< Ŵaloma 9 >
1 Nguŵecheta isyene kuti une ndili jwa Kilisito, ngangusala unami. Nningwa wangu ukuumalanjila umboni kwakulongoswa ni Mbumu jwa Akunnungu, isyene ngangulambusya.
I speak the truth in Christ; I am not lying, as confirmed by my conscience in the Holy Spirit.
2 Ngusupuka kwannope ni ndili ni ipwetesi yangamala mu ntima mwangu,
I have deep sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.
For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my own flesh and blood,
4 Ŵelewo ali Ŵaisilaeli ŵaŵasagulikwe ni Akunnungu aŵe ŵanache ŵao ŵaŵalosisye ukulu wao. Ŵalangene nawo ni kwapa Malajisyo, ŵaalosisye yakuti pakwapopelela ni kwapa ilanga yakwe.
the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption as sons; theirs the divine glory and the covenants; theirs the giving of the law, the temple worship, and the promises.
Eloo. (aiōn )
Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them proceeds the human descent of Christ, who is God over all, forever worthy of praise! Amen. (aiōn )
6 Nganguŵecheta kuti chilanga cha Akunnungu nganichimalila. Pakuŵa nganaŵa Ŵaisilaeli wose ŵaali ŵandu ŵa Akunnungu.
It is not as though God’s word has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.
7 Atamuno nganaŵa uŵelesi wose u che Iblahimu ŵaali ŵanache ŵa Akunnungu, nambo Akunnungu ŵapele chilanga che Iblahimu achitiji, “Uŵelesi wenu chiutyochele ni che Isaka.”
Nor because they are Abraham’s descendants are they all his children. On the contrary, “Through Isaac your offspring will be reckoned.”
So it is not the children of the flesh who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as offspring.
9 Pakuŵa chilanga chiŵachilanjile Akunnungu ni chelechi, “Katema kakasagulikwe chingaiche, ni che Sala chaligopole mwanache jwannume.”
For this is what the promise stated: “At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son.”
10 Ni ngaŵa yeleyo pe, nambo che Lebeka ŵakwete ŵanache ŵaŵili ŵachilume ŵaŵaŵelekwe ni atati ŵamo, ŵaali che Isaka ambuje ŵetu.
Not only that, but Rebecca’s children were conceived by one man, our father Isaac.
11 Pakuŵa akanapagwe maŵila, namose akanatende indu yambone pane yangalumbana, pakuti nningwa wa Akunnungu wa kusagula uwoneche.
Yet before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad, in order that God’s plan of election might stand,
not by works but by Him who calls, she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”
13 Mpela Malembelo ga Akunnungu yagakuti pakusala, “Naanonyele a Yakobo nambo a Esau naachimile.”
So it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”
14 Nipele, ana tujileje uli? Ana Akunnungu ngakulamula yaikuti pakusachilwa? Namuno kanandi!
What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Certainly not!
15 Pakuŵa ŵaasalile che Musa, “Chinjintendela wema jungunsaka kuntendela wema, ni chinjimpililila ajula jungunsaka kumpililila.”
For He says to Moses: “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
So then, it does not depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.
17 Pakuŵa Malembelo ga Akunnungu gakuti yeleyi kwa mwenye jwa ku Misili, “Nanjimiche mme mwenye melepe, kwa litala lya mmwejo nosye machili gangu ni kuti liina lyangu limanyiche pachilambo pose.”
For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”
18 Kwayele, Akunnungu akunkolela chanasa ajula jwakunsaka nsyene, nombe jwakusaka aŵe jwa kulimba ntima, akunlimbisya.
Therefore God has mercy on whom He wants to have mercy, and He hardens whom He wants to harden.
19 Pane chimuusye, “Iŵaga ili yele, ana ligongo lyachi Akunnungu akuti ŵandu aleŵile? Pakuŵa ŵaani ŵakukombola kukanilana ni aila yakuisaka Akunnungu?”
One of you will say to me, “Then why does God still find fault? For who can resist His will?”
