1 Hottelah pawiteh maimae na pa Abraham teh takthai lahoi bang mouh ahawinae a coe vaw.
WHAT then shall we say that Abraham our father hath obtained by the flesh?
2 Abraham teh a tawksaknae hoi lannae koe phat pawiteh kâoupkhai kawi lah ao. Cathut hmalah teh hottelah nahoeh.
For if Abraham was justified by works, he hath cause for glorying; though not before God.
3 Cakathoung dawk a dei navah Abraham teh Cathut a yuem dawkvah ahnie yuemnae teh lannae lah a khoe pouh.
For what doth the scripture say? Abraham truly believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness.
4 Thaw tawknae lahoi kutphu hmu e teh lungmanae nahoeh, a hmu hanelah a kamcu dawk a hmu e doeh.
Now to him that worketh, the reward is not brought to account as a favour, but as a debt.
5 Thaw tawknae awmhoeh eiteh, tamikayonnaw hanlah na lan toe telah katetkung Bawipa hah, ka yuem e tami teh ahnie yuemnae hah lannae lah khoe pouh lah ao.
But to him who doth not work, but believeth in him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is reckoned in account for righteousness.
6 Hot patetlah Cathut ni a thaw tawknae khen pouh laipalah a poe e lannae kacoekung e a yawhawinae hah Devit ni a dei navah,
As David also describeth the blessedness of that man, to whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 yon ngaithoum lah kaawm e, yonnae naw ramuk pouh lah kaawm naw teh a yawhawi awh.
“Blessed are they whose unrighteousnesses are forgiven, and whose sins are covered up.
8 Cathut ni yonpennae dawk hoi ka hlout e tami teh a yawhawi telah ati.
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will in nowise impute sin.”
9 Vuensoma lah kaawm naw dueng maw hote yawhawi ka coe han vaw. Ka a hoeh naw hai a coe han maw. Abraham e yuemnae teh ahnie lannae lah a khoe pouh, ati.
This blessedness then, is it for the circumcision, or for the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was imputed to Abraham for righteousness.
10 Hot hah, bangpatinah maw a khoe pouh. Vuensoma nah maw. Hoehpawiteh, vuensoma hoehnahlan maw. Vuensoma hnukkhu laipalah, vuensoma hoehnahlan vah hottelah khoe e lah ao toe.
How then was it imputed to him? when circumcised, or while uncircumcised? Not when circumcised, but whilst uncircumcised.
11 Hot patetvanlah, Abraham teh vuensoma hoehnahlan yuemnae dawk hoi tamikalan telah khoenae hah vuensomanae lahoi a kamnue sak. Het hateh Abraham hah, vuensoma laipalah ka yuem e tami pueng e na pa lah ao nahane hoi ahnimanaw hai lannae a coe awh nahane doeh.
And he received the sign of circumcision, as a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had when uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all those who believe, though uncircumcised; that to them also the righteousness might be imputed:
12 Hahoi, Abraham teh kayuemnaw pueng e na pa lah ao hane hoi vuensoma dawk dueng laipalah, a hoehnahlan hoi kaawm e yuemnae dawk ka cet naw e na pa lahai ao nahane doeh.
and the father of circumcision, not to those who are of the circumcision merely, but who also tread in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham, which he exercised while uncircumcised.
13 Hete talaivan heh râw lah na pang sak han telah Abraham koe poe e lawkkam teh, kâlawk khetsin lahoi poe e tho laipalah, yuemnae lahoi coe e lannae dawk hoi doeh poe e lah ao.
For not by the law came the promise to Abraham and his seed, that he should be heir of the world, but by the righteousness of faith.
14 Bangkongtetpawiteh, kâlawk hoi kâkuen e naw ni râw coe awh pawiteh, yuemnae teh ayawmyin lah awm vaiteh, lawkkam hai karawk han doeh.
For if they who are of the law are heirs, faith becomes vain, and the promise is useless:
15 Kâlawk ni teh lungkhueknae a tâcokhai. Hatei kâlawk awm hoeh pawiteh, payonnae hai awmhoeh.
for the law causeth wrath: for where there is no law, neither is there transgression.
16 Hatdawkvah lawkkam teh yuemnae hoi doeh a kâkuet. Hote lawkkam teh lungmanae lahoi a coung sak teh, kâlawk hoi kâkuen e miphunnaw hane dueng laipalah, Abraham e yuemnae hoi kâkuen e catoun lah kaawm e catounnaw pueng hanelah a caksak nahane doeh.
Therefore it is by faith, that it might be of grace; in order that the promise might be secured to all the seed; not only to that which is of the law, but to that which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 Kai ni nang teh moikapap e miphunnaw e na pa lah na coung sak toe telah Cakathoung dawk thut e patetlah Abraham teh ama ni a yuem e Cathut, kadout e naw hah kahring sak niteh, kaawm hoeh e hnonaw hah ao thai nahanelah kâ ka poe thai e Cathut hmalah, maimouh pueng e na pa lah ao.
(as it is written “that I have constituted thee father of many nations,”) before God, in whom he trusted, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth things that are not as if existing.
18 Ahni teh ngaihawi hanlah kaawm hoeh toung e hah a ngaihawi, a yuem teh, na catoun teh hettelah ao han telah lawkkam pouh e patetlah moikapap e miphunnaw e na pa lah ao.
Who contrary to hope, in hope believed, that he should be the father of many nations, according to what was said, “So shall thy seed be.”
19 Ahni teh a kum cum touh bang a pha nah, amae a tak teh kadout e patetlah ao e hoi, Sarah e von a due toe tie hai a panue eiteh yuemnae dawk a thayounnae awmhoeh.
And not being weak in faith, he regarded not his own body now deadened, being about an hundred years old, nor the deadness of Sarah’s womb:
20 Cathut e lawkkam dawk lunghringnae tawn laipalah yuemnae a len poung teh Cathut a pholen.
for he disputed not against the promise of God with unbelief; but was mighty in faith, giving glory to God;
21 Cathut teh lawkkam a poe e patetlah a sak thai tie hai khoeroe a yuem.
and enjoyed the fullest assurance, that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 Hatdawkvah, yuemnae hah ahnie lannae lah khoe pouh e lah ao.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Hatei, ahni hah khoe e lah ao telah Cakathoung dawk a thut e teh, Abraham buet touh hane dueng nahoeh. Maimouh hanelah hai thut e lah ao.
Now it was not written for his sake only, that it was imputed to him;
24 Maimae Bawipa Jisuh hah duenae koehoi kathawsakkung hah ka yuem e maimouh hai na lan toe telah na khoe awh han.
but also for our sakes, to whom it will be imputed, if we believe in him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25 Bawipa Jisuh teh maimae payonnae dawkvah, thei e lah ao teh maimouh lansaknae coe nahanelah a thaw toe.
who was delivered up for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
