哈該書 1
1 [第一篇演詞]達理阿王二年六月初一，有上主的話藉哈蓋先知傳給沙耳提耳的兒子猶大省長則魯巴貝耳，和約匝達克火兒子大司祭耶叔亞說：
In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of Yahweh came by the hand of Haggai the prophet to the governor of Judah, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and to the high priest Joshua son of Jehozadak, saying,
2 萬軍的上主這樣說：這百姓說：「建築上主的殿字的時候還沒有到! 」
“Yahweh of hosts says this: These people say, 'It is not time for us to come or to build Yahweh's house.'”
3 於是上主的話藉哈蓋先知說：「
Then the word of Yahweh came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying,
4 當這座殿還尸一堆廢墟時，難道為你們就到了住有天花皮的房屋的時候﹖
“Is it a time for you yourselves to live in your finished houses, while this house lies ruined?
5 如今萬軍的上主這樣說：你們應細心考慮一下你們的行逕!
So now Yahweh of hosts says this: Consider your ways!
6 你們播種的多，卻收割的少；你們吃，卻總吃不飽；你們喝，卻總喝不夠；你們穿衣，卻總不覺溫暖；賺了工資，無異尸將工資投了破囊。
You have sown much seed, but bring in little harvest; you eat but do not have enough; you drink but cannot get drunk. You wear clothes but cannot warm yourselves, and the wage earner earns money only to put it into a bag full of holes!
7 萬軍的上主這樣說：你們應考慮一下你們的行逕!
Yahweh of hosts says this: “Consider your ways!
8 你們應上山去，搬運木材，建造殿宇! 葷到家時裏，我必因此喜悅，並發顯光榮──上主說。
Go up to the mountain, bring timber, and build my house; then I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified!—says Yahweh.”
9 你們期望豐收，看，反而歉收；你們運到家裏，我反把它吃散；這是為了什麼﹖──萬軍上主的斷語──是為了我的殿宇尚在荒廢，而你們竟各自趕造自己的房屋。
“You looked for much, but behold! you have brought little home, for I blew it away! Why?” declares Yahweh of hosts. “Because my house lies in ruins, while every one of you is working on his own house.
10 為此，上主對你們停降雨露，大地也停止了出產，
Because of this the heavens withhold the dew from you, and the earth withholds its produce.
11 因為我向大地、群山、五穀、新油、田地的出產、人畜和手中的一切工作招來了旱災。」
I have summoned a drought upon the land and upon the mountains, upon the grain and upon the new wine, upon the oil and upon the harvest of the earth, upon men and upon beasts, and upon all the labor of your hands!”
12 於是沙耳提耳的兒子則魯巴貝耳的兒子，約匝達克的兒子大司祭耶叔亞，以及全體遺民都聽從了上主，他們天主的聲音，也聽從了上主，他們的天主給他們派遺來的哈蓋先知的話；因此百姓在上主面前都起了敬畏的心。
Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and the high priest Joshua son of Jehozadak, along with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Yahweh their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, because Yahweh their God had sent him and the people feared the face of Yahweh.
13 上主的使者哈蓋就以上主使者的名義向人民說：我與你們同在──上主的斷語。
Then Haggai, the messenger of Yahweh, spoke Yahweh's message to the people and said, “I am with you!—this is Yahweh's declaration!”
14 於是上主振興起了沙耳提耳的兒子猶大省長則魯巴貝耳的精神，以及約匝達克的兒子大司祭耶叔亞的，和全體遺民的精神，他們便都上前來興工建造萬軍的上主，他們的天主的聖殿。
So Yahweh stirred up the spirit of the governor of Judah, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and the spirit of the high priest Joshua son of Jehozadak, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, so that they went and worked on the house of Yahweh of hosts, their God
15 時在達理阿王二年六月二十四日。
in the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
