< Sam 109 >
1 Kathutkung: Devit Oe ka pholen e ka Cathut, duem awm hanh.
For the music director. A psalm of David. God, the one I praise, please don't remain silent,
because wicked and deceitful people are attacking me, telling lies about me.
3 Hmuhmanae lawk hoi na kalup awh teh, a khuekhaw awm laipalah na tuk awh.
They surround me with words of hate, fighting against me for no reason.
4 Ka lungpataw e naw teh na katarankung lah a coung awh. Hatei, ratoum laihoi ka o.
I love them, but they respond with hostility towards me, even while I'm praying for them!
They pay me back with evil instead of good, with hatred instead of love.
6 Ahnimae lathueng vah tamikathoutnaw tat nateh, aranglah vah tarannaw awm naseh.
“Appoint someone wicked over him. Have someone stand as an accuser against him.
7 Lawkceng navah sung naseh, a ratoumnae teh yonnae lah coung pouh naseh.
When he is judged and sentenced, may he be found guilty. Let his prayers be counted as sins.
8 A hringnae hnin duem naseh, a thaw teh ayâ alouk ni patawm naseh.
May his life be short; let someone else take over his position.
9 A canaw teh nara lah awm awh naseh, a yu teh lahmai naseh.
May his children be left fatherless, and his wife become a widow.
10 A canaw teh kâva awh naseh, ka rawk tangcoung e amamae hmuen koehoi rawca tawng awh naseh.
May his children be homeless, wandering beggars, driven from their ruined houses.
11 Tangka kacawisaknaw ni a canaw teh laiba dawk lat pouh naseh, a tawk teh a tawn tangcoung e hai apimouh ti panue hoeh e ni koung lat pouh naseh.
May creditors seize all that he owns; may strangers take all that he worked for.
12 A lathueng vah apinihai lungmanae kamnuek sak hanh naseh. A ca naranaw hai apinihai pahren hanh naseh.
May no one be kind to him; may no one take pity on his fatherless children.
13 A ca catounnaw hai dout naseh. A catoun awm laipalah a min kahmat naseh.
May his descendants die; may his family name be wiped out in the next generation.
14 A na mintoenaw e yonnae teh, BAWIPA hmalah pou pâkuem naseh. A manu yonnae raphoe pouh hanh naseh.
May the Lord be reminded of the sins of his fathers; may his mother's sins not be blotted out.
15 Hotnaw teh BAWIPA hmalah pou kamnuek naseh.
May their sins be constantly before the Lord; may his name be totally forgotten by people.
16 Bangkongtetpawiteh, lungmanae kamnue sak hanelah, panuek awh hoeh. A lung ka tangpawk e patenghai a thei thai awh nahanelah, a reikathai hoi mathoenaw hah a pacekpahlek awh.
For he didn't think to be kind to others, instead he harassed and killed the poor, the needy, the brokenhearted.
17 Thoe a bo awh e hah amamouh lathueng bawt naseh. Banglahai a noutna awh hoeh e yawhawi ni ahla poungnae koe cettakhai naseh.
He loved to put a curse on others—let it come back on him. He had no time for blessings—so may he never receive any.
18 Thoebonae hah angki lah a kho e patetlah, a von dawk tui patetlah kâen naseh. A hru thung satui patetlah kâen naseh.
He cursed as often as he got dressed. May his curses go into him like the water he drinks, like the olive oil he rubs on his skin that enters his bones.
19 A kâkhu e hah a khohna patetlah coung naseh, taisawm patetlah a keng dawk pou kâyeng naseh.
May his curses stick to him like clothing, may they be pulled tight around him like a belt.”
Na pathoe awh dawkvah, a pang awh e lah awm naseh.
May all this be the punishment of the Lord on my enemies, on those who speak evil of me.
21 Hateiteh Oe Bawipa Jehovah, kai hateh na min kecu dawk hawinae hoi na awmkhai haw. Na lungmanae dawkvah, na rungngang haw.
But treat me well, Lord God, because of your own reputation. Save me because you are faithful and good.
22 Tami ka roedeng hoi tami ka vout e lah doeh ka o. Ka thung vah ka lungthin teh hmâ a ca.
For I am poor and needy, and my heart is breaking.
23 Kanîka patetlah ka kahma teh, awsi patetlah ka kâhuet.
I am fading away like an evening shadow; I am like a locust that is shaken off.
24 Ka khokpakhu teh rawcahai kecu dawk cak hoeh, ka takthai teh a kamsoe.
I am so weak from lack of food that my legs give way; my body is just skin and bones.
People ridicule me—they look at me and shake their heads!
26 Oe BAWIPA ka Cathut, na kabawm haw. Na lungmanae patetlah na rungngang haw.
Help me, Lord my God; save me because of your trustworthy love.
27 BAWIPA, hethateh na kut hoi sak e doeh tie a panue thai awh nahanlah.
May they recognize that this is what you are doing—that you are the one who saves me.
Ahnimouh a thaw awh navah kayak awh naseh. Hatei, na san teh konawm naseh.
When they curse me, you will bless me. When they attack me, you will defeat them. And I, your servant, will be happy.
May those who accuse me be clothed with disgrace; may they cover themselves with a cloak of shame.
30 Ka pahni hoi BAWIPA teh puenghoi ka pholen han. Bokheiyah, maya hmalah ama teh ka pholen han.
But I will keep on thanking the Lord, praising him to everyone around me.
31 Bangkongtetpawiteh, yon kapennaw kut dawk hoi rungngang hanelah, ka roedengnaw e aranglah a kangdue han.
For he takes a stand to defend the needy, to save them from those who condemn them.
