Then spake Yahweh unto Moses in the desert of Sinai in the tent of meeting, —on the first of the second month in the second year by their coming forth out of the land of Egypt saying:
2 Isarel tamihu pueng hah a miphun lahoi, a imthung lahoi, a min kâtarui lahoi tongpa pueng koung touk haw,
Reckon ye up the sum of all the assembly of the sons of Israel, by their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names, every male, by their polls;
3 kum 20 lathueng Isarelnaw thung dawk hoi taran ka tuk thai e naw pueng nang nama hoi Aron ni ahuhu lahoi koung na touk awh han.
from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war in Israel, —ye shall number them by their hosts, thou and Aaron;
4 Nang koe e miphunnaw pueng thung dawk hoi imthung kahrawikung buet touh koung ao awh han.
and with you, shall be one man for each tribe, —each man, head of his ancestral house, shall be.
5 Hetnaw heh nang koe kaawm hane tami minnaw doeh. Reuben dawk hoi Shedeur capa Elizur,
These, then, are the names of the men who shall stand with you, —Of Reuben, Elizur, son of Shedeur;
6 Simeon dawk hoi Zurishaddai capa Shelumiel,
Of Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;
7 Judah dawk hoi Amminadab capa Nahshon,
Of Judah, Nahshon, son of Amminadab;
8 Issakhar dawk hoi Zuar capa Nethanel,
Of Issachar, Nethanel, son of Zuar;
9 Zebulun dawk hoi Helon capa Eliab,
Of Zebulun, Eliab, son of Helon;
10 Joseph casak Ephraim dawk hoi Ammihud capa Elishama hoi, Manasseh dawk hoi Pedahzur capa Gamaliel,
Of the sons of Joseph, —Of Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud; Of Manasseh, Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur;
11 Benjamin dawk hoi Gideoni capa Abidan,
Of Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni;
12 Dan dawk hoi Ammishaddai capa Ahiezer,
Of Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;
13 Asher dawk hoi Okran capa Pagiel,
Of Asher, Pagiel, son of Ochran;
14 Gad dawk hoi Deuel capa Eliasaph,
Of Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel;
15 Naphtali dawk hoi Enan capa Ahira Enan seh, atipouh.
Of Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.
16 Hetnaw heh tamimaya thung dawk hoi rawi e a na mintoenaw miphun dawk hoi kahrawikung Isarel imthung kahrawikungnaw doeh.
These, are they who had been summoned by the assembly, being princes of the tribes of their fathers, —heads of the thousands of Israel.
17 Hot patetlah Mosi hoi Aron ni min a kaw e hetnaw heh a ceikhai awh.
So then Moses and Aaron took these men, who were distinguished by name;
18 Tamimaya hah thapa yung pahni, apasuek hnin vah koung a kamkhueng awh teh, a na pa hoi, imthungnaw hoi kakhekungnaw, khetsin lahoi yah, kum 20 lathueng pueng teh kakhekungnaw hah ama buet touh min lahoi a kaw awh.
all the assembly also, called they together on the first of the second month, —and they declared their pedigree according to their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names from twenty years old and upwards by their polls.
19 BAWIPA ni Mosi koe kâ a poe e patetlah Sinai kahrawngum vah a touk awh.
As Yahweh commanded Moses, so he mustered them in the desert of Sinai.

And they were [as followeth] —The sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, in their pedigrees—by their families, by their ancestral houses, in the counting of names, by their polls, every male, from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;

such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Reuben, forty-six thousand and five hundred.
22 Simeon casak dawk hoi a miphun lahoi imthungkhu lahoi a min kâtarui e patetlah tongpa pueng kum 20 lathueng tarantuknae koe ka cet thai naw,
Of the sons of Simeon, in their pedigrees by their families by their ancestral houses, —such as were numbered of him, in the counting of names by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;

such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Simeon, fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.

The sons of Naphtali, in their pedigrees by their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names, from twenty years old, and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;

such as were numbered of them, as belonging to the tribe of Naphtali, fifty-three thousand, and four hundred.
44 Hotnaw teh Mosi hoi Aron ni Isarel kahrawikung hlaikahni imthung kahrawikungnaw hai a touk awh e doeh.
These, are they who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron and the twelve princes of Israel did number, the princes acting each one for his ancestral house.
45 Hot patetlah Isarel imthung abuemlahoi kum 20 lathueng taranruknae koe ka cet thai e naw pung Isarel lah koung a touk awh teh,
So then all they who were numbered of the sons of Israel by their ancestral houses, from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war in Israel;

so then all they who were numbered were six hundred and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

But the Levites by the tribe of their fathers were not numbered in their midst.
48 BAWIPA ni Mosi koevah,
For Yahweh spake unto Moses saying:
49 Levih miphun teh na touk mahoeh. Isarel taminaw lahai na touksin mahoeh.
Only the tribe of Levi, shalt thou not number, nor the sum of them, shalt thou reckon up, in the midst of the sons of Israel.
50 Bangkongtetpawiteh, Levihnaw teh lawkpanuesaknae lukkareiim hoi, hnopai khenyawnkung, haw e kaawm e naw pueng ka khenyawnkung lah na pouk awh han. Lukkareiim hoi a hnonaw pueng ka kâkayawt awh teh, ka khetyawt awh han. Bawknae rim a tengpam moi ao sin awh han.
But do, thou thyself, put the Levites in charge over the habitation of the testimony, and over all the furniture thereof and over all that pertaineth thereto, they, shall bear the habitation, and all the furniture thereof, and they, shall attend thereupon; and, round about the habitation, shall they encamp.
51 Hote bawknae rim teh a tâcokhai hanlah ao toteh, Levihnaw ni a raphoe vaiteh, hote rim bout a thung awh han. Tami alouke miphun bawk pawiteh thei lah ao han.
And, when the habitation is to set forward, the Levites shall take it down, and when the habitation is to be pitched, the Levites, shall set it up, but the stranger that draweth near, shall be put to death.
52 Isarelnaw ni amamouh o nah tangkuem koe ahuhu lahoi apap e lahoi lukkareiim teh a sak awh han.
So then the sons of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man, near his own camp, and, every man, near his own standard, by their hosts;
53 Levihnaw a pâlei teh, kamkhueng e Isarelnaw lathueng vah a lungkhueknae ao hoeh nahan, Cathut onae im a tengpam vah a roe awh vaiteh, Levihnaw ni lawkpanuesaknae bawknae im teh, a khetyawt awh han.
but the Levites, shall pitch their tents round about the habitation of the testimony, that there be no wrath upon the assembly of the sons of Israel, —so shall the Levites keep the watch of the habitation of the testimony.
54 Hot patetlah Isarelnaw ni BAWIPA ni Mosi koe kâ a poe e patetlah a sak awh.
Thus did the sons of Israel, —according to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so, did they.
