< Matayo 14 >
1 Kele katema ko chilongola che Helode ŵapilikene ngani si Che Yesu.
At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the fame of Jesus,
2 Nipele, ŵaasalile achikatumetume ŵao, “Jwele mundu ni che Yohana Ŵakubatisya asyuchile mchiwa, lyele ni ligongo machili gakupanganya yakusimonjeka gakupanganya masengo nkati mwakwe.”
and said to his servants, This is John the baptist, he is certainly risen from the dead, and therefore miraculous things are done by him:
3 Che Helode ni juŵankamwile che Yohana ni kuntaŵa kwa minyolo, ŵammisile mu nyuumba jakutaŵilwa kwa ligongo lya che Helodia, ŵankwawo che Filipo nkulugwe.
for Herod had apprehended John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife;
4 Ligongo che Yohana ŵansalile che Helode kuti, “Ngankusachilwa kunnombela jwele jwankongwe jo!”
for John said to Him, It is not lawful for thee to have her: and he would have put him to death,
5 Che Helode ŵasachile kwaulaga che Yohana, nambo ŵajogwepe ŵandu pakuŵa kukwao che Yohana ŵaliji jwakulondola jwa Akunnungu.
but that he was afraid of the people; for they esteemed him as a prophet.
6 Nipele, pa chindimba cha lyuŵa lyekulungwa lya kupagwa kwao che Helode, mwali jwao che Helodia ŵatyasile mmbujo mwa achalendo ni mwali jula ŵaasengwasisye che Helode,
But when Herod's birth-day was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod, so
7 mpaka ŵalanjile achitiji, “Ngulumbilila, chinampe chachili chose chachinsache.”
that he promised her with an oath to give her whatever she would ask:
8 Nombejo ŵanyenjekwe ni achikulugwe, ŵatite, “Mumbeje panopano ntwe u che Yohana Ŵakubatisya mumbale.”
and she, being before instructed by her mother, said, Give me here in a dish the head of John the baptist:
9 Mwenye ŵasupwiche, nambo kwa ligongo lya kulumbila kwao ni ligongo lya achalendo ŵaŵatemi pamo nawo, ŵalajisye apegwe.
at which the king was distressed, but because of his oath, and of those who sat at table with him, he ordered it to be given her;
10 Nipele, che Helode ŵannajisye mundu ku nyuumba ja kutaŵila ŵandu kuti ŵakate che Yohana ntwe.
and he sent and beheaded John in the prison,
11 Ntwe wakwe wajigalikwe mu mbale ni kumpa mwali, nombejo ŵampele achikulugwe.
and his head was brought in a dish, and given to the young princess, who carried it to her mother:
12 Ŵakulijiganya ŵa che Yohana ŵaiche, ŵachijigele chiilu chakwe, ŵachisichile. Nipele ŵajawile kukwasalila Che Yesu.
and his disciples came and took up the body and buried it, and then went and told Jesus.
13 Che Yesu paŵapilikene ngani syo, ŵatyosile pepala kwa ngalaŵa, ŵajawile pantemela pajikape. Nambo ŵandu paŵapilikene, ŵakuiye kwa makongolo achityochelaga mmisi jao.
And when Jesus heard it, He departed from thence in a ship to a solitary place of retirement: but the people hearing where He was followed Him on foot from the cities:
14 Nipele, paŵaiche kumbwani, ŵauweni mpingo wekulungwa wa ŵandu, ŵakolele chanasa ni ŵalamisye ŵakulwala ŵao.
and when Jesus came out of the ship, He saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them; and He healed their sick.
15 Pakwaswele, ŵakulijiganya ŵao ŵaichilile ni kwasalila, “Apano patuli pa mwikonde ni sambano kuswele. Sambano, mwalanje ŵandu wo kuti ajaule mmisinda akalisumile chakulya.”
Now when it was evening his disciples came to Him and said, This is a desert place, and meal-time is now past; dismiss the people, that they may go away to the towns, and buy themselves victuals.
16 Che Yesu ŵaasalile, “Nganakola ligongo lya kwaula, ŵanyamwe mwape chakulya.”
But Jesus said to them, they have no need to go away, do ye give them something to eat.
17 Nambo ŵanyawo ŵanjanjile, “Tukwete mikate nsano pe ni somba siŵili.”
And they said, we have nothing here but five loaves and two fishes:
18 Che Yesu ŵaasalile, “Njise nawo apano.”
and He said, bring them hither to me.
