< Sam 49 >
1 Kathutkung: Korah capanaw Tamimaya hetheh thai awh haw. Talai van kaawm e pueng thai awh haw.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. Hear this, all [ye] people; give ear, all [ye] inhabitants of the world:
2 Ka rahnoum hoi ka rasang, ka tawnta hoi ka mathoe pueng cungtalah thai awh haw.
Both low and high, rich and poor together.
My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart [shall be] of understanding.
4 Cingthuilawk koe lah ka hnâ ka pakeng vaiteh, lawk ka ru ka dei e hah, ka ratoung hoi ka cai sak han.
I will incline my ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
Why should I fear in the days of evil, [when] the iniquity of my heels shall encompass me?
6 Ahnimouh teh amamae hnopai hah a kâuep awh teh, a tawnta awh e dawk ka kâoup awh nakunghai,
They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
7 amamae hmaunawngha apinihai ratang thai mahoeh. Ratangnae phu Cathut koe poe thai hoeh.
None [of them] can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
8 Ahnimae hringnae ratang nahane aphu apap poung. Hatdawkvah, nâtuek hai poe hane khout thai hoeh.
(For the redemption of their soul [is] precious, and it ceaseth for ever: )
9 Ratang pawiteh, a yungyoe a hring han doeh. Pawknae koe phat mahoeh.
That he should still live for ever, [and] not see corruption.
10 Tamilungkaang hai a due. Hot patetvanlah, tamipathu hoi bangpuibangpa lah kaawm hoeh e hai a due van. Hahoi, hnopainaw hah ayânaw hanelah a ceitakhai awh tie hah a hmu awh.
For he seeth [that] wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
11 A lungthung hoi teh amamae im hah a yungyoe kangning hanelah a pouk awh. A onae im hah se pueng dawk kangning hanelah a pouk awh. Amamae ram hah a min a phu sak awh.
Their inward thought [is], [that] their houses [shall continue] for ever, [and] their dwelling places to all generations; they call [their] lands after their own names.
12 Hatei, tami heh bari lah ao eiteh, kangning hoeh. Kahmakatanae koe ka phat e saring patetlah doeh ao.
Nevertheless man [being] in honor abideth not: he is like the beasts [that] perish.
13 Hethateh tamipathunaw e lamthung doeh. Hahoi, a catounnaw hai a dei awh e patetlah ao awh.
This their way [is] their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. (Selah)
14 A duenae hmuen koelah ceikhai e tu patetlah ao awh. (Sheol )
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. (Sheol )
(Sheol )
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. (Selah) (Sheol )
16 Tami buet touh a tawnta teh, a imthungkhu bawilennae hoi hoehoe a kâthap navah, taket hanh.
Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and [men] will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.
19 a napanaw ceinae koe a cei van vaiteh, nâtuek hai kho ang hmawt thai awh mahoeh toe.
He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
20 Tami ni bari e lah ao eiteh, panuethainae ka tawn hoeh e teh, saring kahmakata e patetlah doeh ao.
Man [that is] in honor, and understandeth not, is like the beasts [that] perish.
