撒母耳記上 18
1 達味同撒烏耳說完了話，約納堂的心和達味的心很相契；約納堂愛他如愛自己一樣。
And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
2 那天，撒烏耳把達味留下，不讓他回父家去。
And Saul took him that day, and would no more let him go home to his father's house.
3 約納堂同達味結為盟友，愛他如愛自己一樣。
Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.
4 約納堂脫下自己穿的外氅，連軍裝，帶刀劍，甚至弓和腰帶，都給了達味。
And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his apparel, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his belt.
5 撒烏耳派達味出去無論作什麼事，沒有不成功的；故此撒烏耳派他作軍隊的將領；軍民和撒烏耳的臣僕都非常喜愛他。
And David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and it was good in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul's servants.
6 當達味殺死那培肋舍特人後，班師回來時，婦女們從城中出來，唱歌跳舞，打鼓彈琴，興高采烈地前來歡迎撒烏耳君王。
And it came to pass as they came, when David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with timbrels, with joy, and with instruments of music.
7 婦女們邊唱邊跳說：「撒烏耳殺了一千，達味殺了一萬」。
And the women sang one to another as they played, and said, Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.
8 撒烏耳因此很是憤怒，這話使他很不高興，遂說：「給了根一萬，只給我一千；他所少的只有王位了!」
And Saul was very angry, and this saying displeased him, and he said, They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands, and what can he have more but the kingdom?
9 從那一天起，撒烏耳常嫉視達味。
And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.
10 第二天，惡神由天主那裏降到撒烏耳身上；使他在屋中發狂。達味一如往日手中彈著琴，撒烏耳手中卻拿著一根長槍，
And it came to pass on the morrow, that an evil spirit from God came mightily upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house. And David played with his hand, as he did day by day, and Saul had his spear in his hand.
11 撒烏耳舉起槍來，想把達味釘在牆上；達味已由他面前逃脫了兩次。
And Saul cast the spear, for he said, I will smite David even to the wall. And David turned away from his presence twice.
12 撒烏耳害怕達味，因為上主與達味同在，而離開了撒烏耳。
And Saul was afraid of David because Jehovah was with him, and was departed from Saul.
13 因此，撒烏耳叫他離開自己，派他作千夫長，達味便在軍民前往來出入。
Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand, and he went out and came in before the people.
14 達味在所行的一切事上，無不順利，因為天主與他同在。
And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways, and Jehovah was with him.
15 撒烏耳見他辦事順利，就更疑懼他。
And when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.
16 但全以色列和猶大人卻愛達味，因為他在他們前往來出入。
But all Israel and Judah loved David, for he went out and came in before them.
17 撒烏耳對達味說：「看；我要把我的長女默辣布嫁給你為妻，只要你為我勇敢服務，為上主作戰」。──撒烏耳心中想：我不親手害他，讓培肋舍特人加害他。
And Saul said to David, Behold, my elder daughter Merab, I will give her to thee for a wife. Only be thou valiant for me, and fight Jehovah's battles. For Saul said, Let not my hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.
18 達味回答撒烏耳說：「我是誰，我父在以色列又算得什麼，我怎配作君王的女婿﹖」
And David said to Saul, Who am I, and what is my life, or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?
19 但是撒烏耳的女兒默辣布正要嫁給達味的時候，卻嫁給了默曷拉人阿德黎耳為妻。
But it came to pass at the time when Merab, Saul's daughter, should have been given to David, that she was given to Adriel the Meholathite to wife.
20 當時撒烏耳的女兒米加耳很愛達味；有人告訴了撒烏耳，他看這事好，
And Michal, Saul's daughter, loved David, and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.
21 心想：「我把她嫁給達味，叫她成為他的羅網，藉培肋舍特人害他」。所以撒烏耳再次對達味說：「今天你要作我的女婿了! 」
And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Therefore Saul said to David, Thou shall this day be my son-in-law a second time.
22 撒烏耳吩咐他的臣僕說：「你們暗暗地告訴達味說：看，君王多麼喜愛你，如今你要作君王的女婿了! 」
And Saul commanded his servants, saying, Converse with David secretly, and say, Behold, the king has delight in thee, and all his servants love thee. Now therefore be the king's son-in-law.
23 撒烏耳的臣僕將這些話告訴了達味；達味反答說：「你們以為作君王的女婿軟碟件小事嗎﹖我不過是個貧窮賤卑賤的人」。
And Saul's servants spoke those words in the ears of David. And David said, Does it seem to you a light thing to be the king's son-in-law, seeing that I am a poor man, and lightly esteemed?
24 撒烏耳的臣僕回報王說：「達味如此如此說了」。
And the servants of Saul told him, saying, On this manner David spoke.
25 撒烏耳答說：「你們要這樣對達味說：君王不要什麼聘禮，只要一百培培肋舍特人的包皮，為報復君王的仇敵」。撒烏耳有意使達味落在培肋舍特人手中。
And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king does not desire any dowry, but a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies. Now Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.
26 他的臣僕將這些話轉告給達味，達味看這事為作君王的女婿也對，所限的日期尚未過去，
And when his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king's son-in-law. And the days were not expired.
27 達味就和他的人起身去殺死了一百培肋舍特人，將他們的包皮帶回，足數交給君王，為作君王的女婿；撒烏耳就將女兒米加耳嫁給他為妻。
And David arose and went, he and his men, and killed of the Philistines two hundred men. And David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full number to the king, that he might be the king's son-in-law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife.
28 撒烏耳看出了上主與達味同在，全以色列也都愛他，
And Saul saw and knew that Jehovah was with David, and Michal, Saul's daughter, loved him.
29 從此更疑懼達味，終身與他為敵。
And Saul was yet the more afraid of David, and Saul was David's enemy continually.
30 培肋舍特人的首領仍不斷出征；但每遇他們出征，達味所行的常比撒烏耳所有的臣僕成就更大，為此他更受人景仰。
Then the rulers of the Philistines went forth, and it came to pass, as often as they went forth, that David behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul, so that his name was very precious.
