約伯記 22
1 提幔人以利法回答說：
Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
2 人豈能使上帝有益呢？ 智慧人但能有益於己。
Can a man be profitable unto God? surely he that is wise is profitable unto himself.
3 你為人公義，豈叫全能者喜悅呢？ 你行為完全，豈能使他得利呢？
Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain [to him], that thou makest thy ways perfect?
4 豈是因你敬畏他 就責備你、審判你嗎？
Is it for thy fear [of him] that he reproveth thee, that he entereth with thee into judgment?
5 你的罪惡豈不是大嗎？ 你的罪孽也沒有窮盡；
Is not thy wickedness great? neither is there any end to thine iniquities.
6 因你無故強取弟兄的物為當頭， 剝去貧寒人的衣服。
For thou hast taken pledges of thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
7 困乏的人，你沒有給他水喝； 飢餓的人，你沒有給他食物。
Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.
8 有能力的人就得地土； 尊貴的人也住在其中。
But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man, he dwelt in it.
9 你打發寡婦空手回去， 折斷孤兒的膀臂。
Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
10 因此，有網羅環繞你， 有恐懼忽然使你驚惶；
Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee,
11 或有黑暗蒙蔽你， 並有洪水淹沒你。
Or darkness, that thou canst not see, and abundance of waters cover thee.
12 上帝豈不是在高天嗎？ 你看星宿何其高呢！
Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!
13 你說：上帝知道甚麼？ 他豈能看透幽暗施行審判呢？
And thou sayest, What doth God know? can he judge through the thick darkness?
14 密雲將他遮蓋，使他不能看見； 他周遊穹蒼。
Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.
15 你要依從上古的道嗎？ 這道是惡人所行的。
Wilt thou keep the old way which wicked men have trodden?
16 他們未到死期，忽然除滅； 根基毀壞，好像被江河沖去。
Who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream:
17 他們向上帝說：離開我們吧！ 又說：全能者能把我們怎麼樣呢？
Who said unto God, Depart from us; and, What can the Almighty do for us?
18 哪知上帝以美物充滿他們的房屋； 但惡人所謀定的離我好遠。
Yet he fired their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
19 義人看見他們的結局就歡喜； 無辜的人嗤笑他們，
The righteous see it, and are glad; and the innocent laugh them to scorn:
20 說：那起來攻擊我們的果然被剪除， 其餘的都被火燒滅。
[Saying], Surely they that did rise up against us are cut off, and the remnant of them the fire hath consumed.
21 你要認識上帝，就得平安； 福氣也必臨到你。
Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.
22 你當領受他口中的教訓， 將他的言語存在心裏。
Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
23 你若歸向全能者，從你帳棚中遠除不義， 就必得建立。
If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up; if thou put away unrighteousness far from thy tents.
24 要將你的珍寶丟在塵土裏， 將俄斐的黃金丟在溪河石頭之間；
And lay thou [thy] treasure in the dust, and [the gold of] Ophir among the stones of the brooks;
25 全能者就必為你的珍寶， 作你的寶銀。
And the Almighty shall be thy treasure, and precious silver unto thee.
26 你就要以全能者為喜樂， 向上帝仰起臉來。
For then shalt thou delight thyself in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
27 你要禱告他，他就聽你； 你也要還你的願。
Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee; and thou shalt pay thy vows.
28 你定意要做何事，必然給你成就； 亮光也必照耀你的路。
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; and light shall shine upon thy ways.
29 人使你降卑，你仍可說：必得高升； 謙卑的人，上帝必然拯救。
When they cast [thee] down, thou shalt say, [There is] lifting up; and the humble person he shall save.
30 人非無辜，上帝且要搭救他； 他因你手中清潔，必蒙拯救。
He shall deliver [even] him that is not innocent: yea, he shall be delivered through the cleanness of thine hands.
