列王紀下 12
1 他在耶胡第七年即位為王，在耶路撒冷作王凡四十年。他的母親名叫漆彼雅，是貝耳舍巴人。
In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Zibiah of Beer–sheba.
2 約阿士在司祭約雅達教導他期間，行了上主視為正義的事，
And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of Yhwh all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
3 只是沒有廢除高丘，人民仍在高丘上焚香獻祭。
But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
4 約阿士對司祭說：「凡人向上主的殿繳納作獻儀錢，不論是人丁贖金，或樂意捐獻於上主殿中的錢，
And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of Yhwh, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man’s heart to bring into the house of Yhwh,
5 司祭們都可以接收，每人也可向相識的人去勸捐；但司祭們應該修理聖殿需要修理的破壞之處。」
Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.
6 但是，直到約阿士王第二十三年，司祭尚未修理聖殿的破壞之處。
But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.
7 於是約阿士王將約雅達大司祭和其他司祭召來，問他們說：「你們為什麼不修理聖殿破壞之處﹖現在你們不要再向相識的人收錢了；應把所有的錢交出，用來修理聖殿的破壞之處。」
Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.
8 司祭們就同意不再向人民收錢，也不再負責修理聖殿的破壞之處。
And the priests consented to receive no more money of the people, neither to repair the breaches of the house.
9 司祭約雅達於是拿來一個箱子，箱子上面開了一個口，安放在祭壇旁邊，即在上主聖殿入口的右邊，守門的司祭將所有獻於上主聖殿的銀錢，放入箱內。
But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of Yhwh: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of Yhwh.
10 幾時看見箱內的錢夠多了，君王的秘書和大司祭就上來，把錢倒出，數點上主殿內所有的銀錢。
And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the house of Yhwh.
11 他們將秤好了的錢，交給上主殿內間監工的管理員，由他們發給在上主殿內工作的木匠和建築工人，
And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of Yhwh: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of Yhwh,
12 泥水匠和石匠，或購買木料和鑿刻好的石頭，用來修補上主殿內的破壞之處；總之，用來作為修理聖殿的費用。
And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of Yhwh, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.
13 進獻於上主聖殿的銀錢，並沒有用來製造上主殿內的銀盆、燭剪、盤子、號筒，或任何金銀器皿，
Howbeit there were not made for the house of Yhwh bowls of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of Yhwh:
14 只是將銀錢交給工作人員，用來修理上主的殿。
But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired therewith the house of Yhwh.
15 也並不需要向那些經手收錢付給工人的人算賬，因為他們做事忠信可靠。
Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.
16 至於獻作贖過祭和贖罪祭的錢，不歸於上主的殿，全歸於司祭。
The trespass money and sin money was not brought into the house of Yhwh: it was the priests’.
17 那時，阿蘭王哈匝耳上來攻打加特，也攻下了，準備進攻耶路撒冷。
Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.
18 猶大王約阿士就將他祖先猶大王約沙法特、約蘭和阿哈齊雅所奉獻的聖物，同他自己奉獻的聖物，以及上主聖殿和王宮的府庫內儲藏的金子，全部取出來，送給了阿蘭王哈匝耳；哈匝耳就離開了耶路撒冷。
And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of Yhwh, and in the king’s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.
19 約阿士其餘的事蹟，他行的一切，都記載在猶大列王實錄上。
And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
20 約阿士的臣僕起來結黨謀反，在約阿士下到米羅宮時，將他殺死；
And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla.
21 殺他的是他的臣僕史默阿特的兒子約匝加爾和芍默爾的兒子約匝巴得。他死後，人將他葬在達味城，與祖先埋在一起；他的兒子阿瑪責雅繼位為王。
For Jozachar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.
