< Rom 9 >

1 Kai teh Khrih dawk laithout laipalah lawkkatang ka dei han. Kaie thoehawi panuenae teh Kathoung Muitha lahoi kai hoi cungtalah kampangkhai teh,
I tell the truth in Christ. I am not lying, my conscience testifying with me in the Holy Spirit
2 Kai dawk puenghoi lungmathoenae hoi ka lungthung vah lungpuennae pou ka tawn.
that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.
3 Bangkongtetpawiteh, takthai lahoi ka miphun lah kaawm e ka hmaunawnghanaw hanelah kama roeroe Khrih hoi kampek vaiteh thoebonae khang han totouh ngainae ka tawn.
For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brothers’ sake, my relatives according to the flesh
4 Ahnimouh teh Isarel miphun lah ao teh cacoungnae, bawilennae, lawkkamnae, kâlawk poenae, bawknae teh ahnimouh hoi ka kâkuen e lah ao.
who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service, and the promises;
5 Mintoenaw teh ahnimouh hoi a kâkuet teh, Khrih hai tami lahoi teh ahnimouh thung hoi a tâco. Hote Bawipa teh bangpuengpa e lathueng vah ao teh, a yungyoe yawhawinae Cathut lah ao. Amen. (aiōn g165)
of whom are the fathers, and from whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 Bangtelah nakunghai thoseh, Cathut lawkkam teh raphoe e lah awmhoeh. Bangkongtetpawiteh Isarel catoun lah kaawm e pueng Isarel miphun lah awm awh hoeh.
But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel that are of Israel.
7 Abraham e catoun lah kaawm e pueng Abram e ca katang lah koung awmhoeh. Isak koehoi e catoun doeh nange catoun lah kaw han tie lah ao.
Neither, because they are Abraham’s offspring, are they all children. But, “your offspring will be accounted as from Isaac.”
8 A deingainae teh takthai lahoi khe lah kaawm e taminaw teh Cathut e ca lah awmhoeh, lawkkam dawk hoi khe e tami dueng doeh a miphun lah a khoe.
That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as heirs.
9 Bangkongtetpawiteh lawkkam dawkvah het patet e tueng a pha navah, bout ka tho han. Sarah haiyah capa a khe han telah ati.
For this is a word of promise: “At the appointed time I will come, and Sarah will have a son.”
10 Hot dueng nahoeh, Rebekah hai maimae mintoe Isak hoi yuvâ lah ao teh camo a vawn navah,
Not only so, but Rebekah also conceived by one, by our father Isaac.
11 A ca khe hoehnahlan, a canaw ni a thoehawi banghai a panue awh hoehnahlan hoiyah, Cathut ni a rawinae lah kaawm e a pouk tangcoung e hah, thaw tawknae lahoi laipalah, a kawnae lahoi caksak nahanlah,
For being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him who calls,
12 Ca kacue e teh kanaw koe san lah ao han telah sut a dei pouh toe.
it was said to her, “The elder will serve the younger.”
13 Jakop teh ka lungpataw, Esaw teh ka hmuhma telah Cakathoung dawk thut e patetlah doeh ao.
Even as it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”
Khoeroe awmhoeh.
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? May it never be!
For he said to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
16 Hatdawkvah het hateh, tami e ngainae hoi kâyawmnae dawk tho hoeh, lungpatawkung Cathut kâ lah doeh ao.
So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy.
For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I caused you to be raised up, that I might show in you my power, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”
18 Hatdawkvah, Cathut ni a pahren ngai e hah a pahren teh, a lungpata sak hanlah a ngai e hah a lungpata sak.
So then, he has mercy on whom he desires, and he hardens whom he desires.
Apini maw Cathut ngainae teh a taran thai han vaw telah na pacei han.
You will say then to me, “Why does he still find fault? For who withstands his will?”
But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed ask him who formed it, “Why did you make me like this?”
Or hasn’t the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel for honour, and another for dishonour?
22 Hatei, Cathut ni a lungkhueknae a kamnue sak hane hoi amae bahu panue sak hanelah, a ngainae ao nahlangva vah, raphoe hanlah ta e, lungkhueknae hlaamnaw hah, lungsaw poung lahoi panguep pawiteh, bangtelamaw.
What if God, willing to show his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,
23 Hathloilah, a lentoe nahanlah sut rakueng e, lungmanae hlaamnaw dawkvah, amae bawilennae hah panue sak nahanelah sak pawiteh bangtelane.
and that he might make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory—
24 Cathut ni maimanaw teh hote lungmanae hlaamnaw lah, Judahnaw thung dueng laipalah, Jentelnaw pueng koe haiyah na kaw e lah o toe.
us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?
As he says also in Hosea, “I will call them ‘my people,’ which were not my people; and her ‘beloved,’ who was not beloved.”
26 Nangmanaw teh ka tami nahoeh telah tinae hmuen koe nangmouh teh ka hring Cathut e a canaw telah na kaw awh han telah ati e patetlah ao.
“It will be that in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘children of the living God.’”
27 Isaiah nihai, Isarelnaw kong dawk a dei e teh, Isarel canaw teh tuipui rai e sadi yit touh ka phat nakunghai kacawie dueng rungngang lah ao han.
Isaiah cries concerning Israel, “If the number of the children of Israel are as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant who will be saved;
28 Bangkongtetpawiteh Cathut ni a thaw teh cum hoeh roukrak tawk vaiteh, lannae hoi a tawk han. Bawipa ni talai van a thaw teh a kuep sak vaiteh kâhat laipalah ka tawk han telah a hramkhai.
for he will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness, because the Lord will make a short work upon the earth.”
29 Hothloilah Isaiah ni, kalvan ransabawi yungyoe kahring e Cathut ni maimouh hanlah catoun pek hoehpawiteh, Sodom hoi Gomorrah khopui hoi doeh kâvan awh ti telah sut a dei e patetlah ao.
As Isaiah has said before, “Unless the Lord of Armies had left us a seed, we would have become like Sodom, and would have been made like Gomorrah.”
30 Telah pawiteh, maimouh bangtelamaw dei awh han toung. Lannae ka pâlei hoeh e Jentelnaw ni lannae teh a coe awh toe. Hothateh, yuemnae lahoi coe e lannae lah ao.
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who didn’t follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith;
31 Lannae hoi kâkuen e phung coe hanelah ka pâlei e Isarel miphun naw teh hote phung hah phat thai awh hoeh.
but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, didn’t arrive at the law of righteousness.
32 Bangkongmaw a pha thai awh hoeh. Yuemnae hoi laipalah tawksaknae dawk hoi kâyawm e lah ao dawk doeh. Ahnimouh teh talung dawk kamthui teh a tâlaw awh toe.
Why? Because they didn’t seek it by faith, but as it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stumbling stone,
33 Khenhaw!
even as it is written, “Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and a rock of offence; and no one who believes in him will be disappointed.”
