1 Ana Myahudi akwete chichi cha kwapunda ŵandu ŵane? Pane kuumbala kukumpokasya ichichi?
What is the advantage, then, of being a Jew? Or what is the good of circumcision?
2 Elo, kwana upoche wekulungwa mose mose. Kundanda, Akunnungu ŵapele Ŵayahudi Liloŵe lyao kuti alikamule.
Great in every way. First of all, because the Jews were entrusted with God’s utterances.
3 Nambo chiiŵe uli iŵaga ŵampepe mwa ŵelewo nganakulupilila? Ana ungakulupilila wao chiuchityose chikulupichiko cha Akunnungu?
What follows then? Some, no doubt, showed a want of faith; but will their want of faith make God break faith? Heaven forbid!
4 Ngaŵa! Akunnungu aŵe jwausyene namuno kila mundu aŵele jwaunami. Mpela Malembelo ga Akunnungu yagakuti pakusala, “Kila pankuŵelecheta maloŵe genu gaŵalanjikwe kuti gali ga usyene ni pachachimmechetela nchipunde.”
God must prove true, though everyone prove a liar! As scripture says of God – ‘That you may be pronounced righteous in what you say, and gain your cause when people would judge you.’
5 Nambo iŵaga chigongomalo chetu chikulosya kuti Akunnungu akupanganya yambone, ana tujileje uli? Uli, tutujile Akunnungu ali ŵa chigongomalo pakutujamuka? Pelepa nguŵecheta ni ng'anisyo sya chiundu.
But what if our wrongdoing makes God’s righteousness all the clearer? Will God be wrong in inflicting punishment? (I can but speak as a person.) Heaven forbid!
6 Ngaŵa! Ikaliji yeleyo, Akunnungu akakombwele chinauli kwalamula ŵandu ŵa pachilambo?
Otherwise how can God judge the world?
7 Nambo, iŵaga unami wangu chiukamusye kuulosya kwannope usyene wa Akunnungu ni konjechesya ukulu wakwe, ana kwa chichi noneji ngulamulikwa kuti jwa sambi?
But, if my falsehood redounds to the glory of God, by making his truthfulness more apparent, why am I like others, still condemned as a sinner?
8 Iŵaga yeleyo, tusaleje, “Tutende yangalumbana kuti iiche yambone?” Kusyene kwana ŵandu ŵane ŵaakundukana une achitiji mechete yeleyo. Ŵandu ŵa chachilamulikwa yaikuti kuŵajilwa.
Why should we not say – as some people slanderously assert that we do say – ‘Let us do evil that good may come’? The condemnation of such people is indeed just!
9 Sambano tujileje uli? Tujileje uweji Ŵayahudi twapundile ŵandu ŵane? Ngaŵa! Pakuŵa masile kulosya kuti Ŵayahudi ni ŵandu ŵangaŵa Ŵayahudi wose akulongoswa ni sambi.
What follows, then? Are we Jews in any way superior to others? Not at all. Our indictment against both Jews and Greeks was that all alike were in subjection to sin.
10 Mpela Malembelo ga Akunnungu yagakuti pakusala, “Ngapagwa namuno jumo jwali jwambone paujo pa Akunnungu,
As scripture says – ‘There is not even one who is righteous,
11 ngapagwa namuno jumo jwali ni umanyilisi, ngapagwa namuno jumo jwakulajila kwamanyilila Akunnungu.
not one who understands, not one who is searching for God!
12 Wose ŵalesile Akunnungu, wose ŵangalimate. Ngapagwa jwakutendekanya yambone, nachiŵamuno jumo.
They have all gone astray; they have one and all become depraved; there is no one who is doing good – no, not one!’
13 Maloŵe gao gakununga nti lilembe lyangasiŵilwa ni ndimi syao sigumbele ulamba. Mu ngomo syao mukukopoka maloŵe gagali ni sumu chisau ni sumu ja majoka.
‘Their throats are like opened graves; they deceive with their tongues.’ ‘The venom of snakes lies behind their lips,’
14 Kang'wa syao sigumbele malweso ni maloŵe gakuŵaŵa.
‘And their mouths are full of bitter curses.’
15 Ali ŵandu ŵakuutuchila kukwaulaga ŵandu,
‘Swift are their feet to shed blood.
16 mwakupita mose akwikanago masauko ni malagasyo.
Distress and trouble dog their steps,
17 Ngakukumanyilila kutama kwa chitendewele,
and the path of peace they do not know.’
18 Ngakwajogopa Akunnungu namose kanandi.”
‘The fear of God is not before their eyes.’
19 Nipele tukumanyilila kuti maloŵe gose gagakuŵechetekwa ni Malajisyo ga che Musa gakwagamba ŵelewo ŵaali paasi pa Malajisyo go kuti kila mundu akakombola kulichenjela, ni ŵandu wose ŵa pachilambo alamulikwe ni Akunnungu.
