< Matthai 5 >

1 Hote tamihupui hah a hmu navah Bawipa teh mon lah a luen. A tahung navah, a hnukkâbangnaw ni rek a hnai awh.
Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
2 Hahoi, a kâko a ang teh a hnukkâbangnaw a cangkhai.
He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
3 Muitha koe lah ka mathoe e taminaw teh, a yawhawi awh, bangkongtetpawiteh, kalvan uknaeram teh ahnimae doeh.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
4 Ka khuikap e taminaw teh, a yawhawi awh, bangkongtetpawiteh, lungpahawi e lah ao awh han.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Lannae hah a von lah ka hlam e taminaw teh, a yawhawi awh.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.
7 Tami kapahrennaw teh, a yawhawi awh, bangkongtetpawiteh, pahren lah ao van han.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
8 A lung kathounge taminaw teh a yawhawi, bangkongtetpawiteh, Cathut a hmu awh han.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 Roumnae ka sak e taminaw teh a yawhawi awh, bangkongtetpawiteh, Cathut e canaw telah kaw lah ao awh han.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
10 Lannae kecu dawk rektap lah kaawm e taminaw teh a yawhawi awh, bangkongtetpawiteh, kalvan uknaeram teh ahnimae lah ao.
Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
“Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Na konawm awh. Puenghoi na lunghawi awh. Bangkongtetpawiteh, kalvan vah nangmae tawkphu kalenpoung ao. Hettelah doeh nangmouh hoehnahlan profetnaw hai a pacekpahlek awh.
Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13 Nangmouh teh talai e palawi lah na o awh. Palawi tie teh, a paannae kahmat pawiteh, a paannae hah bangtelah hoi maw bout hmu thai han toung. Tâkhawng hoi coungroe hane hloilah, banghai cungkeinae awm hoeh toe.
“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavour, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.
14 Nangmouh teh talaivan e angnae lah na o awh. Monsom kaawm e khopui teh bang ni hai ngue thai hoeh.
You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.
15 Hmai paang e hah apinihai tangthung hoi ramuk boihoeh. Im thung angnae a poe thai nahanelah, hmaiimkhok dawk doeh ouk pâhung awh.
Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.
16 Hot patetvanlah, nangmae angnae teh tami mithmu vah ang naseh.
Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
17 Kâlawk hoi Profet lawknaw raphoe hanelah kai teh ka tho telah pouk awh hanh. Raphoe hanelah ka tho hoeh, kuep sak hanelah doeh ka tho.
“Don’t think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 Atangcalah na dei pouh awh. Kalvan hoi talai a rawk hoehroukrak, kâlawk dawk e dekhrei e hoi calung buet touh boehai kuep laipalah awm mahoeh.
For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the Torah, until all things are accomplished.
19 Hatdawkvah, apipatet ni hai hete kâpoelawknaw dawk kathoengcae buet touh boehai a tapoe teh, hot patetvanlah, ayânaw hai cangkhai pawiteh, kalvan uknaeram thungvah kathoengcae lah ao han. Hatei, apipatet ni hai kâpoelawknaw hah a tarawi teh, hot patetvanlah, ayânaw hai cangkhai pawiteh, kalvan uknaeram thungvah ahni teh kalen lah ao han.
Therefore, whoever shall break one of these least commandments and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
20 Nangmouh koe na dei pouh awh. Nangmae lannae teh Farasinaw hoi cakathutkungnaw e lannae hah tapuet hoehpawiteh, kalvan uknaeram thung na kâen a mahoeh.
For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
21 Tami thet hanh. Apihai tami ka thet e teh, lawkcengnae a khang hanlah a kamcu tie kâlawk karuem teh na thai awh toe.
“You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ and ‘Whoever murders will be in danger of the judgement.’
22 Kaie kâlawk teh, apipatet hai a hmaunawngha koe a lung ka khuek e teh, sanhedrin lawkcengnae taki ka tho a khang han. Apipatethai a hmaunawngha thoe ka bo e teh, Hell hmai dawkvah hmaikaknae a khang hanlah a kamcu. (Geenna g1067)
But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be in danger of the judgement. Whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing!’ will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehinnom. (Geenna g1067)
“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,
24 na hmaunawngha hoi hmaloe kâmaihawi ei, hahoi torei na hnopai hah thuengnae bout sak.
leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Agree with your adversary quickly while you are with him on the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
26 Atangcalah na dei pouh: na laiba na patho hoehroukrak thongim hoi na tâcawt thai mahoeh.
Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there until you have paid the last penny.
27 Na uicuk mahoeh tie kâlawk karuem teh na thai awh toe.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery;’
28 Kaie kâlawk teh, uicuk ngainae lungthin hoi ayâ yu ka khen e tami teh, a lungthung vah hote napui coungkacoelah a yonkhai toe.
but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
(Geenna g1067)
If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehinnom. (Geenna g1067)
(Geenna g1067)
If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehinnom. (Geenna g1067)
31 Apihai a yu mat ngai pawiteh, yu manae ca poe seh tie kâlawk karuem teh ao toe.
“It was also said, ‘Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,’
32 Kaie kâlawk teh: Apihaiyah uicuknae laipalah, a yu ka mat e teh, a yu hah a yon sak. Hot dueng laipalah, ma lah kaawm e napui hah ka lat e tami hai bout a yon sak.
but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.
33 Laithoe hoi thoebo hanh. Cathut koe thoe na kâbo e teh cak seh, tie kâlawk karuem teh na thai awh toe.
“Again you have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,’
34 Kaie kâlawk teh, thoebonae khoeroe sak awh hanh. Kalvan noe lahoi thoebo awh hanh, hotteh Cathut e bawitungkhung doeh.
but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
35 Talai noe lahoi thoebo awh hanh. Talai teh Cathut khok toungnae doeh. Jerusalem noe lahoi thoebo awh hanh. Jerusalem teh Siangpahrang e khopui doeh.
nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
36 Na lû noe lahoi thoebo hanh. Na samrui buet touh boehai na pangaw sak thai hoeh. Na tamang sak thai hoeh.
Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.
37 Na lawk hah ue pawiteh ue, nahoeh pawiteh nahoeh tie lah awm nah nei. Hethloi e lawk teh kahawihoehe doeh a tâcokhai.
But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
38 Mit yueng lah mit, hâ yueng lah hâ tie kâlawk karuem teh na thai awh toe.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’
But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 Na angki na lawm awh pawiteh, na kâkhu e hah rek poe sin awh.
If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.
Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
42 Ka hete hah poe awh. Cawi han ka ngai e tami hah pâban hanh.
Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
43 Nama hoi kâkuen e tami hah nama patetlah lungpataw nateh, na taran hah hmuhma, tie kâlawk karuem teh na thai awh toe.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’
But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
45 Bangkongtetpawiteh kalvan kho kaawm nangmae na Pa ni tamikahawi hoi tamikahawihoeh e lathueng vah kanî a tâco sak. Tamikahawi hoi tamikahawihoeh lathueng vah kho a rak sak.
that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
46 Nangmouh lungpataw naw koe dueng na lungpataw awh pawiteh bangmaw tawkphu kaawm. Tamuk kacawngnaw ni patenghai yah hettelah ngoun teh a sak awh nahoehmaw.
For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
47 Kawibang koe dueng khetyawtnae na sak pawiteh bangmaw bet na tapuetnae kaawm vaw. Kayuemhoehnaw ni patenghai yah hettelah ngoun teh a sak a nahoehmaw.
If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
48 Hatdawkvah nangmae kalvanlae Na pa teh a kuep e patetlah nangmouh haiyah kuep van awh atipouh.
Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
