1 ⲁ̅ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲉⲣⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛⲣⲉϥϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲛⲁ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϭⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϩⲁⲡ.
Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.
2 ⲃ̅ ⲧⲉⲛϩⲓⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛⲥⲟⲡ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϥϩⲓⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⲁⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲟⲩⲧⲉⲗⲓⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⳿ϣϫⲟⲙ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲉϭⲓⲭⲁⲗⲓⲛⲟⲩⲥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲧⲏⲣϥ.
For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle his entire body as well.
3 ⲅ̅ ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲛϯⲭⲁⲗⲓⲛⲟⲩⲥ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓ⳿ϩⲑⲱⲣ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡϫⲓⲛⲧⲟⲩⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲛⲥⲱⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲧⲉⲛⲥⲱⲕ ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲧⲏⲣϥ.
Behold, we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they will obey us, and we guide their entire bodies.
4 ⲇ̅ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲛⲓⲉϫⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁⲓⲙⲁⲓⲏ ⲉⲩⲥⲱⲕ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲑⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲛⲁϣⲧ ϣⲁⲩ⳿ⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲓⲏ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲫⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲉϥⲛⲁⲟⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲉϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲣⲉϥⲉⲣϩⲉⲙⲓ.
Or take ships for example, though they are so large and driven by fierce winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the inclination of the pilot directs.
5 ⲉ̅ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ϩⲱϥ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲥ ⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ϥⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲙⲉⲧⲛⲓϣϯ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲭⲣⲱⲙ ⳿ϥⲣⲱⲕϩ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϩⲩⲗⲏ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ.
In the same way, the tongue is a small member, yet it makes great boasts. Consider how great a forest a little fire kindles.
6 ⲋ̅ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲥ ϩⲱϥ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲭⲣⲱⲙ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲡⲥⲟⲗⲥⲉⲗ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲧ⳿ⲁⲇⲓⲕⲓⲁ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲥ ⲭⲏ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲙⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ϥϩⲓⲁϭⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁ ⲡⲓⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⳿ϥⲣⲱⲕϩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓ⳿ⲧⲣⲟⲭⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓϫⲓⲛⲙⲓⲥⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ϥⲣⲱⲕϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ϯⲅⲉⲉⲛⲛⲁ. (Geenna )
And the tongue is a fire. The tongue is placed among our members as a world of unrighteousness, staining the entire body, setting the course of life on fire, and itself being set on fire by hell. (Geenna )
7 ⲍ̅ ⲫⲩⲥⲓⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲑⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓϩⲁⲗⲁϯ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓϭⲁⲧϥⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲁⲙⲁⲓⲟⲩ ⲥⲉⲉⲣⲇⲁⲙⲁⲍⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲥⲉϭⲛⲟ ⳿ⲛϫⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϯⲫⲩⲥⲓⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲣⲱⲙⲓ.
Every species of beast, bird, reptile, and sea creature can be tamed and has been tamed by man,
8 ⲏ̅ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⳿ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ϣ⳿ⲑⲣⲟ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲉϭⲛⲉϫⲱϥ ⲟⲩⲁⲧⲥⲉⲙⲛⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲉϥϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲉϥⲙⲉϩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲑⲟⲩⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲫⲙⲟⲩ.
but no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 ⲑ̅ ⲁⲛ⳿ⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲫϯ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲫⲓⲱⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ⲉⲛϩⲱⲟⲩϣ ⳿ⲉⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁϥⲑⲁⲙⲓⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲫϯ ⲉⲩⲟⲛⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ.
With it we bless God our Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in God's likeness.
10 ⲓ̅ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲟ ⲣⲱ ⲥⲉⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲥⲁϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⲡⲉⲧ⳿ⲥϣⲉ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲁ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ.
Out of the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, this ought not to be so.
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲙⲏϯ ϣⲁⲣⲉ ϯⲙⲟⲩⲙⲓ ⲃⲉⲃⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲧϩⲟⲗϫ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲉⲑⲙⲟⲗϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲁⲓⲟⲩⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲣⲱ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ.
Does a spring pour out fresh water and bitter water from the same opening?
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲙⲏ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⳿ϣϫⲟⲙ ⲛⲁ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲃⲱ ⳿ⲛⲕⲉⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲥ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛϫⲱⲓⲧ ⲓⲉ ⲟⲩⲃⲱ ⳿ⲛⲁⲗⲟⲗⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲥ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲕⲉⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉ ⲡⲉⲑⲙⲟⲗϩ ⲉⲣ ⲟⲩⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲉϥϩⲟⲗϫ.
Can a fig tree, my brothers, produce olives, or a grapevine figs? In the same way, no spring can produce both salt water and fresh water.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲛⲓⲙ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁⲃⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲕⲁⲧϩⲏⲧ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥⲧⲁⲙⲟⲛ ⳿ⲉⲛⲉϥ⳿ϩⲃⲏⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉϥϫⲓⲛⲙⲟϣⲓ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉⲙⲣⲁⲩϣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ.
Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct he should show that his works are done with the gentleness that comes from wisdom.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲭⲟϩ ⲉϥⲉⲛϣⲁϣⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⳿ϣϭⲛⲏⲛ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣϣⲟⲩϣⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛϫⲉⲙⲉⲑⲛⲟⲩϫ ϧⲁ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ.
But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast or deny the truth.
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲧⲁⲓ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲛⲁ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲁⲛ ⲧⲉ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲱⲓ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲑⲁ ⳿ⲡⲕⲁϩⲓ ⲧⲉ ⳿ⲙⲯⲩ ⲭⲓⲕⲏ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲙⲟⲧ ⳿ⲛⲇⲉⲙⲱⲛ.
This is not the wisdom that comes down from above; rather, it is earthly, unspiritual, and demonic.
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲭⲟϩ ⲓⲉ ⳿ϣϭⲛⲏⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲣⲉ ⳿ⲡ⳿ϣⲑⲟⲣⲧⲉⲣ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ.
For where there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice.
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲱⲓ ⳿ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲙⲉⲛ ⳿ⲥⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲓⲧⲁ ⲟⲩⲣⲉϥⲉⲣϩⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲉⲡⲓⲕⲏⲥ ⲧⲉ ⲉⲥⲙⲉϩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲧⲁϩ ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ⲟⲩⲁⲧϯϩⲁⲡ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲧⲙⲉⲧϣⲟⲃⲓ ⲧⲉ.
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easily entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, and unhypocritical.
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ⳿ⲡⲟⲩⲧⲁϩ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯϩⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ϣⲁⲩⲥⲁⲧϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧ⳿⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛϯϩⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
