1 Kathutkung: Devit Oe BAWIPA, lungkhuek laihoi na yue hanh, na lungphuen laihoi na yue hanh.

To the Chief Musician, with stringed Instruments upon the eighth. A Melody of David. O Yahweh! do not, in thine anger, correct me, nor, in thy wrath, chastise me.

2 Oe BAWIPA, na pahren haw. Ka tha a youn. Oe BAWIPA, na dam sak haw. Ka hrunaw teh runae a kâhmo toe.

Show me favour, O Yahweh, for languishing am I: Heal me, O Yahweh, —for dismayed are my bones:

3 Ka hringnae hai a ru toe. Oe BAWIPA, nâsittouh maw na ro han.

Yea, my soul, is dismayed greatly, Thou, then, O Yahweh—how long?

4 Oe BAWIPA, bout ban nateh, na rungngang haw. Oe na lungmanae hoi na rungngang haw.

Return, O Yahweh, deliver my soul, Save me, for the sake of thy lovingkindness;

5 Bangkongtetpawiteh, duenae koehoi nang pouknae awmhoeh, apinimouh phuen koehoi lunghawinae lawk a dei han. (Sheol h7585)

For, in death, is no remembrance of thee, —In hades, who shall give thanks unto thee? (Sheol h7585)

6 Ka cingounae koe ka tâwn. Kho pei ka dai lah ka ikhun dawk ka ka teh, ka mitphi ni lahoung koung a duk sak.

I am weary with my sighing, I flood, through the whole night, my couch, —With my tears, I cause, my bed, to dissolve:

7 Lungmathoenae kecu dawk ka mit koung a ro teh, ka tarannaw kecu dawk a mawm toe.

My face, is all sunken with sorrow, —it hath aged, because of all mine adversaries.

8 Payonnae kasaknaw pueng, na cettakhai awh leih. Bangkongtetpawiteh, BAWIPA ni ka kanae lawk hai a thai.

Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity, for Yahweh hath heard the voice of my weeping:

9 BAWIPA ni ka kâheinae hah a thai toe. BAWIPA ni ka ratoumnae hah a dâw han.

Yahweh, hath heard my supplication, Yahweh, will receive, my prayer.

10 Ka taran pueng kaya laihoi ru awh naseh. Ban awh naseh, vaitalahoi kayak awh naseh.

Let all my foes, turn pale and be greatly dismayed, Again let them turn pale in a moment.
