约伯记 35

1 以利户又说：

Moreover Elihu answered, and said,

2 你以为有理， 或以为你的公义胜于 神的公义，

What is this thou think in judgment? Who are thou that thou said, I am righteousness before the Lord?

3 才说这与我有什么益处？ 我不犯罪比犯罪有什么好处呢？

That thou said, What advantage will it be to thee? And, What profit shall I have more than if I had sinned?

4 我要回答你和在你这里的朋友。

I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

5 你要向天观看， 瞻望那高于你的穹苍。

Look to the heavens, and see. And behold the skies, which are higher than thou.

6 你若犯罪，能使 神受何害呢？ 你的过犯加增，能使 神受何损呢？

If thou have sinned, what do thou effect against him? And if thy transgressions be multiplied, what do thou to him?

7 你若是公义，还能加增他什么呢？ 他从你手里还接受什么呢？

If thou be righteous, what do thou give him? Or what does he receive of thy hand?

8 你的过恶或能害你这类的人； 你的公义或能叫世人得益处。

Thy wickedness is a man as thou are, and thy righteousness is a son of man.

9 人因多受欺压就哀求， 因受能者的辖制便求救，

Because of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help because of the arm of the mighty.

10 却无人说：造我的 神在哪里？ 他使人夜间歌唱，

But none says, Where is God my maker who gives songs in the night,

11 教训我们胜于地上的走兽， 使我们有聪明胜于空中的飞鸟。

who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?

12 他们在那里， 因恶人的骄傲呼求，却无人答应。

There they cry, but none gives answer, because of the pride of evil men.

13 虚妄的呼求， 神必不垂听； 全能者也必不眷顾。

Surely God will not hear an empty cry, nor will the Almighty regard it.

14 何况你说，你不得见他； 你的案件在他面前，你等候他吧。

How much less when thou say thou do not behold him. The case is before him, and thou wait for him!

15 但如今因他未曾发怒降罚， 也不甚理会狂傲，

But now, because he has not visited in his anger, nor does he greatly regard folly,

16 所以约伯开口说虚妄的话， 多发无知识的言语。

so Job opens his mouth in vanity. He multiplies words without knowledge.
