< Joshua 17 >
1 Joseph e a camin Manasseh ni cungpam a rayu awh teh, râw lah a coe awh e talai hateh, Manasseh e ca, Gilead e a na pa Makhir teh ransa lah ao dawk Gilead ram hoi Bashan ram a poe.
There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph; that is, for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.
2 Joseph e ca lah kaawm Manasseh capanaw teh Abiezer capa, Halek capa, Asriel capa, Shekhem capa, Hepher capa, Shemida capa, naw ni imthung lahoi cungpam bout a rayu awh.
There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these were the male offspring of Manasseh the son of Joseph by their families.
3 Hateiteh, Manasseh, Makhir, Gilead, Hepher naw dawk hoi ka tho e Zelophehad teh ca tongpa awm hoeh. Canu dueng doeh kaawm. Ahnie canunaw teh Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah, Tirzah doeh.
But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
4 Hote napuinaw teh, vaihma bawi Eleazar, Nun e capa Joshua, kahrawinaw e hmalah a tho teh, kaimouh hoi rei tâcawt e hoi cungtalah râw coe hane kâ hah kaimouh hoi na poe van hanelah, BAWIPA ni Mosi koe a dei pouh toe atipouh teh, BAWIPA ni a dei pouh e patetlah a na pa e hmaunawnghanaw hoi râw rei a coe awh hane kâ a poe.
And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.
5 Telah Manasseh e canunaw teh a capanaw hoi râw rei a coe awh teh,
And there fell ten portions to Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side of Jordan;
6 Manasseh e capa tangawn ni Gilead ram hah a coe dawkvah, Jordan palang kanîtholah, Gilead ram hoi Bashan ram hoi a louk Manasseh catounnaw ni 10 touh a coe awh rah.
Because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Manasseh’s sons had the land of Gilead.
7 Manasseh ram khori teh, Asher ram hoi Shekhem kho kanîtholah kaawm e Mikhmethat kho lah ka cet e aranglah, Entappuah kho lah a cei.
And the land of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, that lieth before Shechem; and the border went along on the right hand to the inhabitants of Entappuah.
8 Tappuah khori teh Manasseh a tawn e lah ao ei, Manasseh e khori teng kaawm e Tappuah kho teh Ephraim ni tawn e lah ao.
Now Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;
9 Hahoi khori teh, Kanah palang akalah a cei teh Manasseh kho dawkvah Ephraim kho tangawn ao eiteh, palang hoi atunglae talai teh Manasseh e talai lah ao teh, tuipui dawk a pout.
And the border descended to the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh: the border of Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the ends of it were at the sea:
10 Akalah Ephraim e talai, atunglah Manasseh e talai lah ao. Tuipui dawk a kâri teh, atunglah Asher ram, kanîtholah Issakhar ram ao.
Southward it was Ephraim’s, and northward it was Manasseh’s, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.
11 Hote ram dawkvah Manassehnaw ni a coe e ram kathum touh e teh, Bethshem kho hoi khotenaw, Ibleam kho hoi khotenaw, Dor kho hoi khotenaw dor kho hoi khotenaw, Endor kho hoi khotenaw, Taanakh kho hoi khotenaw, Megiddo kho hoi khotenaw, hah a coe sin awh rah.
And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Bethshean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, even three countries.
12 Hateiteh, Manasseh miphunnaw ni hote khonaw hah a pâlei thai hoeh dawkvah, Kanaannaw teh a tâ totouh hote hmuen koe ao awh.
Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
13 Isarelnaw teh a tha hoe a sai awh torei teh, Kanaannaw hah koung pâlei laipalah aphawng a rawng sak awh.
Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel had become strong, that they subjected the Canaanites to forced labour; but did not utterly drive them out.
And the children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me until now?
15 Joshua ni nangmanaw teh, miphun kalenpounge lah na o teh, Ephraim mon e ram bueng pawiteh ratu koe cet nateh, Periz ram, Refadimnaw e ram dawkvah o nahane lah sak awh atipouh.
And Joshua answered them, If thou art a great people, then go up to the forest, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim is too small for thee.
16 Joseph miphunnaw ni hai Ephraim mon teh kaimouh hanelah khout mahoeh. Tanghling e hmuen Bethshean khonaw dawk, Jezreel tanghling dawk, kaawm e Kanaan taminaw abuemlah, ni sumrangleng koung a tawn awh toe telah bout atipouh awh.
And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and its towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.
17 Joshua ni nangmanaw teh, miphun kalenpounge thakaawmpounge lah na o dawkvah, buet touh dueng hah na lat awh mahoeh.
And Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:
18 Mon hai nangmouh hanelah ao han. Ratu lah awm pawiteh na tâtueng han. Tâco nahan lamnaw hai nangmouh hanelah ao han. Kanaan taminaw teh a tha o awh teh sumrangleng ka tawn awh ni teh a tha kaawm awh nakunghai, ahnimanaw teh, na pâlei mingming han telah, Ephraim miphun, Manasseh miphun lah kaawm e Joseph phunnaw koe a dei pouh.
But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a forest, and thou shalt cut it down: and the borders of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they are strong.
