約翰福音 1
1 在起初已有聖言，聖言與天主同在，聖言就是天主。
In the beginning, was the Word; and the Word was with God; and the Word was God.
2 聖言在起初就與天主同在。
He was in the beginning with God.
3 萬有是藉著衪而造成的；凡受造的，沒有一樣不是由衪而造成的。
Every thing was by his hand; and without him, was not any thing whatever that existed.
4 在衪內有有生命，這生命是中的光。
In him was life; and the life was the light of man.
5 光在黑暗中照耀，黑暗決不能勝過衪。
And this light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness apprehended it not.
6 曾有一人，是由天主派遺來的，名叫若翰。
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 這人來是為作證，為給光作證，為使眾人藉他而信。
He came for testimony, to bear witness concerning the light.
8 他不是那光，袛是為給那光作證。
He was not himself the light, but came to bear witness concerning the light.
9 那普照每人的真光，正在進入這世界；
The true light was that, which enlighteneth every man who cometh into the world.
10 衪已在世界上；世界原是藉衪造成的；但世界卻不認識衪。
He was in the world; and the world was by his hand; and the world did not know him.
11 衪來到了自己的領域，自己的人卻沒有接受衪。
He came to his own people; and his own people received him not.
12 但是凡接受衪的，衪給他們，即給那些信衪名字的人權能，好成為天主的子女。
But such as received him, to them gave he the prerogative to be children of God; even to them that believe on his name;
13 他們不是由血氣，也不是由肉慾，也不是由另男慾，而是由天主生的。
who are born, not of blood, nor of the pleasure of the flesh, nor of the pleasure of man, but of God.
14 於是聖言成了血肉，寄居在們中間；我們見了衪的光榮，正如父獨生者的光榮，滿溢恩寵和真理。
And the: Word became flesh, and tabernacled with us: and we saw his glory, a glory as of the only begotten from the Father, that he was full of grace and truth.
15 若翰為衪作證呼喊說：「這就是我所說的：那在我以後來的，成了在我以前的，因衪原先我而有。」
John testified of him, and cried, and said: This is he, of whom I said, That he cometh after me, and is before me; for he was prior to me.
16 從衪的滿溢中，我們都領受了恩寵，而且恩寵上加恩寵。
And of his plenitude have we all received, and grace for grace.
17 因為法律是藉梅瑟傳授的，恩寵和真理卻是由耶穌基督而來的。
For the law was given by the hand of Moses; but the reality and grace was by the hand of Jesus Messiah.
18 從來沒有人見過天主，只有那在父懷裏的獨生者，身為天主的，衪給我們詳述了。
No man hath ever seen God; the only begotten God, he who is in the bosom of his Father, he hath declared him.
19 這是若翰所作的見證：當時，猶太人從耶路撒冷派遺了司祭和肋未人，到他那裏問他說：「你是誰？」
And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews of Jerusalem sent to him priests and Levites, to ask him, Who art thou?
20 他明明承認，並沒有否認；他明認說：「我不是默西亞。」
And he confessed, and denied not, but confessed I am not the Messiah.
21 他們又問他說：「那麼你是誰？你是厄里亞嗎？」他回答說：「不是。」
And they asked him again: Who then? Art thou Elijah? And he said: I am not. Art thou a prophet? And he said, No.
22 於是他們問他說：「你究竟是誰？好叫們給派遺們來的人一個答覆。關於你自己，你說什麼呢？」
And they said to him: Who art thou? that we may give answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
23 他說：「我是在荒野裏呼喊者的聲音：修直上主的道路吧! 正如依撒意亞先知所說的。」
He said: I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make smooth the way of the Lord; as said the prophet Isaiah.
24 被派遺來的有些是法利賽人，
And they who were sent, were of the Pharisees.
25 他們又問他說：「你既不是默西亞，又不是厄里亞，也不是那位先知，那麼你為什麼施洗呢？」
And they asked him, and said to him: Why then baptizest thou, if thou art not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor a prophet?
26 若翰答覆他們說：「我以水施洗，你們中間站著一位，是你們所不認識的；
John answered, and said to them; I baptize with water; but among you standeth one, whom ye do not know.
27 衪在我以後來，我卻當不起解衪的鞋帶。」
He it is that cometh after me, and was before me, whose shoe-strings I am not worthy to untie.
28 這些事發生於約旦河對岸的伯達尼，若翰施洗的地方。
These things occurred in Bethany, where John was baptizing.
29 第二天，若翰見耶穌向他走來，便說：「看，天主的羔羊，除免世罪者!
