< Job 21 >
1 Hahoi Job ni a pathung teh,
And Job answers and says:
2 Ka lawk he kahawicalah na thai pouh haw, Hetheh nangmouh lungmawng nahanelah awmseh.
“Hear my word diligently, And this is your consolation.
Bear with me, and I speak, And after my speaking—you may deride.
4 Ka phuenangnae heh tami tarannae lah maw ao. Hottelah awm pawiteh, bang kecu dawk maw, ka lung a saw thai hoeh.
[Is] my complaint [against] man? And if [so], why may my temper not become short?
5 Na khen awh haw, kângairu awh naseh. Na pahni hah tabuem awh.
Turn to me, and be astonished, And put hand to mouth.
Indeed, if I have remembered, then I have been troubled. And my flesh has taken fright.
7 Bang kecu dawk maw tamikathoutnaw ni a matawng totouh a hring awh teh, thaonae dawk bahu ao han vaw.
Why do the wicked live? They have become old, Indeed, they have been mighty in wealth.
8 A ca catounnaw hah amamae mithmu vah a kung acaksak awh, amamae miphun hah amamae hmalah acaksak awh.
Their seed is established, Before their face with them, And their offspring before their eyes.
9 A imnaw hah takinae thung hoi a hlout teh, Cathut e sonron hah ahnimae a lathueng bawt boihoeh.
Their houses [are] peace without fear, Nor [is] a rod of God on them.
10 Maitotan ni cati tu laipalah awm boihoeh. Maitomanu ni ca khe laipalah awm boihoeh.
His bullock breeds without fail. His cow brings forth safely, and does not miscarry.
11 Saringhu patetlah a canaw a tâco sak teh, a canaw teh a lam awh.
They send forth their sucklings as a flock, And their children skip,
12 Tamawi hoi ratoung kueng laihoi la a sak awh, Tamawi e a lawk dawk hoi a lunghawi awh.
They lift [themselves] up at timbrel and harp, And rejoice at the sound of a pipe.
13 Hringnawmnae hoi atueng aloum sak awh teh dongdengca dawk phuen vah a cei awh. (Sheol )
They wear out their days in good, And in a moment go down [to] Sheol. (Sheol )
And they say to God, Turn aside from us, And the knowledge of Your ways We have not desired.
15 Athakasaipounge, a thaw ka tawk pouh hane teh apimaw, Ama koe ka ratoum navah ahawinae bangmaw ka mek telah ati awh.
What [is] the Mighty One that we serve Him? And what do we profit when we meet with Him?
16 A tawn awh e hno hah amamae kut dawk kaawm e ka tang nahoeh, tami kathoutnaw khokhangnae teh, kaimouh koehoi kahlatpoung la ao.
Behold, their good [is] not in their hand (The counsel of the wicked Has been far from me).
17 Tamikathoutnaw e hmaiim teh, bangmaw atuhoitu a due teh, amamae rawkphainae teh, bangmaw atuhoitu a pha. Lungmathoenae hah Cathut ni a lungkhueknae dawk hoi lawk ouk a ceng boimaw
How often is the lamp of the wicked extinguished, And their calamity comes on them? He apportions pangs in His anger.
18 Kahlî dawk e cakong patetlah ao teh, kahlî ni palek e vaikong patetlah ao awh.
They are as straw before wind, And as chaff a windstorm has stolen away,
19 Cathut ni a canaw hanelah, payonpakai nahan a ta telah a ti. Panuethai awh nahanelah, ahnimouh teh ama ni patho naseh.
God lays up for his sons his sorrow, He gives repayment to him—and he knows.
20 A ronae hah a mit hoi hmawt sak awh, Athakasaipounge lungkhueknae manang hah net sak awh.
His own eyes see his destruction, And he drinks of the wrath of the Mighty.
21 Bangkongtetpawiteh, a thapa akuep totouh atueng baw sak lah o teh, ama a rawk hnukkhu hoi a im teh, banglahai tho hoeh.
For what [is] his delight in his house after him, And the number of his months cut off?
22 Karasang lah kaawm e hai lawkcengkung Cathut teh apinimaw panuenae a cangkhai thai han.
Does [one] teach knowledge to God, Since He judges [those] on high?
23 Lungmawngcalah hoi karoumcalah ao nah koe, tami buet touh a thao lahun nah a due.
This [one] dies in his perfect strength, Wholly at ease and quiet.
24 A sanunaw hai sanutui abuem awh teh, a hrunaw hai rakhing hoi akawi.
His breasts have been full of milk, And marrow moistens his bones.
25 Tami alouke buet touh, a nawmnae roeroe awm laipalah, lungmathoe nalaihoi a due.
And this [one] dies with a bitter soul, And has not eaten with gladness.
26 Vaiphu dawk reikâvan lah a i roi, tangraet ni muen a kayo.
Together they lie down on the dust, And the worm covers them over.
27 Khenhaw! na pouknae naw hah ka panue. Ka lan hoeh poung e kai dawk sak han na noe e hah ka panue.
Behold, I have known your thoughts, And the schemes against me you do wrongfully.
For you say, Where [is] the house of the noble? And where the tent—the dwelling places of the wicked?
Have you not asked those passing by the way? And do you not know their signs?
30 Tamikathoutnaw teh, lawkcengnae hnin hanelah pouk tangcoung e lah ao awh. Lungkhueknae hnin nah tâcokhai lah ao awh han, tie hah na panuek hoeh maw
That the wicked is spared to a day of calamity. They are brought to a day of wrath.
31 Apinimaw a hmaitung vah na lamthung hah hawihoeh atipouh han. Apinimaw a sak e hah a patho han.
Who declares his way to his face? And [for] that which he has done, Who gives repayment to him?
32 Hateiteh, phuen koe ceikhai lah ao teh, phuen hah meng kountouk hanelah ao.
And he is brought to the graves, And a watch is kept over the heap.
The clods of the valley have been sweet to him, And he draws every man after him, And there is no numbering before him.
34 Hottelah namamae pahni dawk laithoe pou ao lahun nah, bangtelamaw hrawnghrang lawk hoi lung khuet na pahawi thai awh han, telah a ti.
And how do you comfort me [with] vanity, And trespass has been left in your answers?”
