< Luka 5 >

1 Lyuŵa limo Che Yesu ŵajimi mungulugulu litanda lya Genesaleti ni ŵandu ŵajinji ŵansyungwile ni kwaŵijikanya ali nkupilikanila liloŵe lya Akunnungu.
Once, when the people were pressing round Jesus as they listened to God’s Message, he happened to be standing by the shore of the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats close to the shore.
2 Ŵasiweni ngalaŵa siŵili mungulugulu litanda ni ŵakukoka somba ali akopweche, ali nkusaula nyau syao.
The fishermen had gone away from them and were washing the nets.
3 Che Yesu ŵajinjile mu ngalaŵa jimo jijaliji ji che Simoni, ŵaaŵendile che Simoni ajisojechesye mmeesi, kwakutalichila kanandi kutyochela mungulugulu litanda. Ŵaujiganyisye mpingo wa ŵandu ali atemi mu ngalaŵa.
So, getting into one of the boats, which belonged to Simon, Jesus asked him to push off a little way from the shore, and then sat down and taught the people from the boat.
4 Paŵamasile kwiganya ŵaasalile che Simoni, “Njitute ngalaŵa kwaula pa meesi ga kwendesya mu litanda, nsiponye nyau syenu ni kukoka somba.”
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon: “Push off into deep water, and throw out your nets for a haul.”
5 Che Simoni ŵajanjile kuti, “Ambuje, tulajilile kukoka somba chilo chose pangapata chindu, nambo pakuŵa nsaasile chinasiponye nyau.”
“We have been hard at work all night, Sir,” answered Simon, “and have not caught anything, but, at your bidding, I will throw out the nets.”
6 Paŵapanganyisye yeleyo ŵakokwele somba syesijinji nnope ni nyau syao syatandite kukutuka.
They did so, and enclosed such a great shoal of fish that their nets began to break.
7 Ŵaaŵilasile achinjao ŵaŵaliji mu ngalaŵa jiine aichanje kukwakamusya. Ŵaiche ni ŵagumbesye somba ngalaŵa siŵili ni ngalaŵa syo syatandite kutitimila.
So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them; and they came and filled both the boats so full of fish that they were almost sinking.
8 Che Simoni Petulo paŵaiweni yeleyo, ŵatindiŵele paujo pa Che Yesu achitiji, “Ambuje, ntyoche paujo pangu pakuŵa uneji ndili mundu jwa sambi!”
When Simon Peter saw this, he threw himself down at Jesus’ knees, exclaiming: “Master, leave me, for I am a sinful man!”
9 Che Simoni pamo ni achinjakwe ŵasimosile ligongo lya winji wa somba syapatile sila.
For he and all who were with him were lost in amazement at the haul of fish which they had made;
10 Iyoyo peyo che Yakobo ni che Yohana ŵanache ŵa che Sebedayo, ŵakukoka achinjakwe che Simoni nombewo ŵasimosile. Che Yesu ŵaasalile che Simoni, “Nkajogopa, kutandilila sambano chimme ŵakwaikanawo ŵandu kwa Ambuje.”
and so, too, were James and John, Zebediah’s sons, who were Simon’s partners. “Do not be afraid,” Jesus said to Simon; “from to-day you shall catch men.”
11 Nipele paŵamasile kusiichisya ngalaŵa sila mungulugulu litanda, ŵalesile yose ni ŵakuiye Che Yesu.
And, when they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything, and followed him.
12 Che Yesu paŵaliji musi umo mu misi ja kweleko, paliji ni jwannume juŵaliji ni matana chiilu chose, nombejo paŵammweni Che Yesu ŵagonile manguku ni kwachondelela aninkuti, “Ambuje mwasakaga muswejesye.”
On one occasion Jesus was staying in a town, when he saw a man who was covered with leprosy. When the leper saw Jesus, he threw himself on his face and implored his help: “Master, if only you are willing, you are able to make me clean.”
