< Masengo 19 >
1 Nipele, yaliji che Apolo paŵaliji ku Kolinto, che Paolo ŵapite kuchilambo cha ikwesya ni ŵaiche ku Efeso. Kweleko ŵaasimene ŵakulijiganya ŵane ŵa Che Yesu,
And it came to pass, in Apollos being in Corinth, Paul having gone through the upper parts, came to Ephesus, and having found certain disciples,
2 ni ŵausisye, “Ana pamwakulupilile Che Yesu mwampochele Mbumu jwa Akunnungu?” Ni ŵanyawo ŵajanjile, “Ngwamba! Natamuno kupilikana kose nganitupilikane kuti apali Mbumu jwa Akunnungu.”
he said to them, “Having believed, did you receive the Holy Spirit?” And they said to him, “But we did not even hear whether there is any Holy Spirit”;
3 Ni che Paolo ŵausisye, “Nambi mwabatiswe ubatiso chi?” Ni ŵanyawo ŵajanjile, “Ubatiso u che Yohana.”
and he said to them, “Into what, then, were you immersed?” And they said, “Into John’s immersion.”
4 Che Paolo ŵatite, “Ubatiso u che Yohana waliji wakulosya kuti ŵandu alesile sambi. Che Yohana ŵaasalile ŵandu ŵaakulupilile ŵatachiika panyuma pao, ŵelewo ali Che Yesu.”
And Paul said, “John, indeed, immersed with an immersion of conversion, saying to the people that they should believe in Him who is coming after him—that is, in the Christ—Jesus”;
5 Paŵapilikene yeleyo ŵabatiswe kwa liina lya Ambuje Che Yesu.
and they, having heard, were immersed into the Name of the Lord Jesus,
6 Nipele, che Paolo ŵaŵisile makono gao pa ŵanyawo, ni Mbumu jwa Akunnungu ŵaatuluchile ni ŵatandite kuŵechetanga iŵecheto ineine, iyoyo ŵatandite kulalichila utenga wa Akunnungu.
and Paul having laid [his] hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, they were also speaking with tongues, and prophesying,
7 Ŵandu wose wo ŵaliji mpela ŵandu likumi ni ŵaŵili.
and all the men were, as it were, twelve.
8 Che Paolo ŵajinjilaga mu nyuumba ja kupopelela jila kwa miesi jitatu ni ŵaachisyaga kuti akulupilile Umwenye wa Akunnungu.
And having gone into the synagogue, he was speaking boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading the things concerning the Kingdom of God,
9 Nambo ŵandu ŵane ŵaliji ŵakukakatima mitima ni ŵakanile kukulupilila, ŵatandite kuŵechetanga yangalumbana nkati ŵandu ŵakulikuya Litala lya Ambuje pasikati ja ŵandu. Pelepo che Paolo ŵaalesile, ŵaajigele ŵakulijiganya ŵa Ambuje ni ŵaliji nkukunguluka nawo moŵa gose mu chuumba chakulijiganyila chi che Tulona.
and when certain were hardened and were disbelieving, speaking evil of The Way before the multitude, having departed from them, he separated the disciples, reasoning every day in the school of a certain Tyrannus.
10 Yeleyo yatendekwe yaka iŵili mpaka ŵandu wose ŵaŵatamaga ku Asia ni Ŵayahudi pamo ni Ŵagiliki, ŵapilikene Liloŵe lya Ambuje.
And this happened for two years so that all those dwelling in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks,
11 Akunnungu ŵapanganyisye yakusimonjeka yejinji kwa makono ga che Paolo.
also mighty works—not common—God was working through the hands of Paul,
so that even to the ailing were brought from his body handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them; the evil spirits also went forth from them.
13 Ŵayahudi ŵampepe ŵakugaŵinga masoka mwa ŵandu, ŵajesilejesile akuno ni akunokuno achilingaga kulikolanga liina lya Ambuje Che Yesu, kwa ŵele ŵaŵakwete masoka achitiji, “Ngunsalila kwa liina lya Ambuje Che Yesu jwakulalichilwa ni che Paolo, ntyoche.”
And certain of the wandering exorcist Jews, took on [them] to name over those having the evil spirits the Name of the Lord Jesus, saying, “We adjure you by Jesus, whom Paul preaches”;
14 Ŵaŵatendaga yeleyo, ŵaliji ŵanache nsano ni ŵaŵili wa che Sikewa Jŵambopesi Jwankulu jwa Chiyahudi.
and there were certain—seven sons of Sceva, a Jew, a chief priest—who are doing this thing;
15 Nambo lisoka lila lyaajanjile ŵanyawo, “Che Yesu ngwamanyilila ni che Paolo nombejo ngummanyilila, nambo ŵanyamwe ndi ŵaani?”
and the evil spirit, answering, said, “I know Jesus, and I am acquainted with Paul; and you—who are you?”
