約翰福音 4
1 耶穌一知道法利賽人聽說衪已收徒，施洗比若翰還多─
When therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and immersing more disciples than John
2 其實耶穌本人並沒有施洗，而是衪的門徒─
(although Jesus himself did not immerse, but his disciples),
3 便離開猶太，又往加利肋亞去了。
he left Judea, and departed into Galilee.
4 衪必須途經撒馬黎雅。
And it was necessary for him to pass through Samaria.
5 於是到了撒馬黎雅的一座城，名叫息哈爾靠近雅各伯給他的兒子若瑟的莊田，
So he comes to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the place that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 在那裡有「雅各伯泉。」耶穌因行路疲倦，就順便坐在泉傍；那時大約是第六時辰。
And Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore being wearied from the journey, thus was sitting on the well. It was about the sixth hour.
7 有一個撒馬利亞婦女來汲水，耶穌向她說：「請給我點水喝! 」
A woman of Samaria comes to draw water. Jesus says to her, Give me to drink.
8 那時，衪的門徒已往城裏買食物去了。
For his disciples had gone away into the city so that they might buy food.
9 那撒馬黎雅婦女就回答說：「你既是個猶太人，怎麼向我一個撒馬黎雅婦女要水喝呢？」原來，猶太人和撒馬黎雅人不相往來。
The Samaritan woman therefore says to him, How do thou, being Jewish, ask to drink from me, being a Samaritan woman, for Jews do not associate with Samaritans?
10 耶穌回答她說：「若是妳知道天主的恩賜，並知道向妳說：給我水喝的人是誰，妳或許早求了他，而他也早賜給了妳活水。」
Jesus answered and said to her, If thou had known the gift of God, and who it is who says to thee, Give me to drink, thou would have asked him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 那婦女問說；「先生，你連汲水器也沒有，而井又深，你從那裏得那活水呢？」
The woman says to him, Sir, thou have not even a container, and the well is deep. From where then have thou the living water?
12 難道你比我們的祖先還大嗎？他留給了我們這口井，他和他的子孫以及他的牲畜，都曾喝過這井裏的水。」
Are thou greater than our father Jacob who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, and his sons, and his livestock?
13 耶穌回答說：「凡喝這水的，還要再渴；
Jesus answered and said to her, Every man who drinks of this water will thirst again,
15 婦人說：「先生，請給我這水吧！ 免得我再渴，也免得我再來這裏汲水。」
The woman says to him, Give me this water, sir, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw out.
16 耶穌向她說：「去，叫妳的丈夫，再回這裏來。」
Jesus says to her, Go, call thy husband, and come here.
17 那婦人回答說：「我沒有丈夫。」耶穌說：「妳說：我沒有丈夫，正對!
The woman answered and said to him, I have no husband. Jesus says to her, Thou said correctly, I have no husband.
18 因為妳曾有過五個丈夫，而妳現在所有的，也不是妳的丈夫：妳說的這話真對。」
For thou have had five husbands, and he whom thou now have is not thy husband. This thou have said true.
19 婦人向衪說：「先生，我看你是個先知。
The woman says to him, Sir, I perceive that thou are a prophet.
20 我們的祖先一向在這座山上朝拜天主，你們卻說：應該朝拜天主的地方是在耶路撒冷。」
Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where it is necessary to worship.
21 耶穌回答說：「女人，妳相信我罷! 到了時候，你們將不在這座山，也不在耶路撒冷朝拜。
Jesus says to her, Woman, believe me, that the hour is coming when neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem will ye worship the Father.
22 你們朝拜你們所不認識的，我們朝拜我們所認識的，因為救恩是出自猶太人。
Ye worship what ye do not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews.
23 然而時候要到，且現在就是，那些真正朝拜的人，將以心神以真理拜父，因為父就是尋找這漾理拜衪人。
But an hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for also the Father seeks such kind who worship him.
24 天主是神，理拜衪的人應該以人神以真理去理拜衪。」
God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
25 婦人說：「我認識默西亞─意即基督─要來，衪一來了，必會告訴我們一切。」
The woman says to him, I know that Messiah comes, he who is called Christ. When that man comes he will declare all things to us.
26 耶穌向她說：「同妳談話的我就是。」
Jesus says to her, I who speak to thee am the man.
