Then went out all the children of Israel, and the congregation was assembled together as one man, from Dan even to Beer-sheba', with the land of Gil'ad, unto the Lord in Mizpah.
2 Hahoi taminaw kahrawikungnaw hoi, Isarelnaw abuemlah Cathut taminaw a kamkhuengnae hmuen koe, koung a bawk awh. Tahloi ka patuem e ransaNaw 400000 touh a pha.
and there presented themselves the chiefs of all the people, of all the tribes of Israel, in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand men on foot that drew the sword.
3 Benjaminnaw ni, Isarelnaw hah, Mizpah vah a takhang awh tie a panue awh. Hahoi Isarelnaw ni bangkongmaw hettelah tailai thoenae hah khuet na sak awh vaw. Na dei pouh awh loe atipouh awh.
(And the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel were gone up to Mizpah.) And the children of Israel said, Speak, how did this wickedness take place?
4 Levih miphun, a yu a thei pouh e a vâ ni, Benjamin miphun onae Gibeah kho roe hanelah noe laihoi a kâen.
And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was murdered, answered and said, I came to Gib'ah that belongeth to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to stay one night,
5 Hahoi Gibeahnaw ni na cusin awh teh, karum vah kai kecu dawk im teh a ven awh. Thei han na noe awh ei, kai na thei yueng lah, ka yu ado a pacekpahlek awh teh, a due sak awh.
When the men of Gib'ah rose against me, and beset the house round about against me by night; me they intended to slay; and my concubine they humbled, so that she died.
6 Hottelah ka yu ado ro hah ka la teh, koung ka raban. Isarelnaw ao awh nah tangkuem koe koung ka patawn. Bangkongtetpawiteh, Isarel ram vah panuettho e hno hoi pathunae hno hah a sak awh.
And I took hold of my concubine and cut her in pieces, and sent her about throughout all the fields of the inheritance of Israel; for they had committed incest and scandal in Israel.
7 Nangmouh Isarelnaw abuemlahoi na pouknae hah ahawi na ti awh e patetlah dei awh haw telah ati.
Behold, ye are all here children of Israel: furnish for yourselves here advice and counsel.
8 Hahoi teh, tamimaya teh lungkânging lah a tahung awh teh, apihai mae im dawk kâen awh hanh. Apihai mae rim thung kâen awh hanh.
And all the people then arose as one man, saying, We will not go any of us to his tent, neither will we turn any of us into his house.
9 Hatei, Gibeahnaw tak dawk sak hane kong dawk teh cungpam rayu hoi tuk awh sei.
And now this shall be the thing which we will do to Gib'ah: We will go up against it by lot;
10 Isarelnaw tak dawk kamhnawngnae hno a sak awh dawkvah, Gibeahnaw tuk navah, taminaw hane rawca ka thak hanlah, Isarel miphunnaw thung dawk 100 touh dawk 10 touh, 1000 touh dawk 100 touh, 10,000 touh dawk 1,000 touh rawi awh sei telah ati awh.
And we will take ten men out of every hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred out of every thousand, and a thousand out of every ten thousand, to procure provisions for the people; that they may do, when they come to Gib'ah of Benjamin, in accordance with all the scandalous deed that they have wrought in Israel.
11 Hottelah hoi Isarelnaw pueng teh khopui tuk hanelah, lungthin buet touh lah a kamhluem awh.
So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, associated together as one man.
12 Hahoi, Isarel miphunnaw ni Benjamin miphunnaw pueng koe, nangmouh koe het patetlah e hno kaawm e heh, bang dawk na maw.
And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the divisions of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that hath been done among you?
13 Gibeah e tami kaponaw thokhai awh. Hot patetlah Isarel ram e yon pâmen nahanelah, ka thei awh han titeh, tami a patoun awh. Hatei, Benjamin miphunnaw ni a hmaunawngha Isarelnaw ni a dei e hah ngai awh hoeh.
Now therefore deliver up the men, those worthless people, who are in Gib'ah, that we may put them to death, and remove evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel.
14 Benjamin miphunnaw teh, Isarelnaw tuk hanlah khopui thung hoi a tâco awh teh, Gibeah vah a kâen awh.
And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities unto Gib'ah, to go out to battle with the children of Israel.
15 Hot hnin vah, Benjaminnaw tahloi ka patuem hoi, katâcawtnaw teh, Gibeah vah a rawi awh e tami 700 touh touksin laipalah, 26,000 touh a pha awh.
And at that time there were numbered of the children of Benjamin out of the cities twenty and six thousand men that drew the sword, beside the inhabitants of Gib'ah, who were numbered seven hundred chosen men.
16 Hotnaw hloilah, avoilah ka hno thai e tami 700 touh ao. Abuemlahoi pahlarui payang e thaw laipalah, talungdêikathoum e seng doeh.
Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men lame in the right hand: every one of these could sling a stone at a hair, and would not miss.
17 Isarelnaw teh Benjaminnaw touksin laipalah, tahloi ka patuem thai e 400000 touh a pha awh. Hotnaw pueng teh taran ka tuk thai e seng doeh.
And the men of Israel, beside Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew the sword: all these were men of war.
18 Isarelnaw ni a thaw awh teh, Bethel lah a takhang awh. Benjaminnaw hah apinimaw hmaloe a tuk han telah Cathut koe pouknae a pacei awh. BAWIPA ni Judahnaw hmahman naseh atipouh.
And they arose, and went up to Beth-el, and asked counsel of God; and the children of Israel said, Who of us shall go up at first to the battle with the children of Benjamin? And the Lord said, Judah, at first.

And the children of Israel rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gib'ah.
20 Isarelnaw teh Benjamin tuk hanlah a kamthaw awh teh Gibeah vah, a tuk awh.
And the men of Israel went out to battle with Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves in battle-array against them by Gib'ah.
21 Hahoi Benjaminnaw teh Gibeah hoi a tâco awh teh, hot hnin vah Isarelnaw 22,000 touh a thei awh.
And the Children of Benjamin came forth out of Gib'ah, and struck down to the ground of the Israelites on that day twenty and two thousand men.
22 Isarelnaw pueng ni tha a kâla awh teh, apasuek hnin kâtuknae hmuen koe, bout a kâtuk awh.
And the people the men of Israel took courage, and set themselves again in battle-array in the place where they had arrayed themselves on the first day.
23 (Hahoi Isarelnaw teh a takhang awh teh, Cathut hmalah tangmin totouh a khuika awh. Ka nawngha Benjaminnaw tuk hanlah bout kathâw awh han maw telah BAWIPA koe a pacei awh. BAWIPA ni bout tuk awh ati pouh).
And the children of Israel went up and wept before the Lord until the evening, and asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I again approach to battle with the children of Benjamin my brother? And the Lord said, Go up against him.
24 Apâhni hnin Isarelnaw ni Benjaminnaw hah a hnaisin awh.
And the children of Israel came near against the children of Benjamin on the second day.
25 Benjaminnaw hai apâhni hnin bout kâtuk hanlah Gibeah hoi a tâco awh. Isarelnaw hah 18,000 bout a thei awh. Hetnaw teh tahloi ka patuem seng doeh.
And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gib'ah on the second day, and struck down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men: all these were men that drew the sword.
26 Hottelah Isarelnaw teh a takhang awh teh, Bethel vah a cei awh teh, a khuika awh. BAWIPA hmalah a tahung awh teh, hat hnin teh, tangmin totouh rawca a hai awh. Hahoi BAWIPA koe hmaisawi thuengnae hoi roum thuengnae hah a poe awh.
Now all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto Beth-el, and wept, and sat there before the Lord, and fasted on that day until the evening, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before the Lord.
27 Isarelnaw ni BAWIPA koe pouknae a hei awh. ( Hatnae tueng dawk Cathut lawkkam thingkong teh haw vah a o).
And the children of Israel inquired of the Lord, (for there was the ark of the covenant of God in those days,

And Phinehas, the son of Elazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days, ) saying, shall I yet continue to go out to battle with the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I forbear? And the Lord said, Go up; for tomorrow will I deliver him into thy hand.

And Israel sent men to lie in wait round about Gib'ah.
30 Hahoi Isarelnaw teh Benjamin tuk hanlah apâthum a kamthaw awh teh, a hmoun e patetlah Gibeah kho tuk hanlah bout a kâcai awh.
And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and put themselves in array against Gib'ah, as at previous times.
31 Hahoi Benjaminnaw teh, tuk hanlah kho dawk hoi a tâco awh. Ahmoun e patetlah tuk vaiteh, thei han a kamtawng awh. Law hoi Bethel lah takhangnae koe Gibeah lam koevah, Isarelnaw 30 touh a thei awh.
And the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to smite some of the people, and kill, as at previous times, in the highways, of which one goeth up to Beth-el, and the other to Gib'ah in the field, about thirty men of Israel.
32 Benjaminnaw ni yampa e patetlah a sung awh toe ati awh. Isarelnaw ni yawng awh vaiteh, ahnimanaw hah khopui lamthung koe tâcawt sak sei telah ati awh.
And the children of Benjamin said, They are defeated before us, as at the first. But the children of Israel said, Let us flee, and draw them from the city unto the highways.
33 Hottelah Isarelnaw ni amamae hmuen hah a ceitakhai teh, Baaltamar hmuen koe a kamtue awh. Hahoi arulahoi ka pawm e Isarelnaw hah a pawpnae Geba hmuen koe a tâco awh.
And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Ba'al-thamar: and those that lay in wait of Israel rushed forth out of their place, out of the meadows of Gib'ah.