16 Nipele jwamasoka jo ŵasumbile ni kwagalagasya mpaka ŵanache ŵa che Sikewa wo ŵautwiche mu nyuumba jo ali matakope ni maŵanga gakwe.
And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaping on them, and having overcome them, prevailed against them, so that they fled naked and wounded out of that house,
17 Ngani ji jamanyiche kwa jwalijose juŵatamaga ku Efeso, kutandila Myahudi kwichila Ŵagiliki. Wose ŵakamwilwe ni lipamba, ni ŵalikusisye liina lya Ambuje Che Yesu.
and this became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who are dwelling at Ephesus, and fear fell on them all, and the Name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified;
18 Ŵajinji mwa ŵele ŵaŵakulupilile Che Yesu ŵaiche ni ŵajitichisye paujo pa ŵandu yangalimate iŵaitesile.
many also of those who believed were coming, confessing and declaring their acts,
and many of those who had practiced the superfluous arts, having brought the scrolls together, were burning [them] before all; and they reckoned together the prices of them, and found [it] fifty thousand pieces of silver,
20 Kwanti yeleyo, Liloŵe lya Ambuje lyapundile ni kwenela ni kola machili nnope.
so powerfully was the word of God increasing and prevailing.
21 Payamasile yeleyo, che Paolo ŵasachile kwaula ku Yelusalemu achipitilaga ku Makedonia ni ku Akaya. Ŵatite, “Pachiiche kweleko, ikuumajila kwaula ku Loma nombe.”
And when these things were fulfilled, Paul purposed in the Spirit, having gone through Macedonia and Achaia, to go on to Jerusalem, saying, “After my being there, it is also necessary for me to see Rome”;
22 Ni ŵalajisye ŵaŵili mwa ŵakwakamuchisya ŵao, che Timoseo ni che Elasto, kuti ŵalongolele ku Makedonia ni nsyene ŵasigalile mu Asia kwa katema.
and having sent to Macedonia two of those ministering to him—Timotheus and Erastus—he himself stayed a time in Asia.
23 Katema ko ni katema kakatyochele utinda wekulungwa ku Efeso ko ligongo lya Litala lya Ambuje.
And there came, at that time, not a little stir about The Way,
24 Jwapali mundu liina lyakwe che Demetilio jwakusyana madini ga feza. Jweleju ŵaliji ni masengo ga kolosya inyago ya nyuumba sya mwana sisyaliji mpela nyuumba ja nnungu jwankongwe jwakuŵilanjikwa Atemi. Masengo go gaapokasisye kwannope ŵamasengo ŵao.
for a certain one, Demetrius by name, a worker in silver, making silver sanctuaries of Artemis, was bringing to the craftsmen not a little gain,
25 Che Demetilio ŵasongangenye ŵamasengo ŵao pamo ni ŵandu ŵane ŵaŵaliji ŵamasengo mpela gagogo pego ni kwasalila, “Ŵandumwe, nkumanyililanga kuti ipanje yetu itukupata yi ikukopoka mmalonda gagaga pega.
whom, having brought in a crowd together, and those who worked around such things, he said, “Men, you know that by this work we have our wealth;
26 Sano nkulola ni kulipikanila mwachinsyene che Paolo yakuti pakupanganya, nombe ngaŵa pa Efeso pe nambo pa Asia pose. Che Paolo ju ŵaachisisye ni kwagalausya ŵandu ajitichisye kuti achiminungu ŵapanganyiswe ni makono ga ŵandu ngaŵa achiminungu ŵa usyene.
and you see and hear, that not only at Ephesus, but almost in all Asia, this Paul, having persuaded, turned away a great multitude, saying that they who are made by hands are not gods;
27 Nipele kupikaniche kuti malonda getu ga chigajaluche. Ni ngaŵa malonda getu pega, nambo ni nyuumba ja nnungu jwankongwe Atemi ngajichimbichikwa kose. Ni mbesi jakwe lumbili lwa ŵelewo ŵakunlamba ŵa Asia wose ni ŵandu wose ŵa mchilambo chiuchimala.”
and not only is this department in danger for us of coming into disregard, but also, that of the great goddess Artemis, the temple is to be reckoned for nothing, and also her greatness is about to be brought down, whom all Asia and the world worships.”
