< Job 20 >

1 Hahoi Naamath tami Zophar ni a pathung teh,
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for [this] I make haste.
I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.
4 Ayan hoi talaivan tami ao totouh hoi,
Knowest thou [not] this of old, since man was placed upon earth,
5 tamikathoutnaw tânae tueng teh a duem. Cathut bang lah kangaihoehnaw e lunghawinae teh, dawngdengca doeh tie hah na panuek awh hoeh maw.
That the triumphing of the wicked [is] short, and the joy of the hypocrite [but] for a moment?
6 A kâoupnae hah kalvan totouh a pha teh, a lû ni tâmai hah ka phat nakunghai,
Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
7 A payungpaei patetlah a yungyoe kahmat vaiteh, ahni kahmawtnaw pueng ni na maw ao telah ati awh han.
[Yet] he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where [is] he?
8 Mang patetlah yout kahmat vaiteh, hmawt mahoeh toe. Karum e mang patetlah yout kahma e patetlah ao han.
He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
9 Ahni kahmawt e mit ni vah hmawt mahoeh toe. Hoeh pawiteh, hmuen ni hai kuen mahoeh toe.
The eye also [which] saw him shall [see him] no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
10 A canaw ni tami ka roedeng minhmai kahawi hah tawng awh vaiteh, a kut hoi hnopai hah bout a bankhai han.
His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
11 A hrunaw teh nawcanae thaonae hoi akawi han. Hateiteh, vaiphu dawk a ikhai han.
His bones are full [of the sin] of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.
12 A pahni dawk kahawihoehe a radip. A lai rahim vah a hro nakunghai,
Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, [though] he hide it under his tongue;
13 Pasoung laipalah a pâkuem. A kâko dawkvah a hro nakunghai,
[Though] he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:
14 A rawca teh, a vonthung vah a ui vaiteh, tahrunsue lah a kangcoung han.
[Yet] his meat in his bowels is turned, [it is] the gall of asps within him.
15 A tawnta e hnopai hah padoun vaiteh bout a palo han. Cathut ni a von thung hoi a tâkhawng pouh.
He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
16 Tahrun sue hah a pahap teh, tahrun lai ni a ma a thei han.
He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper’s tongue shall slay him.
17 Kalawng e palang, khoitui hoi maito sanutui kamkak vaiteh, ka lawng e hmawt mahoeh.
He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.
That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow [it] down: according to [his] substance [shall] the restitution [be], and he shall not rejoice [therein].
19 Karoenaw hah a ceitakhai hoi, a coungroe teh, Ama ni a sak hoeh e im hah a lawp.
Because he hath oppressed [and] hath forsaken the poor; [because] he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;
20 A lung thung hoi roumnae hah a panue hoeh dawk. A ngai e hno buet touh boehai cawi mahoeh.
Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.
21 A ca hanelah a pek e banghai awm hoeh. Hatdawkvah a nawmnae ni kasaw awm mahoeh.
There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.
22 A nawm lahun nah kângairu vaiteh, ama taranlahoi kângairu patawpoung e kut dawk a pha han.
In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.
23 A von a paha lahun nah Cathut ni a lungkhueknae hmai hah ahni koe a tha poeh han. A ca lahun nah a lathueng vah lungkhueknae kho a rak pouh han.
[When] he is about to fill his belly, [God] shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain [it] upon him while he is eating.
He shall flee from the iron weapon, [and] the bow of steel shall strike him through.
25 Pala teh a phawk, a tak dawk hoi a tâco pouh. Loukloukkaang e a hmo hah hmue thung hoi a tâco. Takikatho poung e a lathueng vah a pha.
It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors [are] upon him.
26 Runae pueng teh ama hanelah pâtung lah ao.
All darkness [shall be] hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.
28 A im e hnopainaw hah be kahmat vaiteh, a lungkhueknae hnin dawk hnokahawinaw hah tui patetlah a lawng han.
The increase of his house shall depart, [and his goods] shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
29 Hetheteh Cathut koehoi tamikathoutnaw ni a coe hanelah ao. Cathut ni a coe hane râw a pouk pouh e doeh telah a ti.
This [is] the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