13 Che Yesu ŵajongwele nkono ni ŵankwaiye ni kuti, “Ngusaka, nswejele!” Papopo mundu jo ŵalamile matana.
Stretching out his hand, Jesus touched him, saying as he did so: “I am willing; become clean.” Instantly the leprosy left the man;
14 Nombe Che Yesu ŵansalile, “Munansalile mundu jwalijose nambo njaule nkalilosye kwa jwambopesi, nkatyosye mbopesi kwa ligongo lya kuswejela kwenu mpela iŵatite pakusala che Musa uŵe umboni kuti nnamile.”
and then Jesus impressed upon him that he was not to say a word to any one, “but,” he added, “set out and show yourself to the priest, and make the offerings for your cleansing, in the manner directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.”
15 Nambo ngani syasikwagamba Che Yesu syapundile kwenela pana pose ni mipingo ja ŵandu jasongangene kukwapikanila ni kulamiswa ilwele yao.
However, the story about Jesus spread all the more, and great crowds came together to listen to him, and to be cured of their illnesses;
16 Nambo Che Yesu ŵalisapwile pajika pe ni kupopela.
but Jesus used to withdraw to lonely places and pray.
17 Lyuŵa limo, Che Yesu ŵaliji nkwiganya, Mafalisayo ni ŵakwiganya malajisyo kutyochela misi jose ja ku Yudea ni ku Galilaya ni ku Yelusalemu ŵatemi papopo. Nipele machili ga Ambuje galiji pamo ni Che Yesu ligongo lya kwalamya ŵandu ŵa kulwala.
On one of those days, when Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and Doctors of the Law were sitting near by. (They had come from all the villages in Galilee and Judea, and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was upon Jesus, so that he could work cures.)
18 Ŵaiche ŵandu ŵampepe ali anjigele mundu jwakutatala ali agonile mu chitagala, ŵalinjile kwajinjisya nkati achisakaga kwaŵika paujo pa Che Yesu.
And there some men brought on a bed a man who was paralysed. They tried to get him in and lay him before Jesus;
19 Nambo ŵalepele kwinjila nkati ligongo lya winji wa ŵandu. Nipele ŵakwesile pachanya nyuumba, ŵapowele chipagala ni kwatulusya pamo ni chitagala mbindikati ja ŵandu paujo pa Che Yesu.
but, finding no way of getting him in owing to the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him through the tiles, with his pallet, into the middle of the people and in front of Jesus.
20 Nombe Che Yesu paŵachiweni chikulupi chao ŵansalile, “Ambusanga, nlecheleswe sambi syenu.”
When he saw their faith, Jesus said: “Friend, your sins have been forgiven you.”
21 Mafalisayo ni ŵakwiganya Malajisyo ŵatandite kuliusyanga achitiji, “Aŵa ni ŵaani ŵakwatukana Akunnungu? Ngapagwa mundu jwakukombola kulechelesya sambi ikaŵe Akunnungu pe!”
The Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees began debating about this. “Who is this man who speaks so blasphemously?” they asked. “Who can forgive sins except God?”
22 Nambo Che Yesu ŵasimanyi ng'anisyo syao ni ŵausisye kuti “Kwachichi nkuliusya yeleyi mmitima jenu?
When Jesus became aware of the way in which they were debating, he turned to them and exclaimed: “What are you debating with yourselves?
23 Chaapi chili chakwepepala nnope, kusala, ‘Sambi syenu silecheleswe,’ pane kusala, ‘Njimuche njaule?’
Which is the easier? — to say ‘Your sins have been forgiven you’? or to say ‘Get up, and walk about’?
24 Nipele ngusaka mmanyilile kuti Mwana jwa Mundu akwete ulamusi wa kwalechelesya ŵandu sambi syao pachilambo pano.” Pelepo ŵansalile mundu jwakutatala jo, “Njimuche, njigale chitagala chenu, njaule kumangwenu.”
But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” — he spoke to the paralysed man — “To you I say, Get up, and take up your pallet, and go to your home.”
25 Papopo mundu jula ŵajimwiche paujo pao ni kunyakula chitagala chao chiŵagonele ni kwaula kumangwao achakusyaga Akunnungu.
Instantly the man stood up before their eyes, took up what he had been lying on, and went to his home, praising God.
