1 Judah tami, kahrawikung lah kaawm e Nikodemus tie Farasi tami buet touh ao.
And there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
This man came to him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou hast come as a teacher from God; for no one can do these signs which thou doest, unless God be with him.
3 Jisuh ni atangcalah ka dei, apihai apâhni khekatha hoehpawiteh, Cathut uknaeram hmawt thai mahoeh atipouh.
Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nikodemus ni hai matawng ni bangtelamaw apâhni lah maw a manu vonthung bout a kâen vaiteh, bout a khe han vaw atipouh.
Nicodemus saith to him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother's womb a second time, and be born?
Jesus answered, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.
6 Takthai ni a khe e teh takthai doeh, Muitha ni a khe e teh muitha doeh.
That which is born of the flesh, is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit.
7 Khe katha lah o han ka ti dawk na kâ ngai ru sak hanh.
Marvel not that I said to thee, Ye must be born again.
8 Kahlî teh ama ngai e patetlah doeh a tho, kahlî tho lawk na thai ei, nâ lahoi maw a tho teh nâ lah maw a cei tie panuek thai hoeh. Hottelah doeh Muitha ni a khe e teh ao atipouh.
The wind bloweth where it will; and thou hearest the sound thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nikodemus nihai, hete hno heh bangtelah hoi maw a coung thai han atipouh.
Nicodemus answered and said to him, How can these things be?
Jesus answered and said to him, Art thou the teacher of Israel, and understandest not these things?
Truly, truly do I say to thee, We speak that which we know, and testify that which we have seen; and ye receive not our testimony.
If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how will ye believe if I tell you heavenly things?
And no one hath ascended into heaven, but he who came down from heaven, even the Son of man.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up
15 A Capa ka yuem e naw pueng teh rawk laipalah yungyoe hringnae a tawn nahane doeh. (aiōnios g166)
that every one who believeth in him may have everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
16 Cathut ni a Capa tawntoe e pasoung ditouh talaivan a lungpataw. Capa ka yuem e tami pueng teh rawk laipalah a yungyoe hringnae a tawn awh nahane doeh. (aiōnios g166)
For God so loved the world, that he gave the only begotten Son, that every one who believeth in him may not perish, but may have everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
17 Bangkongtetpawiteh Cathut ni talaivan taminaw lawkceng hanelah Capa heh patoun hoeh, talai taminaw rungngang hanlah doeh a patoun.
For God sent not the Son into the world to condemn the world, but that through him the world might be saved.
Kayuemhoehnaw teh Cathut Capa tawntoe e min a yuem awh hoe dawkvah atu hai lawkceng lah ao toe.
He that believeth in him is not condemned; he that believeth not hath already been condemned, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 Lawkceng lah a onae teh, angnae teh talaivan a pha ei, taminaw ni kahawihoehe hno hoe a sak awh dawkvah, angnae hlak hmonae hah hoe a ngai awh.
And this is the condemnation, that the light hath come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil.
20 Kathout hno ka sak e naw ni angnae hah a maithoe awh teh, thoe a saknae a kamnue hoeh nahanelah angnae koe tho hane ngai awh hoeh.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 Lawkkatang ka tarawi e tami teh, amae a tarawinae hah Cathut e ngainae hoi a kânging tie a kamnue thai nahanlah angnae koe a tho telah a dei.
But he that doeth the truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
22 Hahoi, Jisuh hoi a hnukkâbangnaw teh Judah ram lah a cei awh, hawvah a hnukkâbangnaw hoi baptisma a poe awh.
After these things Jesus and his disciples came into the land of Judaea; and there he remained with them, and baptized.
23 Jawhan hai Salim kho teng Aenon vah tui apap dawkvah, baptisma a poenae koe taminaw ni a tho teh baptisma a coe awh.
And John also was baptizing in AEnon, near Salim, because there was much water there; and they came, and were baptized.
24 Hatnavah Jawhan thongim thung phat hoe rah.
For John was not yet thrown into prison.
25 Jawhan e a hnukkâbangnaw teh tui hoi kamthoungnae kong dawk Judahnaw hoi a kâoun awh.
Then there arose a question on the part of John's disciples with a Jew about purifying.
26 Hatdawkvah Jawhan koe a tho awh teh, Bawipa Jordan tui namran vah nang hoi rei kaawm ni teh akong na kampangkhai e tami ni tui dawk baptisma a poe teh taminaw pueng ahni koe a tho awh atipouh awh.
And they came to John, and said to him, Rabbi, he who was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou hast borne witness, behold, he baptizeth, and all men are going to him.
27 Jawhan ni Kalvan lahoi poe hoehpawiteh, tami ni banghai tet thai mahoeh.
John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, unless it be given him from heaven.
28 Kai teh Khrih nahoeh, ahnie hmalah patoun lah kaawm e doeh tie hah nangmouh teh kapanuekkhaikung lah na o awh.
Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I was sent before that man.
29 Vâ ka sak e tangla teh yupaluenkung thoundoun e lah doeh ao toe. Yupaluenkung thoundoun e lawk ka thai e a hui ni yupaluenkung e a lawk a thai nah puenghoi a konawm. Hot patetvanlah kaie lunghawinae hai a kuep.
He that hath the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. This my joy then hath become full.
30 Ahni teh roung vai, kai teh ka kumcathuk han.
He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 Lathueng lahoi ka tho e teh bangpueng e lathueng lah ao. Talai lahoi ka tho e teh talai hoi a kâkuet dawkvah, talai kong a dei. Kalvan hoi ka tho e teh bangpueng e lathueng lah ao.
He that cometh from above is above all. He that is from the earth is earthly, and speaketh earthly things; he that cometh from heaven
32 Ahni ni a hmu hoi a thai e hah kampangkhai ei, apinihai ahnie kampangkhainae teh tang awh hoeh.
testifieth what he hath seen and heard; and no one receiveth his testimony.
33 Apihai ahnie kampangkhainae ka dâw e teh Cathut katang doeh tie hoe a panue cai.
He that hath received his testimony hath set his seal that God is true.
34 Cathut ni patoun e ni teh Cathut e lawk doeh a dei. Bangkongtetpawiteh ahni koe Cathut ni Muitha pout laipalah a poe.
For he whom God sent speaketh the words of God; for he giveth not the Spirit by measure.
35 Apa ni Capa lungpataw dawkvah, hnocawngca pueng teh Capa kut dawk a poe toe.
The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
36 Capa ka yuem e teh yungyoe hringnae a tawn. Hatei, Capa ka ek e teh hringnae a hmu hoeh e dueng laipalah, Cathut lungkhueknae ahni dawk vah ao telah Jawhan ni a ti. (aiōnios g166)
He that believeth in the Son hath everlasting life; and he that disobeyeth the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. (aiōnios g166)
