以西結書 31
1 十一年三月一日，上主的話傳給我說：「
And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, that the word of Yhwh came unto me, saying,
2 人子，你要向埃及王法郎和他的民眾說：你的偉大相似誰呢﹖
Son of man, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude; Whom art thou like in thy greatness?
3 看，你是一棵黎巴嫩香柏，枝葉美觀，蔭影濃密，枝幹高大，樹梢插入雲霄。
Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs.
4 水使它長大，淵泉使它長高；河水由四周流入栽植它之地，支流灌溉田中其他的樹木。
The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field.
5 為此它的枝幹高過田間的一切樹木，因為水多，生長時枝業繁茂，枝條特長。
Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth.
6 天上的一切飛鳥在它枝幹上築巢，田間的野獸在他的枝葉下生子，各國的人民住在它的蔭影下。
All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations.
7 它的枝葉廣闊，高大華麗，因為它的根深入多水之地。
Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters.
8 天主樂園中的香柏，都不能同它相比，扁柏不及它的枝幹，楓樹不及它的枝椏，天主樂園中所有的樹木都沒有它那樣美麗。
The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chesnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty.
9 我使它枝葉茂盛而美麗，致令「伊甸」──天主樂園──中所有的樹木都嫉妒它。
I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.
10 因此吾主上主這樣說：因它枝幹高大，枝梢插入雲霄，遂因自己高大而心高氣傲。
Therefore thus saith the Lord Yhwh; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
11 我必將它交在列國最強的人手中，他們要任意對待它；我必要因它的罪行而將它剷除；
I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
12 列國最兇殘的人必要將它伐倒，把它拋棄在山上；它的枝椏，倒臥在山谷中，枝條折落在一切窪地上；萬國的人民都要離開它的蔭影，而棄捨它；
And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
13 天上飛鳥都棲在它倒了的枝幹上，田間的各種野獸都停在它的枝條下，
Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:
14 這是為使一切有水滋潤的樹木，不要因自己的軀幹高大而自負，不要再讓枝梢插入雲霄，免得各種有水滋潤的樹木，因高聳而自大，因為他們都要歸於死亡，降到陰間，到那些已降入深淵的人子中。 (questioned)
To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
Thus saith the Lord Yhwh; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him. (Sheol h7585)
I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth. (Sheol h7585)
They also went down into hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen. (Sheol h7585)
18 伊甸」的樹木中，就華麗和高大說，你相似那一棵﹖你也要同「伊甸」的樹木一起被推入陰間，在未受割損的人中，同喪身刀下的人臥在一起：這是指法郎和他所有的人民說的──吾主上主的斷語。」 (questioned)
To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord Yhwh.