20 Nambo mmwe mundu, ana mmwe nduni junkwajanga Akunnungu? Ana chiŵiga chikukombola kummusya juŵachigumbile, “Kwachichi mung'umbile yeleyi?”
But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to Him who formed it, “Why did You make me like this?”
Does not the potter have the right to make from the same lump of clay one vessel for special occasions and another for common use?
22 Yeleyo ni iyaliji kwa Akunnungu. Ŵasachile kulosya lutumbilo lwao ni kugamanyisya machili gao. Nambo ŵaapililile nnope aŵala ŵandu ŵaŵaŵajilwe kulamulikwa ni lutumbilo lwao, ŵelewo ni ŵaakuŵajilwa konangwa.
What if God, intending to show His wrath and make His power known, bore with great patience the vessels of His wrath, prepared for destruction?
23 Sooni ŵasachile aumanyisye winji wa ukulu wao uŵapele aŵala ŵaŵaŵajilwe kupochela chanasa chao, aŵala ŵaŵaŵichikwe chile kalakala apochele ukulu wakwe.
What if He did this to make the riches of His glory known to the vessels of His mercy, whom He prepared in advance for glory—
including us, whom He has called not only from the Jews, but also from the Gentiles?
25 Mpela Malembelo ga Akunnungu yagakuti pakusala mu chitabu chi che Hosea jwakulondola jwa Akunnungu, “Aŵala ŵangaŵa ŵandu ŵangu, chinaŵilanje, ‘Ŵandu ŵangu.’ Ni aŵala ŵangangwanonyela, ‘Chinanonyele.’
As He says in Hosea: “I will call them ‘My People’ who are not My people, and I will call her ‘My Beloved’ who is not My beloved,”
26 Ni pamalo paŵaŵilanjikwe, ‘Ŵanyamwe nganimma ŵandu ŵangu,’ chaŵilanjikwe ‘Ŵanache ŵa Akunnungu ŵajumi.’”
and, “It will happen that in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not My people,’ they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’”
27 Nombe che Isaya jwakulondola jwa Akunnungu akwakalipila Ŵaisilaeli kuti, “Namose winji wa uŵelesi wa Ŵaisilaeli uli mpela nsanga wa kumbwani, nambo nganatupa ŵachachikulupuswa.
Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the Israelites is like the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved.
28 Pakuŵa, Ambuje ngaakaŵa kwalamula ŵandu ŵa pachilambo pa.”
For the Lord will carry out His sentence on the earth thoroughly and decisively.”
29 Mpela che Isaya iŵalongolele kusala, “Ambuje ŵa ukombole ngakatulechele uŵelesi wa Ŵaisilaeli, wose tukaawile mpela ŵandu ŵa ku Sodoma, tukalandene ni ŵandu ŵa ku Gomola.”
It is just as Isaiah foretold: “Unless the Lord of Hosts had left us descendants, we would have become like Sodom, we would have resembled Gomorrah.”
30 Nipele, ana tujileje uli? Ŵandu ŵangaŵa Ŵayahudi ŵanganatenda chindu chachili chose kuti aloleche ŵambone paujo pa Akunnungu, ŵaloleche ali ŵambone paujo pa Akunnungu kwa litala lya chikulupi.
What then will we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;
31 Nambo Ŵaisilaeli ŵasosile malajisyo gakatesile aloleche ŵambone paujo pa Akunnungu kwa litala lya malajisyo, nganalolecheka ŵambone paujo pa Akunnungu.
but Israel, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it.
32 Ligongo lyachi nganalolecheka ŵambone paujo pa Akunnungu? Pakuŵa ŵasosile kutendekwa ŵambone kwa ipanganyo yao, ngaŵa kwa litala lya chikulupi. Ŵalikuŵele pa “Liganga lya kulikuŵalila.”
Why not? Because their pursuit was not by faith, but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,
33 Mpela Malembelo ga Akunnungu yagakuti pakusala, “Nnole chimiche liganga ku Sayuni, lichilyatende ŵandu agwanje, misile lwala luchilwagwisye ŵandu. Nambo juchankulupilile jwelejo, jwelejo ngajaluswa kose.”
as it is written: “See, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense; and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame.”
