False balances are an abomination before the Lord: but a just weight is acceptable to him.
2 Kâoup navah yeiraiponae ao teh, kârahnoum navah lungangnae ao.
Wherever pride enters, there will be also disgrace: but the mouth of the lowly meditates wisdom.
3 Tamikalan teh yuemkamcunae ni a hrawi han, hatei, yuemkamcu hoeh e khopouknae niteh amamouh a raphoe han.
When a just man dies he leaves regret: but the destruction of the ungodly is speedy, and causes joy.
4 Lungkhueknae tueng navah hnopai teh cungkeihoeh, hatei lannae ni teh duenae koehoi a rungngang han.
[Possessions will not profit in a day of wrath, but righteousness will deliver from death. ]
5 Lannae ni teh toun kaawm hoeh e naw hah lam kalan a pâtue han, hatei, tamikathoutnaw teh thoenae dawk letlang a rawp awh han.
Righteousness traces out blameless paths: but ungodliness encounters unjust dealing.
6 Tamikalannaw teh lannae ni a rungngang awh han, hatei, yuemkamcu hoeh e naw teh amamae ngainae dawk a kâman awh han.
The righteousness of upright men delivers them: but transgressors are caught in their own destruction.
7 Tamikathoutnaw a due awh toteh a ngaihawi awh e puenghai a kahma vaiteh, tamikalanhoehnaw e ngaihawinae puenghai a kahma han.
At the death of a just man his hope does not perish: but the boast of the ungodly perishes.
8 Tamikalan teh runae thung hoi a hlout vaiteh, hote runae teh tamikathoutnaw ni a pang awh han.
A righteous man escapes from a snare, and the ungodly man is delivered up in his place.
9 Cathut ka taket hoeh e niteh, a pahni hoi a imri ouk a raphoe, hatei, tamikalan teh thoumthainae lahoi rungngang lah ao han.
In the mouth of ungodly men is a snare to citizens: but the understanding of righteous men is prosperous.
10 Tamikalan ni hawinae a coe navah khobuem a konawm awh, hatei, tamikathout a due toteh a lunghawi awh.
In the prosperity of righteous men a city prospers: but by the mouth of ungodly men it is overthrown.
11 Tamikalan ni yawhawi a coe navah khopui hai tawmrasang lah a o, hatei, tamikathoutnaw e pahni ni teh ouk a raphoe.
[At the blessing of the upright a city shall be exalted. ]
12 Lungangnae ka vout e tami ni teh a imri hah ouk a dudam, hatei, thaipanueknae ka tawn e teh duem ao.
A man void of understanding sneers at [his fellow] citizens: but a sensible man is quiet.
13 Yuengyoe ka pai ni teh lawk kapap e tami ni hrolawk hah ouk a pâpho, hatei, yuemkamcu e ni teh ouk a hro.
A double-tongued man discloses the [secret] counsels of an assembly: but he that is faithful in spirit conceals matters.
14 Pouknae kahawi poenae a ohoehnae koe khocanaw ouk a kahma teh, pouknae kahawi poenae apapnae koe teh khocanaw roumnae a coe awh.
They that have no guidance fall like leaves: but in much counsel there is safety.
15 Panue hoeh e tami panuesaknae teh a khang han, hatei, lawkpanuesaknae dawk kut tambeinae ka ngai hoeh e teh a hlout han.
A bad man does harm wherever he meets a just man: and he hates the sound of safety.
16 Pahrennae ka tawn e napui ni barinae a coe, hatei, a thakasai e tongpa ni teh tawntanae a coe.
A gracious wife brings glory to her husband: but a woman hating righteousness is a theme of dishonour. The slothful come to lack: but the diligent support themselves with wealth.
17 Pahrennae ka tawn e tami ni a hringnae han lah hnokahawi a sak, hatei, tamikathout teh a takthai hanelah runae kapoekung doeh.
A merciful man does good to his own soul: but the merciless destroys his own body.
18 Tamikathout ni dumnae phu ouk a hmu awh, hatei, lannae cati katukkungnaw ni tawkphu katang teh a coe awh han.
An ungodly man performs unrighteous works: but the seed of the righteous is a reward of truth.
19 Lannae ni hringnae lamthung dawk tami a hrawi e patetlah, thoenae ka sak e ni ouk a duekhai.
A righteous son is born for life: but the persecution of the ungodly [ends] in death.
20 Lungthin ka longkawi e teh BAWIPA hanelah panuet a tho, hatei, tamikalan kakuepcingnaw e hringnae teh amamouh letlang lunghawinae doeh.
Perverse ways are an abomination to the Lord: but all they that are blameless in their ways are acceptable to him.
21 Lungkânging lah ao awh nakunghai, tamikathout teh rek laipalah awm mahoeh. Hatei, tamikalannaw e canaw teh hloutsak lah ao han.
He that unjustly strikes hands shall not be unpunished: but he that sows righteousness he shall receive a faithful reward.
22 A meihawi eiteh pouknae ka tawn hoeh e napui teh, vok hnawng dawk suikuthrawt bang pouh e patetlah doeh ao.
As an ornament in a swine's snout, so is beauty to an ill-minded women.
23 Tamikalan ni ngainae teh hawinae dueng doeh, hatei, tamikathout ni a ring e teh lungkhueknae dueng doeh.
All the desire of the righteous is good: but the hope of the ungodly shall perish.
24 Thouk ka poe e teh, thouk a tawnta, hatei moikapap a pâkhueng eiteh, ka mathoe e tami hai ao.
There are [some] who scatter their own, and make it more: and there are [some] also who gather, [yet] have less.
25 Hring ka pasoung e teh tawnta sak lah ao han. Ayâ tui ka awi e teh ama hai tui awi lah ao han.
Every sincere soul is blessed: but a passionate man is not graceful.
26 Cakang ka haw e tami teh ayâ ni thoe a bo han. hatei, kayawtkung koe teh yawhawinae ao han.
May he that hoards corn leave it to the nation: but blessing be on the head of him that gives [it].
27 Hawinae ka tawng katang e ni barinae a coe han. hatei, thoenae ka tawng koe teh runae a pha han.
He that devises good [counsels] seeks good favour: but [as for] him that seeks after evil, [evil] shall overtake him.
28 Hnopai kâuep e teh a rawp han, hatei tamikalan teh phokung patetlah dikhring han.
He that trusts in wealth shall fall; but he that helps righteous men shall rise.
29 Ma e imthung runae ka poe e ni a coe e râw teh kahlî lah ao vaiteh, tamipathu teh a lungkaangnaw koe san lah ao han.
He that deals not graciously with his own house shall inherit the wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise man.
30 Tamikalannaw e a paw teh hringnae thing paw lah ao teh, muitha ka man e teh tami a lungkaang e doeh.
Out of the fruit of righteousness grows a tree of life; but the souls of transgressors are cut off before their time.
31 Tamikalan patenghai talai van reknae khang pawiteh, cathutlaipa e hoi tamikayon teh banghloimaw hoe a khang han vai.
If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
