1 ⲁ̅ ⳿ϥⲉⲛϩⲟⲧ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⳿ⲡⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲫⲏⲉⲑⲟⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲟⲩϩⲱⲃ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓⲛ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ.
This [is] a true saying, If a man desireth the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2 ⲃ̅ ⲥⲉⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁⲧⲗⲱⲓϫⲓ ⳿ⲉⲁϥⲉⲣϩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲉϥⲣⲏ ⲥ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁⲃⲉ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲗⲥⲓⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲓϣⲉⲙⲙⲟ ⳿ⲛⲣⲉϥϯ ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ.
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3 ⲅ̅ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲉϥⲥⲉ ϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ⲏⲣⲡ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲉϥϯ ⲧⲉⲛϣⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲟⲩⲉⲡⲓⲕⲏⲥ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲉϥ⳿ⲙⲗⲁϧ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲁⲓϩⲁⲧ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ.
Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre, but patient; not a brawler, not covetous;
4 ⲇ̅ ⲉϥϥⲓ⳿ⲫⲣⲱⲟⲩϣ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛⲕⲁⲗⲱⲥ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲁϥ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϭⲛⲉϫⲱϥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲥⲉⲙⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5 ⲉ̅ ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϥⲥⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉϥⲓ⳿ⲫⲣⲱⲟⲩϣ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉϥⲏⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲡⲱⲥ ⳿ϥⲛⲁϥⲓ⳿ⲫⲣⲱⲟⲩϣ ⳿ⲛϯⲉⲕ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ.
(For if a man knoweth not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6 ⲋ̅ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲧⲱϫⲓ ⳿ⲙⲃⲉⲣⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙϭ ⲓⲥⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥϩⲉⲓ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⲉⲩϩⲁⲡ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲇⲓ⳿ⲁⲃⲟⲗⲟⲥ.
Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7 ⲍ̅ ⲥⲉⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲕⲉⲙⲉⲧⲙⲉⲑⲣⲉ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ϧⲁⲣⲟϥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙϩⲉⲓ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩϣⲱϣ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲫⲁϣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲇⲓ⳿ⲁⲃⲟⲗⲟⲥ.
Moreover, he must have a good report of them who are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8 ⲏ̅ ϩⲁⲛⲇⲓ⳿ⲁⲕⲱⲛ ⲟⲛ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲩⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲙⲛⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉϩⲁⲛⲣⲉϥⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲃ̅ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲑⲏ ⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛⲏⲣⲡ ⳿ⲉϩⲁⲛⲁϥϫⲓⲣ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉ ⳿ⲉϩⲁⲛⲙⲁⲓϩⲏⲟⲩ ⲉϥϣⲏϣ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉ.
Likewise [must] the deacons [be] grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre,
9 ⲑ̅ ⲉϥⲉⲛⲧⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲙⲩⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲩⲛⲏⲇⲉⲥⲓⲥ ⲉⲥⲧⲟⲩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲧ.
Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 ⲓ̅ ⲛⲁⲓⲕⲉⲭⲱⲟⲩⲛⲓ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲩⲉⲣⲇⲟⲕⲓⲙⲁⲍⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲓⲧⲁ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲩϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲉⲩⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁⲧⲁⲣⲓⲕⲓ.
And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being [found] blameless.
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ϩⲁⲛϩⲓ⳿ⲟⲙⲓ ⲟⲛ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲩⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲙⲛⲓ ⳿ⲉϩⲁⲛⲇⲓ⳿ⲁⲃⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉ ⲉⲩⲣⲏⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲛϩⲟⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.
Even so [must their] wives [be] grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ϩⲁⲛⲇⲓ⳿ⲁⲕⲱⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲩϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲉⲁⲩⲉⲣϩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲉⲩϥⲓ⳿ⲫⲣⲱⲟⲩϣ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲕⲁⲗⲱⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲟⲩⲏⲓ.
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children, and their own houses well.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲛⲏ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲁⲩϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲕⲁⲗⲱⲥ ⲟⲩⲧⲱⲧⲉⲣ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩⲑⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲣⲏⲥⲓⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⲫⲏⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅.
For they that have used the office of a deacon well, purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith, which is in Christ Jesus.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ ϯ⳿ⲥϧⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲉⲓⲉⲣϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲓ ϩⲁⲣⲟⲕ ⳿ⲛⲭⲱⲗⲉⲙ.
These things I write to thee, hoping to come to thee shortly:
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲓϣⲁⲛⲱⲥⲕ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲕ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲥⲉ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⳿ⲛϣⲱⲡⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲏⲓ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲉⲧⲉ ϯⲉⲕ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⲉⲧⲟⲛϧ ⲧⲉ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲥⲧⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲧⲁϫⲣⲟ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲑⲙⲏⲓ.
But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲛϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲓⲙⲩⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲉⲩⲥⲉⲃⲏⲥ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲟⲛϩϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲁⲩⲑⲁⲙⲓⲟϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲟⲛϩϥ ⳿ⲉⲛⲓⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲁⲩϩⲓⲱⲓϣ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲟⲗϥ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡϣⲱⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲱⲟⲩ
And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
