申命記 25
1 幾時人與人之間發生爭訟，而對簿公庭，定案時，正直的，應聲明他正直；有罪的，應判定他有罪；
If there is a controversy between men, and they come to judgment, and the judges judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked;
2 如有罪的應受鞭刑，判官應命他伏下，當面按他的罪照數鞭打；
and it shall be if the wicked man deserves to be beaten, that the judge shall make him lie down and be beaten in his presence with a number of stripes, according to his guilt.
3 只可打他四十下，不可再多；怕鞭打他超過這數目，你的兄弟在你眼前過於受辱。
He may give him forty stripes and no more. Otherwise, if he should go on and beat him with more stripes than these, your brother will be humiliated in your eyes.
4 牛在打場的時候，不可籠住牠的嘴。
You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain.
5 如果兄弟住在一起，其中一個沒有留下兒子就死了；死者的妻子不可出嫁外人，丈夫的兄弟應走近她，以她為妻，對她履行兄弟的義務。
If brothers dwell together, and one of them die, and have no son, the wife of the dead shall not be married outside to a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in to her, and take her to him as wife, and perform the duty of a husband's brother to her.
6 她所生的長子，應歸亡兄名下，免得他的名由以色列中消滅。
It shall be, that the firstborn whom she bears shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, that his name not be blotted out of Israel.
7 若是那人不肯娶他兄弟的妻子，他兄弟的妻子應到城門去見長老說：「我丈夫的兄弟不願在以色列中給自己的兄弟留名，不願對我盡兄弟的義務。」
If the man doesn't want to take his brother's wife, then his brother's wife shall go up to the gate to the elders, and say, "My husband's brother refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband's brother to me."
8 本城的長老應叫那人來，對他說明；如他仍堅持說：「我不願娶她。」
Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him: and if he stand, and say, "I do not want to take her";
9 他兄弟的妻子應當著長老的面，走到他跟前，從他腳上脫下他的鞋，向他臉上吐唾沫說：「那不願給自己兄弟建立家室的人，應這樣對待他。」
then his brother's wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say, "So shall it be done to the man who does not build up his brother's house."
10 從此他的名字，在以色列中，將稱為「脫鞋者的家。」
His name shall be called in Israel, The house of him who has his shoe untied.
11 若兩人彼此毆打，一人的妻子前來，救她的丈夫脫離那打他者的手，伸手抓住了那人的陰部；
When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draws near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him who strikes him, and puts forth her hand, and takes him by the private parts;
12 你應砍去她的手，不應表示憐惜。
then you shall cut off her hand, your eye shall have no pity.
13 在你袋裏不可有兩樣法碼：一大一小；
You shall not have in your bag diverse weights, a great and a small.
14 在你家內也不可有兩樣升斗：一大一小。
You shall not have in your house diverse measures, a great and a small.
15 你應有準確公正的法碼，應有準確公正的升斗，好使你在上主你的天主賜給你的地上，得享長壽；
You shall have a perfect and just weight. You shall have a perfect and just measure, that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
16 因為凡做這些事的，凡做事不公平的，於上主你的天主都是可憎惡的。
For all who do such things, all who do unrighteously, are an abomination to the LORD your God.
17 你應記得，當你由埃及出來時，阿瑪肋克在路上怎樣對待了你：
Remember what Amalek did to you by the way as you came forth out of Egypt;
18 怎樣在路上襲擊了你，乘你困乏無力，攻擊你後方所有疲憊的人，一點也不怕天主。
how he met you by the way, and struck the hindmost of you, all who lagged behind you, when you were faint and weary; and he did not fear God.
19 所以，當上主你的天主賜你擺脫你四周的一切仇敵，在上主你的天主賜給你作產業的地上，安享太平時，你應由天下抹去阿瑪肋克的名字；不可忘記!
Therefore it shall be, when the LORD your God has given you rest from all your enemies all around, in the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it, that you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky; you shall not forget.
