< Job 8 >
1 Shuhi tami Bildad ni a pathung teh,
And Bildad the Shuhite answers and says:
2 Nâsittouh maw he e hnonaw heh dei han, na pahni dawk hoi ka tâcawt e lawk hah athakaawme kahlî patetlah ao han.
“Until when do you speak these things? And a strong wind—sayings of your mouth?
3 Cathut ni kalan hoeh lah lawk a ceng boimaw, nahoeh pawiteh, Athakasaipounge ni, lannae a kamlang takhai boimaw.
Does God pervert judgment? And does the Mighty One pervert justice?
4 Na capanaw ni ama taranlahoi yon awh pawiteh, kâtapoenae kecu dawk a tâkhawng han.
If your sons have sinned before Him, And He sends them away, By the hand of their transgression,
5 Cathut hah atangcalah hoi, na tawng teh, Athakasaipounge koevah, kâheinae na sak pawiteh,
If you seek for God early, And make supplication to the Mighty,
6 Tamikathoung tamikalan lah na awm pawiteh, nang hanelah atu roeroe thaw vaiteh, lanae hmuen koe hawinae na coe sak han.
If you [are] pure and upright, Surely now He wakes for you, And has completed The habitation of your righteousness.
7 Na kamtawngnae a thoung nakunghai, na poutnae a len katang han.
And your beginning has been small, And your latter end is very great.
8 Bangkongtetpawiteh, pahrennae hoi a yan e hnonaw hah pakhingpalang haw, na mintoenaw ni a hmu e hnonaw hah pouk haw.
For inquire, please, of a former generation, And prepare for a search of their fathers,
9 Bangkongtetpawiteh, paduem e tami la o awh teh, banghai panuek awh hoeh. Bangdawk tetpawiteh, talai van e hnin tha naw teh, tâhlip patetlah doeh ao.
For we [are] of yesterday, and we do not know, For our days [are] a shadow on earth.
10 Ahnimae lungthin thung hoi ka tâcawt e lawknaw ni, na dei pouh awh teh, na cangkhai hoeh namaw.
Do they not show you—speak to you, And from their heart bring forth words?
11 Tuinawk laipalah lungpum a roung thai han namaw. Tui laipalah capi teh a roung thai han namaw.
Does a rush rise without a marsh? A reed increase without water?
12 A hring nah tâtueng hoeh nakunghai, alouke akungnaw hlak palang a kamyai.
While it [is] in its budding—uncropped, Even before any herb it withers.
13 Cathut kapahnimnaw e a lamthung teh, hot patetlah ao. Tami kahawihoehnaw e ngaihawinae teh a kahma han.
So [are] the paths of all forgetting God, And the hope of the profane perishes,
14 A kâuepkhai awh e teh, tâkhawng pouh lah ao han, a kâuepkhainae teh, Bombarui patetlah doeh ao.
Whose confidence is loathsome, And the house of a spider his trust.
15 A im dawk a kamngawi ei kangdout thai hoeh. Kacakcalah a kuet ei pou cak thai ma hoeh.
He leans on his house—and it does not stand, He takes hold on it—and it does not abide.
16 Khobetnae koe dikkahringcala a roung teh, a kangnaw ni takha koung tahloi awh.
He [is] green before the sun, And over his garden his branch goes out.
17 A tangpha ni talung khakdeng teh, talung um vah a tangpha a payang nahane a tawng.
His roots are wrapped by a heap, He looks for a house of stones.
18 Amae hmuen koehoi phawk lah ao torei teh, pou kacak mahoeh, telah a kâpahnawt han.
If [one] destroys him from his place, Then it has feigned concerning him, I have not seen you!
19 Khenhaw! het hateh, lunghawinae lamthung lah a o, talai dawk hoi aloukenaw hah a pâw han.
Behold, this [is] the joy of His way, And from the dust others spring up.
20 Khenhaw! Cathut ni toun han kaawm hoeh e na tâkhawng hoeh vaiteh, thoe ka sak e teh kangdout sak mahoeh.
Behold, God does not reject the perfect, Nor takes hold on the hand of evildoers.
21 Na kâko teh panuinae hoi akawi sak vaiteh, na pahni hai lunghawinae lawk hoi akawi sak han.
While He fills your mouth with laughter, And your lips with shouting,
22 Nang kahmuhmanaw hah yeiraipo sak vaiteh, tamikathoutnaw e rim teh awm mahoeh toe telah a ti.
Those hating you put on shame, And the tent of the wicked is not!”
