ⲁⲣⲓⲕⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁⲛ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲟⲩⲡⲁⲣⲣⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲛⲁϩⲣⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God,
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲁⲓⲧⲉⲓ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲧⲛⲛⲁϫⲓⲧϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲛϩⲁⲣⲉϩ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲛⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲉⲣ ⲁⲛⲁϥ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲙⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
and we will receive from Him whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight.
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲉϥⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲛⲁⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲡⲣⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲉϥϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲛⲙⲉⲣⲓ ⲛⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲛⲧⲁϥϩⲱⲛ ⲉⲧⲟⲟⲧⲛ
And this is His commandment: that we should believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and we should love one another just as He commanded us.
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁϩⲁⲣⲉϩ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ϥϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲁϥ ϩⲱⲱϥ ϥⲟⲩⲏϩ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲧⲉⲛⲉⲓⲙⲉ ϫⲉ ϥϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲛ
Whoever keeps His commandments remains in God, and God in him. And by this we know that He remains in us: by the Spirit He has given us.