Now we know that everything said in the Law is addressed to those who are under its authority, in order that every mouth may be closed, and to bring the whole world under God’s judgment.
20 Kwayele ngapagwa mundu juchaŵalanjikwe kuŵa jwambone paujo pa Akunnungu kwa kwitichisya Malajisyo, pakuŵa Malajisyo go gakunkamuchisya mundu kumanyilila kuti atesile sambi.
For no human being will be pronounced righteous before God as the result of obedience to Law; for it is Law that shows what sin is.
21 Nambo sambano, litala lya Akunnungu lya kwaŵalanjila ŵandu kuti ali ŵambone paujo pao liwoneche pangagakulupilila malajisyo. Malajisyo gagalembekwe ni che Musa ni ŵakulondola ŵa Akunnungu gakusala umboni nkati chindu chi.
But now, quite apart from Law, the divine righteousness stands revealed, and to it the Law and the prophets bear witness –
22 Akunnungu akwaŵalanjila ŵandu ali ŵambone paujo pao kwa litala lya kwakulupilila Che Yesu Kilisito. Akunnungu akutenda yeleyo kwa ŵanawose ŵakunkulupilila Kilisito, pakuŵa nganikupagwa kulekangana pasikati ja Ŵayahudi ni ŵandu ŵangaŵa Ŵayahudi.
the divine righteousness which is bestowed, through faith in Jesus Christ, on all, without distinction, who believe in him.
23 Pakuŵa ŵandu wose atesile sambi ni atalichile ni ukulu wa Akunnungu.
For all have sinned, and all fall short of God’s glorious ideal,
24 Nambo kwa ntuuka wa bule wa Akunnungu, ŵandu wose akuŵalanjikwa ŵambone paujo pa Akunnungu kwa litala li Che Yesu Kilisito jwakwawombola.
but, in his loving kindness, are being freely pronounced righteous through the deliverance found in Christ Jesus.
25 Akunnungu ŵantyosisye Che Yesu aŵe mbopesi, kuti kwa miasi jakwe akombole kwalechelesya ŵandu sambi syao kwa kunkulupilila Che Yesu. Akunnungu ŵatesile yeleyo kuti alosye umbone wao. Akanaŵe Kilisito kuwa Akunnungu ŵagambaga kwalola pe pangaalamula kwa ligongo lya sambi syao,
For God set him before the world, to be, by the shedding of his blood, a means of reconciliation through faith. And this God did to prove his righteousness, and because, in his forbearance, he had passed over the sins that people had previously committed;
26 nambo sambano ŵatyosisye Che Yesu alosye kuti ali ŵambone. Kwa kutenda yele Akunnungu asyene akulosya kuti ali ŵambone ni akukombola kuntenda mundu jwalijose jwakunkulupilila Che Yesu aŵalanjikwe jwambone paujo pao.
as a proof, I repeat, at the present time, of his own righteousness, that he might be righteous in our eyes, and might pronounce righteous the person who takes their stand on faith in Jesus.
27 Sambano chitulifunile chichi? Ngapagwa! Kwachichi! Pakuŵa akugajitichisya malajisyo? Ngwamba! Nambo kwa litala lya kwakulupilila Che Yesu.
What, then, becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what sort of Law? A Law requiring obedience? No, a Law requiring faith.
28 Kwayele tukulola kuti mundu akuŵalanjikwa kuŵa jwambone paujo pa Akunnungu kwa litala lya chikulupi ni ngaŵa kwa litala lya kugajitichisya Malajisyo.
For we conclude that a person is pronounced righteous on the ground of faith, quite apart from obedience to Law.
29 Ana Akunnungu ali Akunnungu ŵa Ŵayahudi pe? Ana nganaŵa Akunnungu jwa ŵandu ŵangaŵa Ŵayahudi nombe nawo? Elo, ali Akunnungu jwa ŵandu ŵangaŵa Ŵayahudi nombe nawo.
Or can it be that God is the God only of the Jews? Isn’t he also the God of the Gentiles?
30 Akunnungu ali ŵamo pewo. Ni ŵawowo ŵachachaŵalanjila umbone Ŵayahudi ni ŵandu ŵangaŵa Ŵayahudi kwa chikulupi chichocho.
Yes, of the Gentiles also, since there is only one God, and he will pronounce those who are circumcised righteous as the result of faith, and also those who are uncircumcised on their showing the same faith.
31 Ana ni kuti tukugajasa malajisyo kwa ligongo lya chikulupi? Ngwamba! Nambo tukulosya kuti tukugachimbichisya Malajisyo.
Do we, then, use this faith to abolish Law? Heaven forbid! No, we establish Law.
