< Cingthuilawk 8 >

1 Lungangnae ni a kaw teh, thaipanueknae ni a lawk a cai sak nahoehmaw.
Behold, wisdom calleth, and understanding sendeth forth her voice,
2 Monsom vah tahungnae a sak teh, lam teng hoi lamtalawi koe ouk a kangdue.
On the top of high places, by the wayside, at the house where there are [many] paths doth she place herself.
3 Khopui kâennae longkha koehoi, kâennae thonaw koevah, kacaipounglah a oung.
Alongside of gates, at the opening of the city, at the entrance of the town[-doors] doth she call loudly,
4 Oe, taminaw, nangmouh hah na kaw awh. Ka lawk hah taminaw hane doeh.
Unto you, O men, I call, and my voice [goeth forth] to the sons of men,
5 Oe kamawngrame, lungangnae hah thaipanuek awh. Nangmouh tamipathunaw thaipanueknae lungthin tawn awh haw.
Learn, O ye simple, to understand prudence: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
6 Thai awh haw, kahawi poung e hah ka dei vaiteh, ka pahni dawk hoi ka tâcawt e teh, kalan e han doeh.
Hear! for of noble things will I speak; and the opening of my lips shall be of what is equitable.
7 Bangkongtetpawiteh, ka pahni ni lawkkatang a dei han, thoenae teh ka pahni hanelah panuet a tho.
For truth uttereth my palate ever, and the abomination of my lips is wickedness.
8 Ka pahni hoi ka dei e lawk pueng teh, lannae doeh. Kâcawngmet e hoi ka longkawi e awm hoeh.
In righteousness are all the sayings of my mouth, there is in them nothing crooked or perverse.
9 Kathaipanueknaw hanelah a kamceng teh, panuenae katawnnaw hanelah a lan.
They are all evident to the man of understanding, and correct to those that have obtained knowledge.
10 Tangka hlak kaie cangkhainae hah dâw awh. Sui kahawi hlak panuenae heh kârawi awh.
Accept my correction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
11 Bangkongtetpawiteh, lungangnae teh Rubies talung hlak ahawihnawn. Ngai kawi e hno pueng hoi hote hno hah bangnue thai mahoeh.
For wisdom is better than pearls; and all the things that men wish for are not equal to her.
12 Kai, lungangnae teh lungang laihoi ka o. Panuinae hoi poukthainae hai ka tawn.
I wisdom dwell with prudence, and the knowledge of discreet thoughts do I discover.
13 BAWIPA taki e teh yon hmuhma e doeh. Kâoupnae hoi kaisuenae, yonnae lamthung hoi lawk kalan deihoehnae pahninaw heh ka hmuhma.
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride and arrogance, and the evil way: and the mouth of perverseness do I hate.
14 Kâpankhainae hoi lungangnae katang hateh, kaie naw doeh. Thaipanueknae lah ka o teh thaonae ka tawn.
Mine are counsel and sound wisdom: I am understanding; mine is might.
15 Kai pawlawk hoi siangpahrangnaw ni a uk awh teh, ukkungnaw ni kalan lah laidei ouk a tâtueng awh.
Through me do kings reign, and chieftains give decrees [in] righteousness.
16 Kai pawlawk hoi ukkungnaw hoi tami kalennaw hoi bari kaawmnaw hoi talai van e lawkcengkung pueng ni uknae kâ a tawn awh.
Through me do princes rule, and the nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
17 Kai lungpataw e teh, kai ni ka lungpataw van, atangcalah na katawngnaw ni na hmu awh han.
I indeed love those that love me: and those that seek me earnestly shall find me.
18 Tawntanae hoi barinae teh kai koe kaawm e naw doeh. Kangning e tawntanae hoi lannae doeh.
Riches and honor are with me, yea, enduring wealth and righteousness.
19 Kaie a paw teh sui hlak hai ahawihnawn. Bokheiyah, sui kathoung hlak hai ahawihnawn. Hahoi ka hmu e hnopai teh, kahawi e ngun hlak hai ahawihnawn.
My fruit is better than gold, and than fine gold; and my products, than choice silver.
20 Lannae hoi kângingnae lamthung lungui vah ka cei.
On the road of righteousness do I walk firmly, in the midst the paths of justice:
21 Hottelah, kai lungpataw naw koe hnopai tabu dawk, hno akawi nahanlah hnopai ka coe sak han.
That I may cause those that love me to inherit a lasting possession; and their treasures will I fill
22 BAWIPA ni a kamtawng lahun nahoi, ayan e thaw a tawk hoehnahlan vah, yo na tawn toe.
The Lord created me as the beginning of his way, the first of his works from the commencement,
23 Talai ao hoehnahlan hoi a kamtawng hoehnahlan vah, a yungyoe caksak lah ka o toe.
From eternity was I appointed chief, from the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth.
24 Kadungpoung e talî ao hoehnahlan hoi, tuinaw pueng a tâco hoehnahlan vah, yo ka tâco toe.
When there were yet no depths, was I brought forth; when there were yet no springs laden heavily with water.
25 Talai hoi vaiphu ao hoehnahlan, talai hoi ramnaw a sak hoehnahlan,
Before the mountains were yet sunk down, before the hills was I brought forth:
26 Montamnaw ao hoehnahlan vah, yo ka tâco toe.
While as yet he had not made the land and open fields, nor the chief of the dust of the world.
27 Kalvannaw a rakueng lahun navah, yo ka o toe. Kadungpoung e talî dawk e kâheinae a sak navah,
When he prepared the heavens, I was there; when he drew a circle over the face of the deep;
28 Kalvan e tâmai a yam sak navah, kadungpoung e talî, ka lawng e palang, tha a poe navah,
When he fastened the skies above; when the springs of the deep became strong;
29 Tui ni a kâpoelawk a ek hoeh nahanlah, talîpui hanelah a langri a khuen pouh navah, talai du a ung navah,
When he assigned to the sea his decree, that the waters should not transgress his order: when he established firmly the foundations of the earth:
30 Kai teh kawk e capa patetlah ama koe ka o teh, pout laipalah ama lung kahawi sakkung lah ka o. A hmalah ka konawm.
Then was I near him, as a nursling: and I was day by day [his] delights, playing before him at all times;
31 O nahanelah a sak e talai ni, ka konawm sak, taminaw ni ka ko hoe a nawm sak.
Playing in the world, his earth; and having my delights with the sons of men.
32 Hatdawkvah, ka canaw, atu ka lawk thai awh haw. Bangkongtetpawiteh, ka lamthung kadawnnaw teh tami yaw kahawi e lah ao awh.
And now, O children [of men], hearken unto me! for happy those that observe my ways.
33 Cangkhainae heh thai awh nateh, lungang awh haw, banglah noutna laipalah awm hanh awh.
Hear correction, and be wise, and reject it not.
34 Hnin tangkuem kaie longkha koehoi na ring teh, takhang koehoi na ngaihawi. Ka lawk ka ngâi e teh, tami yaw kahawi e doeh.
Happy is the man that hearkeneth unto me, watching day by day at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
35 Bangkongtetpawiteh, kai na kahmawt e pueng teh hringnae ka hmawt e lah ao. BAWIPA ni ngaikhainae hai ouk a hmu awh.
For he who findeth me findeth life, and he obtaineth favor from the Lord.
36 Hatei, kai dawk yonnae kasaknaw ni amae hringnae a raphoe teh, na ka maithoe e pueng teh duenae ka lungpataw naw doeh.
But he that sinneth against me doth violence to his own soul: all those that hate me love death.
