約書亞記 1
1 上主的僕人梅瑟死了以後，上主對農的兒子，梅瑟的待從若蘇厄說：
Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, it came to pass, that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses's minister, saying,
2 「我的的僕人梅瑟死了，你現在起來，和全體百姓萵約旦河，往我賜給他們，即以色列子民的地方去。
Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, to the land which I do give to them, [even] to the children of Israel.
3 凡你們的腳踏過的地方，照我對梅瑟說的，我必賜給你們；
Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given to you, as I said to Moses.
4 從曠野直到黎巴嫩，由大河，即幼發拉的河，赫特人的全境，直到大海日落之地，都是你們的領土。
From the wilderness and this Lebanon even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea towards the setting of the sun, shall be your border.
5 你有生之日，沒有人能抵抗你；過去我怎樣和梅瑟同在，也要怎樣和你同在，決不捨棄你。
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, [so] I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
6 你應勇敢果斷，因為你必須使這百姓，佔領我曾向他們祖先起誓賜給他們作產業的地方。
Be strong and of a good courage: for to this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
7 你只須勇敢，堅決果斷，不偏左右，謹守奉行我僕人梅瑟所吩咐你們的一切訓示，好使你無往不利。
Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it [to] the right hand or [to] the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 這部法律書總不要離開你的口，你要日夜默想，好叫你能謹守奉行其中所記載的一切；這樣，你必能順利，必能成功。
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate in it day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all [that is] written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 我不是吩咐了你，你應勇敢果斷嗎﹖所以你不要害怕，也不要膽怯，因為你無論到那裏，上主你的的天主必與你同在。」
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest.
10 以後若蘇厄向百姓的官長下令說：
Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
11 「應走遍全營，吩咐百姓說：你們應準備食物，因為還有三天，就要過這約旦河，去佔領上主你的的天主賜與你的作產業的土地。
Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you provisions; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
12 若蘇厄又對勒烏本人、加得人和默納協半支派的人說：
And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spoke Joshua, saying,
13 「你們應記起上主的僕人梅瑟吩咐你的的事。他說過：上主你的的天主將這地賜給你們，使你們獲得安居，
Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.
14 你們的婦孺和牲畜，可留在梅瑟在約旦河東賜你的的地方；但你們中所有的英勇戰士，都應武裝起來，在你們弟兄前過河，協助他們，
Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side of Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valor, and help them;
15 到直上主使你們的弟兄，像你們一樣，佔領了上主你們的天主，賜給他們作為產業的地方，即上主的僕人梅瑟在約旦河東，日出之地，賜予你們的地方。
Until the LORD shall have given your brethren rest, as [he hath given] you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return to the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD'S servant gave you on this side of Jordan towards the sun-rising.
16 他們回答若蘇厄說：「凡你命令我們的，我們必都照辦；凡你派我們去的地方，我們一定去。
And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us, we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.
17 我們在一切事上怎樣服從了梅瑟，也怎樣服從你；惟願上主你的的天主與你同在，如同與梅瑟同在一樣。
According as we hearkened to Moses in all things, so will we hearken to thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
18 無論誰違背你的命令，不服從你吩咐他的一切訓示，必處死刑。但你應該勇敢果斷。」
Every one that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken to thy words in all that thou commandest him, shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
