約伯記 13
1 的確，這一切我親眼見過，我親耳聽過，是我熟悉的事。
LO, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it.
2 你們所知道的，我也知道，我並不亞於你們。
What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.
3 但是，我願同全能者交談，願與天主辯論，
Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
4 因為你們都是謊言的捏造者，全是無用的醫生。
But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.
5 恨不得你們閉口不言! 這樣纔算聰明。
O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.
6 請你們聽我的怨訴，留意我口中的辯論!
Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.
7 你們想以詭詐來為天主辯護，以謊言來為他說理﹖
Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?
8 難道你們想偏袒天主，有意為他辯護嗎﹖
Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?
9 他揭穿了你們，難道為你們有益﹖難道你們能欺騙他如人之欺騙人﹖
Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?
10 你們若假意偏袒，他必嚴厲斥責你們。
He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.
11 他的尊嚴能不使你們恐怖﹖他的威嚇能不落在你們身上﹖
Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?
12 你們的古諺都是些腐朽之談，你們的答辯都是些泥製的盾牌。
Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.
13 你們且住口，讓我來發言：不要管我有什麼遭遇。
Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.
14 我已將我的肉放在我的牙齒中，已將我的性命放在我手中；
Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?
15 即使他殺我，我仍希望在他面前表白我的行為。
Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
16 這樣對我還有救，因為惡人不敢到他面前。
He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.
17 你們要細聽我的話，側耳靜聽我的解釋。
Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.
18 我今呈上我的案件，確知我自己有理。
Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.
19 誰若與我爭辯，我就住口，情願死去。
Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.
20 惟有二事，你切莫向我作，我就不迴避你：
Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.
21 請將你的手由我身上撤回，莫讓你的威嚴恐嚇我。
Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.
22 那時你若召喚，我必回答；或者我說，你回答我。
Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.
23 我的邪惡罪過，究有多少﹖讓我認識我的過犯和罪過。
How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.
24 你為何遮掩你的面容，將我視作你的仇人﹖
Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?
25 難道你要喝走被風吹落的樹葉，要追逐已枯乾的碎湝﹖
Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?
26 你寫下了我受苦的判詞，使我承當我青年時的罪過。
For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.
27 你把我的腳縛在木樁上，窺察我的一切行動，又為我的腳步劃定界限。
Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.
28 我的生命已如腐爛的朽木，已如蛀蝕的衣服。
And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