19 Ŵaasalile ŵandu kuti atame paasi pa manyasi. Nipele, Che Yesu ŵajigele mikate nsano ni somba sila, ŵalolite kwinani, ŵatogolele Akunnungu ni kugaŵanya ni kwapa ŵakulijiganya mikate jo, nombewo ŵagaŵenye ŵandu.
And having ordered the multitudes to sit down upon the grass, and taken the five loaves and the two fishes, He looked up to heaven and blessed them; and He brake the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the people: and they did all eat, and were satisfied;
20 Ŵalile wose, ŵajikwite. Nipele ŵakulijiganya ŵalokwete sigasi sya mikate jila, ŵagumbesye itundu kumi na mbili.
and they took up what was left even of fragments twelve baskets full.
21 Wose ŵaŵalile ŵala ŵaliji achalume mpela elufu tano, pangaŵalanjikwa achimmasyeto ni ŵanache.
Now they that had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
22 Pangakaŵa, Che Yesu ŵaasalile ŵakulijiganya ŵao akwele mu ngalaŵa kuti alongolele peesi litanda asyene aninkujilanga mipingo ja ŵandu.
And presently after Jesus obliged the disciples to get into the ship, and to go before Him to the other side, while He dismissed the multitudes:
23 Paŵamasile kwalanga ŵandu, ŵakwesile kwitumbi ali jikape kukupopela. Pakwaswele, ŵelewo ŵaliji kweleko jikape.
and when He had dismissed them, He went up to a hill in private to pray.
24 Kele katema ko ngalaŵa jo jaŵandichile pambindikati litanda, nambo jaliji nkupungunyikwa kwannope ni matumbela pakuŵa mbungo jaliji nkujiputa.
And in the evening He was there alone. Now the ship was by this time in the midst of the sea, and violently tossed by the waves; for the wind was contrary:
25 Kumasikusiku, Che Yesu ŵaichile ŵakulijiganya ŵao achendaga mmeesi.
but in the fourth watch of the night Jesus came to them walking on the sea:
26 Ŵakulijiganya ŵao paŵaweni achendaga mmeesi, ŵajogwepe nnope ni ŵatite, “Lili lilaika!” Ŵagumilangaga kwa woga.
and when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were affrighted and said, It is an apparition;
27 Papopo, Che Yesu ŵasalile, “Muusimane ntima, ndili une, nkajogopa!”
and they cried out for fear: but Jesus immediately spake to them, saying, Take courage, it is I, be not afraid.
28 Che Petulo ŵatite, “Ambuje mwaŵaga mmwe, muusalile iche kukwenu njendaga mmeesi.”
Then Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it be thou, command me to come unto thee upon the waters.
29 Che Yesu ŵatite, “Njise.” Nipele che Petulo ŵatulwiche mu ngalaŵa, ŵajesile mmeesi, kwajaulila Che Yesu.
And He said, Come.
30 Nambo paŵajiweni mbungo, ŵajogwepe ni ŵatandite kutiŵila, ŵagumisile achitiji, “Ambuje mungulupusye!”
And Peter went down from the ship and walked upon the waters to go to Jesus: but seeing the wind boisterous, he was afraid, and beginning to sink cried out, Lord, save me.
31 Papopo Che Yesu ŵagolwesye nkono wao, ŵankamwile ni ŵansalile, “Mmwe ŵa chikulupi chachinandi, ligongo chi nkukola lipamba?”
And Jesus, immediately stretching forth his hand, laid hold of him, and saith to him, O man of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
32 Nipele, wose ŵakwesile mu ngalaŵa, ni mbungo jatulele.
So they got into the ship, and the wind ceased.
33 Nombe, wose ŵaŵaliji mu ngalaŵa ŵatindiŵalile ni kwakotamila, achitiji, “Isyene alakwe ndi Mwana jwa Akunnungu.”
Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped Him, saying, Thou art indeed the Son of God.
34 Ŵajombweche litanda ni ŵaiche ku msinda wa ku Genesaleti.
And they passed over and came into the country of Gennesaret.
35 Ŵandu ŵa pepala paŵaamanyi Che Yesu, ŵajenesye ngani muumbali mose mumwasyungwile. Nipele, ŵannyichisye ŵakulwala wose,
And the men of that place getting knowledge of Him, sent into all that country about; and they brought to Him all that were ill;
36 ni ŵachondelele kuti akwaye atamuno lujenje lya mwinjilo ŵao. Nombe wose ŵaŵankwaiye ŵalamile.
and intreated Him that they might but touch the border of his garment; and as many as touched Him were made perfectly well.
