1 Kathutkung: Devit BAWIPA ni na awmkhai hoeh pawiteh, telah Isarelnaw ni atu a dei awh hane teh,

A Song of degrees of David. If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;

2 BAWIPA teh maimouh koe lah awm hoeh pawiteh, taminaw ni na taran awh navah,

If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

3 a lungkhuek awh vaiteh, maimouh hah hringo na payawp awh toe.

Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

4 Hatnavah, tui ni maimanaw teh muen na ramuk teh tui ka lawng e ni, maimae hringnae van muen a lawng sin toe.

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

5 Puenghoi kalawng e tui ni maimae hringnae teh muen a lawng sin toe, tie hah doeh.

Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

6 Ahnimouh ni hâ hoi na ai awh nahanelah, maimanaw hah ahnimouh koe na poe awh hoeh. BAWIPA teh pholen lah awm seh.

Blessed [be] the LORD, who hath not given us [as] a prey to their teeth.

7 Maimae hringnae teh, tangkam dawk hoi kahlout e tava patetlah a hlout toe. Tangkam a lawt teh, maimouh hlout awh toe.

Our soul hath escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare [is] broken, and we have escaped.

8 Maimouh kabawpnae teh, kalvan hoi talai ka sak e BAWIPA min lahoi coe awh.

Our help [is] in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
