約翰福音 8
1 耶穌上了橄欖山。
But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2 清晨他又來到聖殿，眾百姓都到他跟前來，他便坐下教訓他們。
Early in the morning he again went to the temple courts. All the people came, and he sat down and taught them.
3 那時，經師和法利賽人帶來了一個犯姦淫時被捉住的婦人，叫她站在中間，
Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought him a woman who had been caught in adultery. Making her stand before them all,
4 便向耶穌說：「師傅! 這婦人是正在犯姦淫時被捉住的，
they said to Jesus, testing him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery.
5 在法律上，梅瑟命令我們該用石頭砸死這樣的婦人；可是，你說什麼呢？」
In the law, Moses commanded us that such women should be stoned; what then do yoʋ say?”
6 他們說這話，是要試探耶穌，好能控告他；耶穌卻彎下身去，用指頭在地上畫字。
(They said this to test him, so that they might have something to accuse him of.) But Jesus stooped down and wrote with his finger on the ground, taking no notice.
7 因為他們不斷地追問，他便直起身來，向他們說：「你們中間誰沒有罪，先向她投石罷! 」
When they continued asking him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him among you who is without sin throw the first stone at her.”
8 他又彎下身去，在地上寫字。
And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 他們一聽這話，就從年老的開始到年幼的，一個一個地都溜走了，只留下耶穌一人和站在那裡的婦人。
When they heard this, they were convicted by their own consciences and began to go away one by one, starting with the older men. So Jesus was left alone, with the woman there before him.
10 耶穌遂直起身來向說: 「婦人！他們在那裏呢？沒有人定你的罪嗎？」
Then Jesus stood up and saw no one but the woman. So he said to her, “Where are yoʋr accusers? Has no one condemned yoʋ?”
11 她說: 「主！沒有人。」耶穌向她說: 「我也不定你的罪；去罷! 從今以後，不要再犯罪了! 」
She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said, “Neither do I pass judgment on yoʋ; go and sin no more.”
12 耶穌又向眾人講說: 「我是世界的光；跟隨我的，決不在黑暗中行走，必有生命的光。」
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will certainly not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
13 法利賽於是對對他說: 「你為你自己作證，你的證據是不可憑信的。」
So the Pharisees said to him, “Yoʋ are testifying about yoʋrself, so yoʋr testimony is not valid.”
14 耶穌回答說：「我即便為我自己作證，我的證據是可憑信的，因為我知道：我從那裏來，往那裏去；你們卻不知道: 我從那裏來，或往那裏去。
Jesus answered them, “Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.
15 你們只憑肉眼判斷，我卻不判斷任何人；
You judge according to the flesh, but I judge no one.
16 即使我判斷，我的判斷仍是真實的，因為我不是獨自一個，而是有我，還有派遣我來的父。
Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is valid; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.
17 在你們的法律上也記載著: 兩個人的作證是可憑信的。
In your own law it is written that the testimony of two men is valid.
18 今有我為我自己作證，也有派遣我的父，為我作證。」
I testify about myself, and the Father who sent me also testifies about me.”
19 他們使問他說: 「你的父在那裏？」耶穌答覆說：「你們不認識我，也不認識我的父；若是你們認識了我，也就認識我的父了。」
Then they said to him, “Where is yoʋr father?” Jesus answered, “You neither know me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father as well.”
20 這些話是耶穌於聖殿施教時，在銀庫院裏所講的。誰也沒有捉拿，因為的時辰還沒有到。
(Jesus spoke these words in the treasury as he taught in the temple courts. But no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.)
21 那時，耶穌又向他們說：「我去了，你們要尋找我，你們必要死在你們的罪惡中；我所去的地方，你們不能去。」
Then Jesus said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, but you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”
22 猶太人便說: 「他說: 我所去的地方，你你們不能去；莫非他要自殺嗎？」
So the Jews said, “Is he going to kill himself? Is that what he means by saying, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come’?”
23 耶穌向他們說: 「你們是出於下，我卻是出於上；你們是出於這個世界，我卻不是出於這個世界。
He said to them, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 因此，我對你們說過: 你但要死在你們的罪惡中。的確，你們若不相信我就是那一位，你們必要死在你們的罪惡中。」
Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins, for if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.”
25 於是，他們問耶穌說: 「你到底是誰？」耶穌回答他們說: 「難道從起初我沒有對你們講論過嗎？
They said to him, “Who are yoʋ?” Jesus said to them, “Exactly what I have been saying to you from the beginning.
26 對你們我有許多事要說，要譴責；但是派遣我來者是真實的；我由他聽來的，我就講給世界聽。」
I have many things to say about you and to judge, but he who sent me is true, and I tell the world what I have heard from him.”
27 們不明白他是在給他們講論父。
(They did not know that he was speaking to them about the Father.)
28 耶穌遂說: 「當你們高舉了人子以後，你們便知道我就是那一位。我由我自己不作什麼；我所講論的，都是依照父所教訓我的。
So Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own authority, but I speak these things just as my Father taught me.
