希伯來書 3
1 所以，有分於天上召選的諸聖弟兄啊。你們應細心想想，我們公認的欽使和大司祭耶穌，
Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
2 對那委派衪的是怎樣忠信，正如『梅瑟在衪的全家中』一樣。
Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
3 衪本來比梅瑟堪受更大地光榮，就如修建房屋的人，比那房屋理當更受尊榮。
For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath built the house hath more honour than the house.
4 不錯，每座房屋都由一個人修建，但那創造萬有的卻是天主。
For every house is built by some man; but he that built all things is God.
5 梅瑟在天主的全家中的確忠信，不過衪只是臣僕，為給那當要宣布的事作證；
And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later;
6 但基督卻是兒子，管理自己的家；衪的家就是我們，只要我們保存由望德所生的依恃和榮耀，『堅定不移，直到最後。』
But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.
7 為此，聖神有話說：『今天你們如果聽見衪的聲音，
Therefore ( as the Holy Spirit saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 不要再心硬了，像在叛亂之時，像在曠野中試探的那一天；
Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 在那裏，你們的祖宗以考驗試探了我，雖然見了我的作為，
When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10 共四十年之久。所以我厭惡了那一世代，說：衪們心中時常迷惑，衪們不認識我的道路，
Therefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11 所以我在怒中起誓說：衪們決不得進入我的安息。』
So I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
12 弟兄們你們要小心，免得你們中有人起背信的惡心，背離生活的天主；
Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 反之，只要還有「今天」在，你們要天天互相勸勉，免得你們有人因罪惡的誘惑而硬了心，
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 因為我們已成了有分於基督的人，只要我們保存著起初懷有的信心，堅定不移，直到最後，
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end;
15 經上所說：『今天你們如果聽見衪的聲音，不要再心硬了，像在叛亂之時，』
While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16 是誰聽了而起了叛亂呢﹖豈不是梅瑟從埃及領出來的眾人嗎﹖
For some, when they had heard, did provoke: yet not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 四十年之久，天主厭惡了誰呢﹖不是那些犯了罪，而衪們的屍首倒在曠野中的人嗎﹖
But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
18 衪向誰起了誓，不准進入衪的安息呢﹖不是向那些背信的人嗎﹖
And to whom did he swear that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19 於是我們看出：衪們不得進入安息，是因了背信的緣故。
So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
