創世記 2
1 這樣，天地和天地間的一切點綴都完成了。
And the heavens and the earth and all their host were finished.
2 到第七天天主造物的工程已完成，就在第七天休息，停止了所作的一切工程。
And God had finished on the seventh day his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 天主祝福了第七天，定為聖日，因為這一天，天主停止了他所行的一切創造工作。
And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it, because that on it he rested from all his work which God had created in making it.
4 這是創造天地的來歷：在上主天主創造天地時，
These are the histories of the heavens and the earth, when they were created, in the day that Jehovah Elohim made earth and heavens,
5 地上還沒有灌木，田間也沒有生出蔬菜，因為上主天主還沒有使雨降在地上，也沒有人耕種土地，
and every shrub of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew; for Jehovah Elohim had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground.
6 有從地下湧出的水浸潤所有地面。
But a mist went up from the earth, and moistened the whole surface of the ground.
7 上主天主用地上的灰土形成了人，在他鼻孔內吹了一口生氣，人就成了一個有靈的生物。
And Jehovah Elohim formed Man, dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and Man became a living soul.
8 上主天主在伊甸東部種植了一個樂園，就將他形成的人安置在裏面。
And Jehovah Elohim planted a garden in Eden eastward, and there put Man whom he had formed.
9 上主天主使地面生出各種好看好吃的果樹，生命樹和知善惡樹在樂園中央。
And out of the ground Jehovah Elohim made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; and the tree of life, in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
10 有一條河由伊甸流出灌溉樂園，由那裏分為四支：
And a river went out of Eden, to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became four main streams.
11 第一支名叫丕雄，環流產金的哈威拉全境；
The name of the one is Pison: that is it which surrounds the whole land of Havilah, where the gold is.
12 那地方的金子很好，那裏還產真珠和瑪瑙；
And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and the onyx stone are there.
13 第二支河名叫基紅，環流雇士全境；
And the name of the second river is Gihon: that is it which surrounds the whole land of Cush.
14 第三支河名叫底格里斯，流入亞述東部；第四支河即幼發拉的。
And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which flows forward toward Asshur. And the fourth river, that is Euphrates.
15 上主天主將人安置在伊甸的樂園內，叫他耕種，看守樂園。
And Jehovah Elohim took Man, and put him into the garden of Eden, to till it and to guard it.
16 上主天主給人下令說：「樂園中各樹上的果子，你都可吃，
And Jehovah Elohim commanded Man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou shalt freely eat;
17 只有知善惡樹上的果子你不可吃，因為那一天你吃了，必定要死。」
but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest of it thou shalt certainly die.
18 上主天主說：「人單獨不好，我要給他造個與他相稱的助手。」
And Jehovah Elohim said, It is not good that Man should be alone; I will make him a helpmate, his like.
19 上主天主用塵土造了各種野獸和天空中的各種飛鳥，都引到人面前，看他怎樣起名；凡人給生物起的名字，就成了那生物的名字。
And out of the ground Jehovah Elohim had formed every animal of the field and all fowl of the heavens, and brought [them] to Man, to see what he would call them; and whatever Man called each living soul, that was its name.
20 人遂給各主畜牲、天空中的各種飛鳥和各種野獸起了名字；但他沒有找著一個與自己相稱的助手。
And Man gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the heavens, and to every beast of the field; but as for Adam, he found no helpmate, his like.
21 上主天主遂使人熟睡，當他睡著了，就取出了他的一根肋骨，再用肉補滿原處。
And Jehovah Elohim caused a deep sleep to fall upon Man; and he slept. And he took one of his ribs and closed up flesh in its stead.
22 然後上主天主用那由人取來的肋骨，形成了一個女人，引她到人前，
And Jehovah Elohim built the rib that he had taken from Man into a woman; and brought her to Man.
23 遂說：「這才真是我的親骨肉，她應稱為「女人，」因為是由男人取出的。」
And Man said, This time it is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh: this shall be called Woman, because this was taken out of a man.
24 為此人應離開自己的父母，依附自己的妻子，二人成為一體。
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
25 當時，男女二人都赤身露體，並不害羞。
And they were both naked, Man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
