馬太福音 14
1 時，分封侯黑落德聽到耶穌的名聲，
At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the fame of Jesus,
2 就對的臣僕說：「這是洗者若翰，他由死者中復活了，為此，這些奇能纔在他身上運行。」
and said to his servants, This is John the baptist, he is certainly risen from the dead, and therefore miraculous things are done by him:
3 原來，黑落德為了他兄弟裴理伯的妻子黑落狄亞的原故，逮捕了若翰，把他囚在監裏，
for Herod had apprehended John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife;
4 因為若翰曾給他說：「你不可佔有這個女人！」
for John said to Him, It is not lawful for thee to have her: and he would have put him to death,
5 黑落德本有意殺他，但害怕群眾，因為他們都以若翰為先知。
but that he was afraid of the people; for they esteemed him as a prophet.
6 到了黑落德的生日，黑落狄亞的女兒，在席間跳舞，中悅了黑落德；
But when Herod's birth-day was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod, so
7 為此，黑落德發誓許下，她無論求什麼，都要給她。
that he promised her with an oath to give her whatever she would ask:
8 她受了她母親的唆使後，就說：「請就地把若翰的頭放在盤子裏給我！」
and she, being before instructed by her mother, said, Give me here in a dish the head of John the baptist:
9 王十分憂鬱，但為了誓言和同席的人，就下令給她。
at which the king was distressed, but because of his oath, and of those who sat at table with him, he ordered it to be given her;
10 遂差人在間裏斬了若翰的頭，
and he sent and beheaded John in the prison,
11 把頭放在盤子裏拿來，給了女孩；女孩便拿去給了她母親。
and his head was brought in a dish, and given to the young princess, who carried it to her mother:
12 若翰的們徒前來，領了屍身，埋藏了，然後去報告給耶穌。
and his disciples came and took up the body and buried it, and then went and told Jesus.
13 耶穌一聽這個消息，就從那裏上船，私下退到荒野地方；群眾聽說了，就從個城裏步行跟了他去。
And when Jesus heard it, He departed from thence in a ship to a solitary place of retirement: but the people hearing where He was followed Him on foot from the cities:
14 他一下船，看見一大夥群眾，便對他們動了憐憫的心，治好了他們的病人。
and when Jesus came out of the ship, He saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them; and He healed their sick.
15 到了傍晚，們徒到他跟前說：「這地方是荒野，時候已不早了請你遣散群眾罷！叫他們個各自到村莊去買食物。」
Now when it was evening his disciples came to Him and said, This is a desert place, and meal-time is now past; dismiss the people, that they may go away to the towns, and buy themselves victuals.
16 耶穌卻對他們說：「他們不必去，你們給他們吃的罷！」
But Jesus said to them, they have no need to go away, do ye give them something to eat.
17 門徒對他說：「我們這裏什麼也沒有，只有五個餅和兩條魚。」
And they said, we have nothing here but five loaves and two fishes:
18 耶穌說：「你們給我拿到這裏來！」
and He said, bring them hither to me.
19 遂又吩咐群眾坐在草地上，然後拿起那五個餅和兩條魚，望天祝福了；把餅剝開，遞給們徒，們徒再分給群眾。
And having ordered the multitudes to sit down upon the grass, and taken the five loaves and the two fishes, He looked up to heaven and blessed them; and He brake the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the people: and they did all eat, and were satisfied;
20 眾人吃了，也都飽了；然後他們把剩餘的碎塊收了滿滿十二筐。
and they took up what was left even of fragments twelve baskets full.
21 吃的人數，除了婦女和小孩外，約有五千。
Now they that had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
22 耶穌即刻催迫們徒上船，在他以先到對岸去；這其間，他遣散了群眾。
And presently after Jesus obliged the disciples to get into the ship, and to go before Him to the other side, while He dismissed the multitudes:
23 耶穌遣散了群眾以後，便私自上山祈禱去了。到了夜晚，他獨自一個人在那裏。
and when He had dismissed them, He went up to a hill in private to pray.
24 船已離岸幾里了，受著波浪的顛簸，因為吹的是逆風。
And in the evening He was there alone. Now the ship was by this time in the midst of the sea, and violently tossed by the waves; for the wind was contrary:
25 夜間四更時分，耶穌步行海上，朝著他們走來。
but in the fourth watch of the night Jesus came to them walking on the sea:
26 門徒看見他在海上行走，就驚駭說：「是個妖怪。」並且嚇得大叫起來。
and when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were affrighted and said, It is an apparition;
27 耶穌立即向他們說道：「放心！是我。不必害怕！」
and they cried out for fear: but Jesus immediately spake to them, saying, Take courage, it is I, be not afraid.
28 伯多祿回答說：「主！如果是你，就叫我在水面上部行到你那裏去罷！」
Then Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it be thou, command me to come unto thee upon the waters.
29 耶穌說：「來罷！」伯多祿遂從船上下來，走在水面上，往耶穌那裏去。
And He said, Come.
30 但他一見風勢很強，就害怕起來，並開始往下沉，遂大叫說：「主，救我罷！」
And Peter went down from the ship and walked upon the waters to go to Jesus: but seeing the wind boisterous, he was afraid, and beginning to sink cried out, Lord, save me.
31 耶穌立刻伸手拉助他，對他說：「小信德的人哪！你為甚麼懷疑？」
And Jesus, immediately stretching forth his hand, laid hold of him, and saith to him, O man of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
32 他們上了船，風就停了。
So they got into the ship, and the wind ceased.
33 船上的人便朝拜他說：「你真是天主子。」
Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped Him, saying, Thou art indeed the Son of God.
34 他們渡到對岸，來到革乃撒勒地方。
And they passed over and came into the country of Gennesaret.
35 那的方的人一認出是耶穌，就打發人到周圍整個地方，把一切患病的人，都帶到耶穌跟前，
And the men of that place getting knowledge of Him, sent into all that country about; and they brought to Him all that were ill;
36 求耶穌讓他們只摸摸他的衣邊；凡摸著的，就痊愈了。
and intreated Him that they might but touch the border of his garment; and as many as touched Him were made perfectly well.
