馬太福音 3
1 那時，洗者若翰出現在猶太曠野宣講說：
And in those days John the Immerser came, proclaiming in the wilderness of Judea
2 「你們悔改吧！因為天國臨近了。」
and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
3 這人便是那藉先知依撒依亞所預言的：「在曠野有呼號者的聲音：你們該當預備上主的道路，修直衪的途徑。」
For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, "The voice of one who calls out in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord. Make his roads straight.'"
4 這若翰穿著駱駝毛做的衣服，腰間束著皮帶，他的食物是蝗蟲和野蜜。
Now John himself wore clothing made of camel's hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.
5 那時，耶路撒冷、全猶太以及全約但河一帶的人；都出來到衪那裏去，
Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him,
6 承認自己的罪過，並在約但河裏受衪的洗。
and they were immersed by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins.
7 衪見到許多法利賽人和賽杜色人來受他的洗，就對他們說：「毒蛇的種類！誰指教你們逃避那即將來臨的忿怒﹖
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his immersion he said to them, "You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 那麼，就結出與悔改相稱的果實吧！
Therefore bring forth fruit worthy of repentance,
9 你們自己不要思念說：我們亞巴郎為父。我給你們說：天主能從這些石頭給亞巴郎興起子孫來。
and do not think to yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father,' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.
10 斧子已放在樹根上了，凡不結好果子的樹，必被砍倒，投入火中。
"Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.
11 我固然用水洗你們，為使你們悔改；但在我以後要來的那一位，比我更強，我連提衪的鞋也不配，衪要以聖神及火洗你們。
I indeed immerse you in water for repentance, but the one who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will immerse you in the Ruach ha-Kodesh and with fire.
12 衪的簸箕已在衪手中，衪要揚敬盡自己的禾場，將衪的麥粒收入倉內，至於糠秕，卻要用不滅的火焚燒。
His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."
13 那時，耶穌由加里肋亞來到約但河若翰那裏，為受衪的洗；
Then Yeshua came from Galil to the Jordan to John, to be immersed by him.
14 但若翰想要阻止衪說：「我本來需要受你的洗，而你卻來就我嗎﹖
But John would have hindered him, saying, "I need to be immersed by you, and you come to me?"
15 耶穌回答衪說：「你暫且容許吧！因為我們應當這樣，以完成全義。」於是若翰就容許了衪。
But Yeshua, answering, said to him, "Allow it to happen now, for this is the proper way for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed him.
16 耶穌受洗後，立時從水裏上來，忽然天為他開了。他看見天主聖神有如鴿子降下，來到他上面；
And Yeshua, when he was immersed, went up directly from the water; and look, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Ruach of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.
17 又有聲音由天上說：「這是我的愛子，我所喜悅的」
And look, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
