約伯記 17
1 我的氣息已斷，壽命已盡，而且墳墓已為我做好。
My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.
2 我豈不是成了笑罵的對象﹖我的眼睛豈不是在酸苦中過夜﹖
Are there not mockers with me? and doth not my eye continue in their provocation?
3 求你將我的抵押放在你那裏! 誰還敢與我擊掌作保﹖
Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?
4 因為你蒙蔽了他們的心，不叫他們明白，他們纔不敢舉起手來。
For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.
5 人請自己的朋友分享所有，但自己的子女卻餓的眼目昏花。
He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
6 我成了人民取笑的資料，人人在我臉上可吐唾沫。
He hath made me also a byword of the people; and as one before whom men spit.
7 我的眼睛因愁悶而昏花，我的肢體消失有如蔭影。
My eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.
8 正直人因此而驚異，無罪者憤起攻擊惡人。
Upright men shall be appalled at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.
9 義人堅持自己的道，手淨的人倍增勇氣。
The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
10 你們眾人，請你們再回來，但在你們中我找不到一個智者。
But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.
11 我的時日已過去，我志所謀，我心所愛，都已落空。
My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
12 他們將黑夜變為白天，使光明靠近黑暗；
They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.
If I wait, the grave is my house: I have made my bed in the darkness. (Sheol h7585)
14 我對墓穴說：你作我父! 對蛆蟲說：你作我母，我妹!
I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.
15 我的希望究在何處﹖我的幸福，有誰注意﹖
And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?
