< Jonah 3 >

1 Jonah koe Cathut e lawk bout ka tho e teh,
The word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time, saying,
2 thaw nateh Nineveh kholah cet loe, lawk na thui e patetlah hramkhai loe telah atipouh.
"Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and proclaim to it the message that I give you."
3 Hatnavah, Jonah teh Cathut ni kâ a poe e patetlah a thaw teh Nineveh kho lah a cei. Nineveh kho teh khopui lah ao dawkvah hnin thum touh lamcei akaw.
So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, three days' journey across.
4 Jonah ni khothung a kâen teh, hnin touh lam a cei teh, hnin rui pali touh aloum hnukkhu Nineveh khopui teh a rawk han toe telah a pathang.
Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried out, and said, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown."
5 Nineveh khothung e taminaw ni Cathut e lawk a yuem awh teh, tami kacue kanaw abuemlah rawcahai nahane atueng a pathang awh teh buri a kâkhu awh.
The people of Nineveh believed God; and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
6 Nineveh siangpahrang ni hote kamthang a thai navah a bawi tungkhung dawk hoi a thaw teh, a puengcang a kârading hnukkhu, buri a kâkhu teh vaiphu dawk a tahung.
The news reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and took off his royal robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
7 Tami hoi saringnaw abuemlah sairasuep lah awmseh. Rawca cat sak awh hanh. Tui hai net sak awh hanh.
He made a proclamation and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, "Let neither man nor animal, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water;
8 Taminaw hoi saringnaw teh buri kâkhu awh naseh. Cathut koe lungthin katang hoi ratoum awh naseh. Tami tangkuem amamouh ni a dawn awh e rawknae lamthung hno kahawihoehe a sak awh e roun awh naseh.
but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and animal, and let them cry mightily to God. Yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way, and from the violence that is in his hands.
9 Maimanaw teh rawknae dawk hoi hlout awh nahanelah, Cathut a lungkâthung teh puenghoi a lungkhueknae hah a roum thai hoi a roum thai hoeh e hah apinimaw a dei thai a titeh, siangpahrang hoi bawinaw e kâ lahoi Nineveh khopui thung a pathang sak.
Who knows whether God will not turn and relent, and turn away from his fierce anger, so that we might not perish?"
10 Khocanaw ni amamouh ni a dawn awh e kahawihoehe lamthung a roun awh teh, a tawksak awh e naw hah Cathut ni a hmu navah ahmaloe pakhinae runae hah ahnimouh koe phat sak hoeh.
God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. God relented of the disaster which he said he would do to them, and he did not do it.
