< Cingthuilawk 3 >
1 Ka capa, kaie kâlawk hah pahnim hanh. Kaie kâpoelawknaw hah na lung dawk pâkuemh.
My son, don’t forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,
for they will add to you length of days, years of life, and peace.
Don’t let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Hottelah Cathut hoi tami hmalah, minhmai kahawi na hmu vaiteh, tawmrasang lah na o han.
So you will find favour, and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5 Na lungthin buem hoi BAWIPA kâuep nateh, nama e thaipanueknae hah kângue hanh.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding.
6 Na lamthung pueng dawk ama na panuek haw, na lamthung pueng dawk na hrawi han.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
7 Namahoima lungkaang lah kâsak hanh. BAWIPA hah taket nateh yon cettakhaih.
Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones.
9 Na tawnta e naw hoi aluepawnaw hoi BAWIPA hah bari haw.
Honour the LORD with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase;
10 Hahoi na capai dawk a kawi vaiteh, misur katinnae tangkom dawk misur katha hoi a kawi han.
so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
11 Ka capa, BAWIPA yuenae hah dudam hanh. Na phep e hai hmuhma hanh.
My son, don’t despise the LORD’s discipline, neither be weary of his correction;
12 Bangkongtetpawiteh, na pa ni a lungpataw e capa teh ouk a yue e patetlah, BAWIPA ni a lungpataw e naw hah ouk a yue.
for whom the LORD loves, he corrects, even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights.
13 Lungmanae kahmawtnaw teh a lung kahawi e tami lah ao awh teh, Thaipanueknae ka tawn e tami hai a lung kahawi e tami lah ao.
Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.
14 Bangkongtetpawiteh, ngun pungdaw sak e hlak, lungmanae pungdaw sak e hah ahawihnawn.
For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold.
She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.
16 Aranglae kut dawk hringsawnae ao teh, avoilah e kut dawk hnopai hoi barinae ao.
Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honour.
17 A lamthung teh lamthung kanawm lah ao teh, a lamthung pueng teh roumnae lah ao awh.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are peace.
18 Kakuennaw hanelah hringnae thingkung lah ao teh, ka hringkhaie pueng teh tami lung kahawi e lah ao awh.
She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her. Happy is everyone who retains her.
19 BAWIPA ni lungangnae lahoi talai hah a kangdue sak teh, thaipanueknae lahoi kalvan a cak sak.
By wisdom the LORD founded the earth. By understanding, he established the heavens.
20 A panuenae lahoi talî a kapek teh, tâmai ni tadamtui a bo sak.
By his knowledge, the depths were broken up, and the skies drop down the dew.
21 Ka capa, lungangnae katang hoi panuethainae hah kuen nateh, na mit hoi kâhlat sak hanh.
My son, let them not depart from your eyes. Keep sound wisdom and discretion,
so they will be life to your soul, and grace for your neck.
23 Hottelah na lamthung dawk karoumcalah na cet vaiteh, na khok na kamthui mahoeh.
Then you shall walk in your way securely. Your foot won’t stumble.
24 Na i navah na taket mahoeh, ihmu katuilah na i han.
When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.
25 Taki ka tho e kaluekalapnae hai taket hanh. Hoehpawiteh, tamikathoutnaw ni a kâhmo awh e runae hai taket hanh.
Don’t be afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes;
26 Bangkongtetpawiteh, BAWIPA teh na kânguenae lah awm vaiteh, na khok teh karap dawk hoi a hlout sak han.
for the LORD will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being taken.
27 Sak nahane kâ na kut dawk ao nahlangva, hmu hanelah kakamcunaw hah hnokahawi pasoung laipalah awm hanh.
Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.
28 Poe hane na sin nahlangva, cet ei, bout tho lah a, tangtho torei na poe han, telah na imri koe tet pouh hanh.
Don’t say to your neighbour, “Go, and come again; tomorrow I will give it to you,” when you have it by you.
29 Na imri taranlahoi thoenae sak hanelah kâcai hanh. Bangkongtetpawiteh, nang na ka ring e doeh.
Don’t devise evil against your neighbour, since he dwells securely by you.
30 Nang dawk patawnae na poe hoeh pawiteh, a khuekhaw awm laipalah tami taran hanh.
Don’t strive with a man without cause, if he has done you no harm.
31 Tami rep kacoungroenaw e hnopai noe awh hanh. Ahnimae lamthung hai rawi awh hanh.
Don’t envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways.
32 Bangkongtetpawiteh, a lungthin ka longkawi e teh BAWIPA hanelah panuet a tho teh, a lungthin kalan e teh, ama hoi arulahoi kâponae ao.
For the perverse is an abomination to the LORD, but his friendship is with the upright.
33 Tamikathoutnaw e im dawk, BAWIPA thoebonae ao, hatei, tamikalannaw e im teh, yawhawi a poe.
The LORD’s curse is in the house of the wicked, but he blesses the habitation of the righteous.
34 Dudam lahoi kaawmnaw hah a dudam teh, ka kârahnoumnaw hah pahrennae a poe.
Surely he mocks the mockers, but he gives grace to the humble.
The wise will inherit glory, but shame will be the promotion of fools.