27 正在這時，他的門徒回來了，他們就驚奇地同一個婦人談話；但是沒有人問: 「你要什麼？」或: 「你同她談論什麼？」
And upon this his disciples came. And they marveled that he spoke with the woman, yet no man said, What seek thou? or, Why do thou speak with her?
28 於是那婦人撇下自己的水罐，往城裏去向人說: 「
The woman therefore left her water pot, and departed into the city, and says to the men,
29 你們來看! 有一個人說出了我所作過的一切事: 莫非他就是默西亞嗎？」
Come, see a man who told me all, as many things as I did. Is not this the Christ?
30 眾人從城裏出來，往他那裏去。
They went out of the city, and came to him.
31 其間門徒請求耶穌說: 「辣彼，吃罷！」
In the meanwhile the disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, eat.
32 他卻回答說: 「我己有食物吃，那是你們所不知道的。」
But he said to them, I have food to eat that ye know not.
33 門徒便彼此問說: 「難道有人給他送來了吃的嗎？」
The disciples therefore said to each other, Did any man bring him to eat?
34 耶穌向他們說: 「我的食物就是承行派遣我者的旨意，完成他的工程。
Jesus says to them, My food is that I do the will of him who sent me, and may finish his work.
35 你們不是說: 還有四個月才到收穫期嗎？看，我給你們說: 舉起你們的眼，細看田地，莊稼已經發白，可以收割了。
Do ye not say, There are still four months and the harvest comes? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and see the fields, that they are already white for harvest.
And he who reaps receives a wage and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
37 這正如俗語所說的: 撒種的一人，收割的是另一人。
For in this the saying is true, One is who sows, and another who reaps.
38 我派遣你們在你們沒有勞過力的地方去收割；別人勞了力，而你們去收獲他們勞苦的成果。」
I sent you to reap what ye have not labored. Others have labored, and ye have entered into their labor.
39 城裏有許多撒瑪黎雅人信從了耶穌，因為那婦人作證說: 「他向我說出我所做過的一切。」
And many of the Samaritans from that city believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all, as many things as I did.
40 這樣，那些撒瑪黎雅人來到耶穌前，請求他在他們那裏住下；耶穌就在那裏住了兩天。
So when the Samaritans came to him they asked him to remain with them, and he remained there two days.
41 還有更多的人因著他的講論，信從了他。
And many more believed because of his word.
42 他們向那婦人說: 「現在我們信，不是為了你的話，而是因為我們親自聽見了，並知道他確實是世界的救主。」
And they said to the woman, We no longer believe because of thy speaking, for we have heard ourselves, and know that this really is the Savior of the world, the Christ.
43 過了兩天，耶穌離開那裏，往加里肋亞去了。
And after the two days he departed from there and went into Galilee.
44 耶穌曾親自作證說: 「先知在自己的家鄉決受不到尊榮。」
For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own fatherland.
45 他一來到加里肋亞，加里肋亞人便接待了他，因為他們也曾上了耶路撒冷去過節，並親眼見了他在慶節中所行的一切。
So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast.
46 耶穌又來到加利肋亞加納，即他變水為酒的地方，那裏有一位王臣，他的兒子在葛法翁患病。
Jesus therefore came again to Cana of Galilee where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 這人一聽說耶穌從猶太到加利肋亞來了，就到他那裏去，懇求他下來醫治他的兒子，因為他快要死了。
This man having heard that Jesus comes out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him and besought him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was going to die.
48 耶穌對他說: 「除非你們看到神跡和奇事，你們總是不信。」
Jesus therefore said to him, Unless ye may see signs and wonders, ye will, no, not believe.
49 那王臣向他說: 「主，在我的小孩未死以前，請你下來罷！」
The nobleman says to him, Sir, come down before my child dies.
50 耶穌回答說: 「去罷! 你的兒子活了。」那人信了耶穌向他說的話，便走了。
Jesus says to him, Go, thy son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus said to him, and he departed.
51 他正下去的時候，僕人們迎上他來，說他的兒子活了。
And as he was now going down, his bondmen met him and reported, saying, Thy boy lives.
52 他問他們孩子病勢好轉的時刻，他們給他說: 「昨天第七時辰，熱就退了。」
So he inquired of them the hour in which he fared well. And they said to him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 親就知道正是耶穌向說: 「他你的兒子活了」的那個時辰；他和他的全家便都信了。
So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, Thy son lives. And he himself believed and his whole house.
54 這是耶穌從猶太回到加利肋亞後，所行的第二個神跡。
This again is a second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
