約伯記 20
1 納阿瑪人左法爾答覆說：
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
2 因我的思潮起伏，叫我答覆，為此我內心十分急躁。
Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for [this] I make haste.
3 斥責辱罵我的話，我已聽到，我的理智催迫我答覆。
I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.
4 你豈不知道，自古以來，自從世上有人以來，
Knowest thou [not] this of old, since man was placed upon earth,
5 惡人的歡欣決不久長，無神者的喜樂瞬息即逝﹖
That the triumphing of the wicked [is] short, and the joy of the hypocrite [but] for a moment?
6 他的驕傲雖高頂蒼天，他的頭雖插入青雲，
Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
7 但他必像幻像，永歸無有；見過他的人必說：「他那裏去了﹖」
[Yet] he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where [is] he?
8 他又像夢境消散，無蹟可尋；又像夜夢，消失無蹤。
He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
9 見過他的眼，再也見不到他；他的住所，再也不認識他。
The eye also [which] saw him shall [see him] no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
10 他的兒子要賠償窮人的損害，他要親手把財物交還。
His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
11 他的骨骸雖富有魄力，但要同他一起埋於塵埃。
His bones are full [of the sin] of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.
12 邪惡在他口中雖覺甘甜，藏在他的舌下，
Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, [though] he hide it under his tongue;
13 他雖愛惜不捨，久久含在口中；
[Though] he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:
14 但那食物在他腹中要起變化，在他五內要變成蛇的毒汁。
[Yet] his meat in his bowels is turned, [it is] the gall of asps within him.
15 他併吞的財富，必要吐出，天主必使之由他腹中嘔出。
He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
16 他原吸入了蛇的毒汁，毒蛇的舌頭必將他殺死。
He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper’s tongue shall slay him.
17 他不得觀賞油流如溪，也看不到那流蜜流奶的小河。
He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.
18 他勞力之所得，應該退還，不得吞下；賺來的財富，不得享用。
That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow [it] down: according to [his] substance [shall] the restitution [be], and he shall not rejoice [therein].
19 因為它壓搾了窮人，使他們無依；強佔了人家的房屋，不得再建。
Because he hath oppressed [and] hath forsaken the poor; [because] he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;
20 因為他口腹之慾總不知足，他所喜愛之物，也救不了他。
Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.
21 沒有什麼能逃脫他的吞噬，他的幸福決不久長。
There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.
22 他財產富足時，卻不免拮据，各種的困苦齊集他身。
In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.
23 當他肚腹飽滿時，天主的怒火突然降到，箭如雨點射在他身上。
[When] he is about to fill his belly, [God] shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain [it] upon him while he is eating.
24 他逃避過鐵器，銅矢必將他射穿。
He shall flee from the iron weapon, [and] the bow of steel shall strike him through.
25 一箭由他的脊背穿透，光亮的箭矢由他的膽囊穿出，死亡的恐怖已落在他身上。
It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors [are] upon him.
26 層層黑暗留作他的寶藏，非人燃起的火要焚燒他，吞盡留在他帳幕的人。
All darkness [shall be] hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
27 天要彰顯他的罪惡，地也起來攻擊他。
The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.
28 洪水沖走他的住宅，在天主義怒之日要全被沖去。
The increase of his house shall depart, [and his goods] shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
29 這是惡人由天主所應得的一份，是天主為他所注定的產業。
This [is] the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
