民數記 11
1 當時人民怨聲載道，怨聲已傳入上主的耳中；上主聽見，遂發怒上主的火在他們中燃起，焚燒了營幕的邊緣。
And the people were as murmurers, speaking evil in the ears of the LORD; and when the LORD heard it, His anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and devoured in the uttermost part of the camp.
2 人民遂向梅瑟求救；梅瑟懇求了上主，火就熄滅了，
And the people cried unto Moses; and Moses prayed unto the LORD, and the fire abated.
3 遂給那地方起名叫塔貝辣，因為上主的火曾在他們中燃燒起來。
And the name of that place was called Taberah, because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.
4 那些跟百姓來的雜族神甚是貪求口腹，連以色列子民也開始哭泣說：「誰給我們肉吃﹖
And the mixed multitude that was among them fell a lusting; and the children of Israel also wept on their part, and said: 'Would that we were given flesh to eat!
5 我們記得：在埃及我們可隨便吃魚，還有胡瓜、西瓜、韭菜、蔥和蒜。
We remember the fish, which we were wont to eat in Egypt for nought; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;
6 現在我們的心靈憔悴，我們眼見的除「瑪納」外，什麼也沒有。」「
but now our soul is dried away; there is nothing at all; we have nought save this manna to look to.' —
7 瑪納」形似胡荽種子，色彩有如珍珠。
Now the manna was like coriander seed, and the appearance thereof as the appearance of bdellium.
8 人民四散收斂，用磨研細，或在臼內搗碎，在鍋內煮了做成餅，它的滋味有如油餅的滋味。
The people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and seethed it in pots, and made cakes of it; and the taste of it was as the taste of a cake baked with oil.
9 夜間露水降在營上時，也降下「瑪納。」
And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it. —
10 梅瑟聽見百姓家家戶戶，各在帳棚門口悲哭。上主大發忿怒，梅瑟見了也很難受，
And Moses heard the people weeping, family by family, every man at the door of his tent; and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; and Moses was displeased.
11 遂對上主說：「你為什麼難為你的僕人﹖為什麼我在你眼中不蒙寵幸，竟將管理這百姓的擔子全放在我身上﹖
And Moses said unto the LORD: 'Wherefore hast Thou dealt ill with Thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in Thy sight, that Thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
12 莫非是我懷孕了這百姓，或是我生了他們，你竟對我說：你要懷抱他們，如同褓母懷抱乳兒，直到進入你對他們的祖先所誓許的地方﹖
Have I conceived all this people? have I brought them forth, that Thou shouldest say unto me: Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing-father carrieth the sucking child, unto the land which Thou didst swear unto their fathers?
13 我從那裏拿肉給這百姓吃﹖因為他們向我哭訴說：給我們肉吃!
Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they trouble me with their weeping, saying: Give us flesh, that we may eat.
14 我獨自不能抱著這百姓，這為我太重。
I am not able to bear all this people myself alone, because it is too heavy for me.
15 若你願這樣對待我，如果我在你眼中得寵，求你殺了我罷! 免得我受這苦楚。」
And if Thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray Thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in Thy sight; and let me not look upon my wretchedness.'
16 上主對梅瑟說：「你給我由以色列老年人中召選七十人，你知道他們是民間的老前輩和會辦事的人，領他們進入會幕，叫他們同你一起站在那裏。
And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Gather unto Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with thee.
17 在那裏我要降下，與你交談，取些你身上具有的神能，賦給他們，叫他們與你分擔管理人民的重擔，不讓你個人獨自承擔。
And I will come down and speak with thee there; and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.
18 你對民眾說：你們聖潔自己直到明天，你們就會有肉吃，因為上主已聽見你們哀哭說：誰給我們肉吃﹖我們在埃及是多麼好! 如今上主要給你們肉吃了；
And say thou unto the people: Sanctify yourselves against to-morrow, and ye shall eat flesh; for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying: Would that we were given flesh to eat! for it was well with us in Egypt; therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
19 不但是一天、兩天、五天、十天、二十天，你們有肉吃，
Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
20 而是整月，直到肉從你們的鼻子裏出來，吃的生厭，因為你們輕視了住在你們中的上主，在他面前涕泣說：為什麼我們出離了埃及﹖」
but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you; because that ye have rejected the LORD who is among you, and have troubled Him with weeping, saying: Why, now, came we forth out of Egypt?'
21 梅瑟說：「與我同住的人民，步行的男子就有六十萬，你卻說：我要給他們肉吃，且吃一整月。
And Moses said: 'The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and yet Thou hast said: I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month!
22 就是將牛羊都為他們殺了，為他們夠用麼﹖或將海裏的魚全給他們捉來，為他們足用麼﹖」
If flocks and herds be slain for them, will they suffice them? or if all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, will they suffice them?'
23 上主回答梅瑟說：「難道上主的手短了﹖你就要看見我對你說的話是否應驗。」
And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Is the LORD'S hand waxed short? now shalt thou see whether My word shall come to pass unto thee or not.'
24 梅瑟將上主的話告訴了人民；隨後從人民的老年人中召選了七十人，令他們站在會幕四周。
And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the Tent.
25 上主乘雲降下，與梅瑟談話；將他身上的神能，賦給那七十位長老；這神能一降在他們身上，他們就出神說話；以後再沒有出神。
And the LORD came down in the cloud, and spoke unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and put it upon the seventy elders; and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.
26 當時有兩個人留在營內，一個名叫厄耳達得，一個名叫默達得；這神能也降在他們身上；他們原是在被錄取的人內，卻沒有到會幕那裏去，就在營內出神說話。
But there remained two men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad; and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were recorded, but had not gone out unto the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.
27 有一少年跑來告訴梅瑟說：「厄耳達得和默達得在營內出神說話。」
And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said: 'Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.'
28 自幼即服事梅瑟的農的兒子若蘇厄遂說：「我主梅瑟! 你該禁止他們。」
And Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses from his youth up, answered and said: 'My lord Moses, shut them in.'
29 梅瑟回答他說：「你為我的緣故嫉妒人麼﹖巴不得上主的人民都成先知，上主將自己的精神貫注在他們身上! 」
And Moses said unto him: 'Art thou jealous for my sake? would that all the LORD'S people were prophets, that the LORD would put His spirit upon them!'
30 梅瑟遂與以色列的長老回到了營內。
And Moses withdrew into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
31 那時上主使一陣風颳起，由海上吹來了鵪鶉，散落在營幕上；鵪鶉在營幕四周多得有一天路程那麼遠，在地面上約有兩肘厚。
And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought across quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day's journey on this side, and a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and about two cubits above the face of the earth.
32 人民那一整日整夜，且在第二日整天都忙於捕捉鵪鶉，收集得最少的，也收集了十堆，都擺在營幕四周。
And the people rose up all that day, and all the night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails; he that gathered least gathered ten heaps; and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
33 肉還在他們的牙齒間，尚未嚼爛，上主就對人民發怒了，以極嚴重的災禍打擊了人民。
While the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the anger of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.
34 故此人給那地方起名叫克貝洛特阿塔瓦，因為在那裏埋葬了貪饕的人民。
And the name of that place was called Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the people that lusted.
35 以後民眾由克貝洛特阿塔瓦起程，向哈茲洛特出發，在哈茲洛特住下了。
From Kibroth-hattaavah the people journeyed unto Hazeroth; and they abode at Hazeroth.