The day after, John saw Jesus coming towards him, and said: Behold, the Lamb of God, that beareth the sin of the world.
30 這位就是我論衪曾說過：有一個人在我以後來，成了在我以前的，因衪原先我而有。
This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man, who is before me, for he was prior to me.
31 連我也不曾認識衪，但為使衪顯示於以色列，為此我來以水施洗。」
And I knew him not; but that he might be known to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
32 若翰又作證說：「我看見聖神彷彿鴿子從天降下，停在衪身上。
And John testified, and said: I saw the Spirit descend from heaven, as a dove, and rest upon him.
33 我也不曾認識衪，但那派遺我來以水施洗的，給我說：你看見聖神降下，停在誰身上，誰就是那要以聖神施洗的人。
And I did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water, he said to me- On whom thou seest the Spirit descend, and rest upon him, he baptizeth with the Holy Spirit.
34 我看見了，我便作證：衪就是天主子。」
And I saw; and I testify, that this is the Son of God.
35 第二天，若翰和他的兩個門徒，又在那裏站著，
And the next day, John was standing, and two of his disciples.
36 若翰看見耶穌走過，便注視著衪說：「看，天主的羔羊! 」
And he looked upon Jesus as he walked, and said: Behold, the Lamb of God!
37 那兩個門徒聽見他說這話，便跟隨了耶穌。
And his two disciples heard him when he said it, and they went after Jesus.
38 耶穌轉過身來，看見他們跟著，便問他們說：「辣彼! ─意即師傅─你住在那裏？」
And Jesus turned, and saw them coming after him, and he said to them: What seek ye? They said to him: Our Rabbi, where stayest thou?
39 衪向他們說：「你們來看看吧! 」他們於是去了，看了衪住的地方；並且那一天就在衪那裡住下了。那時，大約是第十時辰。
He said to them: Come, and see. And they came and saw where he lodged; and they were with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.
40 西滿伯多祿的哥哥安德肋，就是聽了若翰的話，而跟隨了耶穌的那兩人中的一個，
And one of those who heard John and went after Jesus was Andrew, the brother of Simon.
41 先去找了自己的弟弟西滿，並向他說：「我們找到了默西亞。」─意即基督。
He first saw Simon his brother, and said to him: We have found the Messiah.
42 遂領他到耶穌跟，耶穌注視他說：「你是若望的兒子西滿，你要叫『刻法』─意即伯多祿。
And he brought him to Jesus. And Jesus looked upon him, and said Thou art Simon the son of Jona; thou shalt be called Cephas.
43 第二天，耶穌願意往加利肋亞去，遇到了斐理伯，耶穌便向他說：「你跟隨我吧! 」
The next day, Jesus was disposed to depart for Galilee: and he found Philip and said to him, Come after me.
44 斐理伯是貝特賽達人，與安德肋和伯多祿同城。
And Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Simon.
45 斐理伯遇到納塔乃耳，就向他說：「梅瑟在法律上所記載，和先知們所預報的，我們找著了，就是若瑟的兒子，出身於納匝肋的耶穌。」
And Philip found Nathaniel, and said to him: We have found him, of whom Moses wrote in the law, and the prophets, Jesus the son of Joseph, who is of Nazareth.
46 納塔乃耳便向他說：「從納匝肋還能出什麼好事嗎？」斐理伯向說：「你來看一看吧! 」
Nathaniel said to him: Can there be any good thing from Nazareth? Philip said to him: Come, and see.
47 耶穌看見納塔乃耳向自己走來，就指著說：「看! 這確是一個以色列人，在他內毫無詭詐。」
And Jesus saw Nathaniel coming towards him, and said of him: Behold a real Israelite, in whom is no deceit.
48 納塔乃耳給衪說：「你從那裏認識我呢？」耶穌回答說：「斐理伯叫你以前，當你還在無花果樹下時，我就看見了你。」
Nathaniel said to him: Whence knowest thou me? Jesus said to him: Before Philip called thee when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
49 納塔乃耳回答說：「辣彼，你是天主子，你是以色列的君王。」
Nathaniel answered, and said to him: Rabbi; thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
50 耶穌遂說道：「因為我向你說：我看見了你在無花果樹下，你就信了嗎？你要看見比這更大的事! 」
Jesus said to him: Because I said to thee, that I saw thee under the fig-tree, believest thou? Thou wilt see greater things than these.
51 又向他說：「我實在告訴你們：你們要看見天開，天主的天使在人子身上，上去下來。」
He said to him: Verily, verily, I say to you, That hereafter ye will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending unto the Son of man.