26 Ŵanawose ŵasimosile ni kukamulwa ni lipamba, ŵaakusisye Akunnungu achitiji “Lelo tuiweni yakusimonjeka.”
The people, one and all, were lost in amazement, and praised God; and in great awe they said: “We have seen marvellous things to-day!”
27 Paŵamasile gelego, Che Yesu ŵakopweche paasa ni ŵammweni mundu jumpepe jwakukumbikanya nsongo liina lyakwe che Lawi ali atemi mu nyuumba ja kulipila nsongo ni Che Yesu ŵansalile, “Munguye une!”
After this, Jesus went out; and he noticed a tax-gatherer, named Levi, sitting in the tax-office, and said to him: “Follow me.”
28 Nombe che Lawi ŵajimi, ŵalesile yose ni kwakuya.
Levi left everything and got up and followed him.
29 Che Lawi ŵaalaliche Che Yesu aiche kulya mu nyuumba jao. Mpingo wa ŵandu ŵakukumbikanya nsongo ni ŵandu ŵane ŵatemi kulya pamo nawo.
And Levi gave a great entertainment at his house, in honour of Jesus; and a large number of tax-gatherers and others were at table with them.
The Pharisees and the teachers of the Law belonging to their party complained of this to the disciples of Jesus.”
31 Che Yesu ŵajanjile, “Ŵangakulwala ngakwalajila ŵantela ikaŵe ŵakulwala.
In answer Jesus said: “It is not those who are well that need a doctor, but those who are ill.
32 Nganiika kukwaŵilanga ŵandu ŵakupanganya yaili yambone paujo pa Akunnungu nambo ŵaali ni sambi kuti aleche sambi.”
I have not come to call the religious, but the outcast, to repent.”
33 Ŵandu ŵane ŵa mumpingo ula ŵaasalile Che Yesu, “Ŵakulijiganya ŵa che Yohana Ŵakubatisya akutaŵa kaŵilikaŵili ni kupopela ni ŵakulijiganya ŵa Mafalisayo akupanganya iyoyo peyo. Nambo ŵakulijiganya ŵenu akulya ni kung'wa.”
“John’s disciples,” they said to Jesus, “Often fast and say prayers, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, while yours are eating and drinking!”
34 Che Yesu ŵajanjile, “Uli, ana nkuganisya kuti nkukombola kwatendekasya achambusanga ŵa mlombela ataŵe akuno ali pamo nawo?
But Jesus answered them: “Can you make the bridegroom’s friends fast while the bridegroom is with them?
35 Nambo chikaiche katema pachajigalikwe mlombela jo pasikati jao, gele moŵa go chachitaŵa.”
But the days will come — a time when the bridegroom will be parted from them; and they will fast then, when those days come.”
36 Che Yesu ŵatanjile achi chitagu chi, “Ngapagwa mundu jwakupapula chigamba mu nguo jasambano ni kutotela mu nguo jewisale atamuno atendaga yeleyo chajijonanje nguo jasambano jo ni sooni, chele chigamba cha nguo jasambano cho ngachijilana ni jewisale jo.
Then, as an illustration, Jesus said to them: “No man ever tears a piece from a new garment and puts it upon an old one; for, if he does, he will not only tear the new garment, but the piece from the new one will not match the old.
37 Sooni ngapagwa mundu jwakutaga divai jasambano mu misaku jewisale jekolochekwe ni mapende pakuŵa jele divai jasambano jo chijipapule misaku ni divai chijimwasiche ni misaku jo chijijonasiche.
And no man puts new wine into old wine-skins; for, if he does, the new wine will burst the skins, and the wine itself will run out, and the skins be lost.
38 Nambo divai jasambano jikutajikwa mu misaku jasambano.
But new wine must be put into fresh skins.
39 Ngapagwa jwakusaka kung'wa divai jasambano ali ang'wele jakalakala pakuŵa akuti, ‘Jele jakalakala jo ni jambone nnope.’”
No man after drinking old wine wishes for new. ‘No,’ he says, ‘the old is excellent.’”