28 Ŵandu ŵala paŵapilikene yeleyo yaachimile kwannope ni kutanda gumilanga achitiji, “Jwankulu ali Atemi jwa Ŵaefeso!”
And having heard, and having become full of wrath, they were crying out, saying, “Great [is] the Artemis of the Ephesians!”
29 Musi wose wagumbele utindiganyo. Ni ŵaakamwile che Gayo ni che Alisitako, ŵaŵatamaga ku Makedonia ŵaŵaliji mu ulendo umo ni che Paolo, ni ŵaajawisye kwa kwanguya kuluŵala lwa micheso.
And the whole city was filled with confusion; they rushed also with one accord into the theater, having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians, Paul’s fellow-travelers.
30 Che Paolo nsyene ŵasachile kwinjila mu mpingo wa ŵandu mula nambo ŵakwakuya ŵala ŵankanyisye.
And on Paul’s resolving to enter in to the populace, the disciples were not permitting him,
31 Achakulu ŵane ŵa chilambo cha ku Asia ŵaliji achambusanga ŵao che Paolo, ŵapelechele utenga wakwachondelela kuti akalijausya nsyene ku luŵala lwa micheso ko.
and also some of the chief men of Asia, being his friends, having sent to him, were pleading [with] him not to venture into the theater himself.
32 Katema ko kila mundu jwagumisile, ŵane achi ni ŵane achila, pakuŵa nkungulu ula waliji jugulijuguli, ŵajinji nganaimanyililanga ligongo lya kusongangana kwao.
Some indeed, therefore, were calling out one thing, and some another, for the assembly was confused, and the greater part did not know for what they had come together;
33 Pakuŵa Ŵayahudi ŵantesile che Alekisanda akopoche mmbujo mwa ŵandu, ŵandu ŵampepe mu mpingo mula ŵaganisisye kuti ali jwelejo. Nipele che Alekisanda ŵajongwele nkono ni kwamyalasya achisakaga kuliŵalanga paujo pa mpingo wa ŵandu.
and out of the multitude they put forward Alexander—the Jews thrusting him forward—and Alexander having beckoned with the hand, wished to make defense to the populace,
34 Nambo paŵammanyilile kuti ŵaliji Myahudi, wose ŵagumisile kwana kamo kwa masaa gaŵili, “Jwankulu ali Atemi jwa Ŵaefeso!”
and having known that he is a Jew, one voice came out of all, for about two hours, crying, “Great [is] the Artemis of the Ephesians!”
35 Mbesi, jwakulemba jwa pamusi po ŵakombwele kwamyalasya, ŵaasalile, “Ŵanyamwe ŵandu ŵa ku Efeso, kila mundu pelepa akumanyilila kuti ŵandu ŵa musi wa Efeso wu, ni ŵakujilindilila nyuumba ja nnungu Atemi, ni ŵakuligosa liganga lyeswela lilyagwile kutyochela kwinani lila.
And the public clerk having quieted the multitude, says, “Men, Ephesians, why, who is the man that does not know that the city of the Ephesians is temple-keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of that which fell down from Zeus?
36 Ngapagwa jwalijose jwakukombola kukanila yeleyo. Nipele mmyalalanje, nkatenda chachili chose kwakwanguya.
These things, then, being undeniable, it is necessary for you to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.
37 Mwaŵilasile ŵandu ŵa pelepa namuno nganajinyelusya nyuumba ja nnungu pane kuntukana nnungu jwetu jwankongwe.
For you brought these men, who are neither temple-robbers nor slandering of your goddess;
38 Nipele, iŵaga che Demetilio ni ŵamasengo ŵao akwete magambo gao nkati ŵandu ŵa, mikungulu jipali ni achakulu ŵa ilambo nombe nawo apali, akukombola kuŵechetelana kweleko.
if indeed, therefore, Demetrius and the craftsmen with him have a matter with anyone, court [days] are held, and there are proconsuls; let them accuse one another.
39 Nambo iŵaga kwana magambo gane njausye ku nkungulu waukukundikwa.
And if you seek after anything concerning other matters, it will be determined in the legal assembly;
40 Pakuŵa akakombwele kutuŵechetela ligongo lya kutindiganya kwatukutesile lelo jino. Kutindiganya ku nganilipagwa ligongo ni sooni ngatukombola kusala ligongo lya kutenda nkungulu wu.”
for we are also in peril of being accused of insurrection in regard to this day, there being no occasion by which we will be able to give an account of this concourse”;
41 Paŵamasile kuŵecheta yeleyo, ŵamwasisye ŵandu ŵaŵasongangene wo.
and having said these things, he dismissed the assembly.