29 派遣我來者與我在一起，他沒有留下我獨自一個，因為我常作他所喜悅的事。」
He who sent me is with me. The Father has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.”
30 當耶穌講這些話時，許多人便信了他。
As he was saying these things, many believed in him.
31 於是，耶穌對那些信他的猶太人說: 「你們如果固守我的話，就確是我的門徒，
Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.
32 也會認識真理，而真理必會使你們獲得自由。」
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
33 他們回答說: 「我們是亞巴郎的後裔，從未給人做過奴隸；怎麼你說：你們要成為自由的呢？」
They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham, and we have never been enslaved to anyone. How then can yoʋ say, ‘You will be set free’?”
34 耶穌答覆說: 「我實實在在告訴你們: 凡是犯罪的，就是罪惡的奴隸。
Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.
The slave does not abide in the house forever; the son abides forever. (aiōn g165)
36 那麼，如果天主子使你們自由了，你們的確是自由的。
So if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
37 我知道你們是亞巴郎後裔，你們圖謀殺害我，因為你們容納不下我的話。
I know that you are Abraham's descendants, but you are seeking to kill me because your hearts have no room for my word.
38 我說的，是我在父那裏所看見的；而你們行的，卻是你們從你們的父那裏所學習的。」
I speak of what I have seen with my Father; so you also are doing what you have seen with your father.”
39 他們回答說: 「我們的父是亞巴郎。」耶穌對他們說: 「假如你們是亞巴郎的子女，你們就該作啞巴郎的事。
They answered him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them, “If you were children of Abraham, you would be doing the works of Abraham.
40 如今，你們竟圖謀殺害我──這個給你們說出從天主那裏所聽到的真理的人──亞巴郎卻沒有做過言這樣的事。
But now you are seeking to kill me, a man who has spoken to you the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do such a thing.
41 你們正做你們父親的事業。」他們向他說：「我們不是由淫亂生的，我們只有一個父親: 就是天主。」
You are doing the works of your father.” They said to him, “We were not born of fornication. We have one Father—God.”
42 耶穌回答說：「假如天主是你們的父親，你們必愛我，因為我是由天主出發而來的，並不是由我自己來的，而是那一位派遣了我。
Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come of my own accord, but he sent me.
43 為什麼你們不明白我的講論呢？無非是你們不肯聽我的話。
Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot bear to accept my word.
44 你們是出於你們的父親魔鬼並願意追隨你們父親的慾望。從起初，他就是殺人的兇手，不站在真理上，因為在他內沒有真理；他幾時撒謊，正出於他的本性，因為他是撒謊者，而且又是撒謊者的父親。
You belong to your father the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks lies, he speaks from his own character, because he is a liar and the father of lies.
45 至於我，因為我說真理，你們卻不信我。
But because I speak the truth, you do not believe me.
46 你們中誰能指證我有罪？若是我說真理，為什麼你們卻不信我呢？
Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I am telling the truth, why do you not believe me?
47 出於天主的，必聽天主的話；你們所以不聽，因為你們不是出於天主。」
Whoever belongs to God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear them is because you do not belong to God.”
48 猶太人遂向他說: 「我們說你是個撒瑪黎雅人，並附有魔鬼，豈不正對嗎？」
The Jews answered him, “Do we not rightly say that yoʋ are a Samaritan and have a demon?”
49 耶穌答覆說： 「我沒有附魔，我只是尊敬我的父，你們卻侮辱我。
Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.
50 然而，我不尋求我的光榮，有為我尋求而行判斷的一位。
I do not seek my own glory; there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge.
Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will certainly never see death.” (aiōn g165)
The Jews said to him, “Now we know that yoʋ have a demon. Abraham died, and so did the prophets, yet yoʋ say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will certainly never taste death.’ (aiōn g165)
53 難道你比我們的父親亞巴郎還大嗎？他死了，先知們也死了。你把你自己當作什麼人呢？」
Are yoʋ greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets also died. Who do yoʋ make yoʋrself out to be?”
54 耶穌答覆說: 「我如果光榮我自己，我的光榮算不了什麼；那光榮是我的，是我的父，就是你們所稱的「我們的天主」。
Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’
55 你們不認識他，我卻認識他；我若說我不認識他，我便像你們一樣是個撒謊者；但是，我認識他，也遵守他的話。
You do not know him, but I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him, and I keep his word.
56 你們的父親亞巴郎曾歡欣喜樂地企望看到我的日子，他看見了極其高興。」
Your father Abraham was glad that he would see my day. He saw it and rejoiced.”
57 猶太就對他說: 「你還沒有五十歲，就見過亞巴郎嗎？」
Then the Jews said to him, “Yoʋ are not yet fifty years old, and yoʋ have seen Abraham?”
58 耶穌回答說: 「我實實在在告訴你們: 在亞巴郎出現以前我就有。」
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”
59 他們就拿起石頭來要向他投去；耶穌卻隱沒了，從聖殿裏出去了。
So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out from the temple grounds. And passing through the crowd, he walked away.
