1 [建造王宮]提洛王希蘭派使臣來見達味，給他送來香柏木，派來石匠和木工，為他建宮室。
And Churam the king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and trees of cedars, and masons and carpenters, to build him a house.
2 那時達味知道上主已確定他為以色列王，並為了自己的百姓以色列，提高了他的王位。[達味的子女]
And David felt conscious that the Lord had established him as king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, because of his people Israel.
3 達味在耶路撒冷又娶了妻室，生了許多子女。
And David took yet more wives at Jerusalem; and David begat more sons and daughters.
4 達味在耶路撒冷所生兒子的名字如下：沙慕亞、芍巴布、納堂、撒羅滿、
And these are the names of the children that he had in Jerusalem: Shammua', and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5 依貝哈爾、厄里叔亞、厄里培肋特、
And Yibchar, and Elishua', and Elpalet,
6 諾加、乃費格、雅非亞、
And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Yaphia',
7 厄里沙瑪、貝里雅達和厄里培肋特。[擊敗培肋舍特]
And Elishama', and Be'elyada', and Eliphalet.
8 培肋舍特人聽說達味受傅，為全以色列王，遂都上來向達味尋釁。達味聽說，便出來迎擊。
But when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king over all Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them.
9 培肋舍特人上來侵入了勒法因平原。
And the Philistines came and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.
10 那時，達味求問天主說：「我可以上去攻打培肋舍特人嗎﹖你將他們交在我手中嗎﹖」上主答應他說：「你上去，我必將他們交在你手中。」
And David asked counsel of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said unto him, Go up; and I will deliver them into thy hand.
11 達味於是上到巴耳培辣親，在那裏擊敗了他們。達味因此說：「天主假我的手使我的敵人崩潰，如水破堤。」因此後人稱這地方為巴耳培辣親。
And they came up to Ba'al-perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken down my enemies through my hand as a breach [is made] by water: therefore they called the name of that place Ba'al-perazim.
12 培肋舍特人把自己的神像都遺棄在那裏，達味命人用火燒毀。
And they left behind there their gods, and David gave the order, and they were burnt with fire.
13 培肋舍特人又侵入平原。
And the Philistines [came] once again, and spread themselves out in the valley.
14 達味又求問天主，天主對他說：「不要一直上去追擊他們，要繞到他們後方，曾桑林那邊抄他們的後路。
And David asked again counsel of God; and God said unto him, Thou shalt not go up after them: turn about from them, and come upon them opposite the mulberry-trees,
15 你一聽見桑樹梢上有腳步聲，要即刻出戰，因為天主在你面前出擊培肋舍特人的軍隊。」
And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of walking on the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle; for God will be gone forth before thee to smite the camp of the Philistines.
16 達味就照天主所命的行了，擊殺培肋舍特人的軍隊，由基貝紅直到革則爾。
And David did as God had commanded him; and they smote the camp of the Philistines from Gib'on as far as Gezer.
17 因此，達味的聲名傳遍了各地，上主使各民族都害怕他。
And the fame of David went out into all the lands; and the Lord laid the dread of him upon all the nations.