34 Isarelnaw thung dawk hoi rawi e 10000 touh hah Geba kho lahoi a tho teh, puenghoi a kâtuk awh. Hatei, Benjaminnaw ni a tak dawk rawknae a pha hane panuek awh hoeh.
And there came against Gib'ah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was severe; but they knew not that the evil was overtaking them.
35 BAWIPA ni, Benjaminnaw teh Isarelnaw hmalah, a tâ pouh. Hahoi Isarelnaw ni hot hnin dawk 25100 touh a thei awh. Hotnaw teh tahloi ka patuem seng doeh.
And the Lord smote Benjamin before Israel; and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites on that day twenty and five thousand and one hundred men: all these were those that drew the sword.
36 Hot patetlah Benjaminnaw ni a sung awh e hah a hmu awh. Isarelnaw ni Gibeah tuk hanlah arulahoi lampawp a ta awh e hah, a kâuep awh dawkvah, Benjaminnaw hah hnuklah a kâhnawn takhai awh e doeh.
And the children of Benjamin saw that they were defeated; for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because they trusted unto those that lay in wait whom they had set against Gib'ah.
37 Arulahoi kapawmnaw ni Gibeah kho dawk a saueng awh teh, a khoca pueng hah tahloi hoi koung thei awh.
And those in ambush hastened, and spread themselves over Gib'ah; and those that lay in wait moved along, and smote all the city with the edge of the sword.
38 Isarelnaw hoi lampawp katahungnaw lawk a kâkam awh e teh, a khopui hmai lah muengkhu sak hane doeh.
Now there was an understanding between the men of Israel and those that lay in wait, that they should make an abundance of columns of smoke rise up out of the city.
39 Hahoi Isarelnaw teh hnuklah bout a kâhnawn awh teh, Benjaminnaw ni a saueng awh. Isarelnaw 30 tabang a thei awh. Kâtuk pasueknae patetlah maimae hmalah a sung awh toe ati awh.
And when the men of Israel turned round in the battle, and Benjamin began to smite and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons; for they said, Surely they are entirely defeated before us, as in the first battle:
40 Hatei, khopui dawk hmaikhu a kangdue navah, Benjaminnaw teh a kamlang awh teh, khenhaw! khopui e hmaikhu teh kalvan lah a luen parai toe.
Then began the cloud to arise up out of the city as a pillar of smoke; and when the Benjamites looked behind them, behold, the flames of all the city were ascending up to heaven.
41 Hahoi Isarelnaw teh hnuklah a kamlang awh teh, Benjaminnaw ni runae a kâhmo awh toe tie a panue awh navah,
And when the men of Israel turned again, the men of Benjamin were amazed; for they saw that the evil had overtaken them.
42 Isarelnaw hmalah, kahrawng lah a yawng awh. Hatei, pou a pâlei awh. Hahoi, khopui thung hoi ka tâcawt e naw hah hawvah a thei awh.
Therefore they turned round before the men of Israel unto the way to the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and those who came out of the cities destroyed them in the midst of them.
43 Benjaminnaw teh he a kalup awh. A pâlei awh teh, kanîtholah Gibeah kho teng kâhatnae koe a pha awh teh, a katin awh.
They enclosed the Benjamites round about, chased them, they overtook them in their places of rest, as far as opposite to Gib'ah toward the rising of the sun.
44 Benjaminnaw teh tami 18000 touh a due awh. Abuemlahoi athakaawme taminaw hoi a tarankahawinaw seng doeh.
And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men: all these were men of valor.
45 Hahoi kaawm e naw ni, a ban awh teh, ramke lae Rimmon lungsong koe lah a yawng awh. Tami 5,000 touh teh lam vah hmawi a man awh. Gidom totouh pou a pâlei awh teh, tami 2,000 touh a thei awh.
And they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of Rimmon; and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men; and they pursued hard after them as far as Gid'om, and slew of them two thousand men.
46 Hottelah, hat hnin Benjaminnaw kadoutnaw pueng hah, tahloi ka patuem e 25,000 touh a pha. Abuemlah hoi athakaawme taminaw hoi a tarankahawinaw seng doeh.
So that all who fell on that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword: all these were men of valor.
47 Hatei, tami 600 touh teh, ram ka ke koelah, Rimmon lungsong koe a yawng awh teh, hawvah, thapa yung pali touh ao awh.
But six hundred men turned and fled into the wilderness unto the rock Rimmon, and they abode on the rock Rimmon four months.
48 Hahoi Isarelnaw niteh, Benjaminnaw koe bout a kamthaw awh teh, a khopui thung taminaw pueng hoi saring thoseh, a hmu awh e naw pueng hah tahloi hoi a thei awh. Hothloilah, kho a hmu awh e naw pueng hai hmai a sawi pouh awh.
And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beasts, and all that was found: also all the cities that they came upon did they set on fire.
