Jeremiah 8
1 Hatnae tueng nah BAWIPA ni telah a dei, Judah siangpahrang hrunaw, vaihma hrunaw, profet hrunaw, Jerusalem tanminaw e hrunaw hah amamae phuen koehoi a thaw awh han.
At that time, saith the Lord, shall they bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves.
2 Ahnimanaw ni lungpataw teh thaw tawk pouh awh, a hnukkâbang pouh awh, a pacei awh teh a bawk awh e kanî hoi thapa hoi kalvan e âsinaw pueng hmalah a dan awh han.
And they shall spread them out before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked, and which they have sought, and to which they have prostrated themselves: they shall not be gathered up, and they shall not be buried; dung upon the face of the ground shall they become.
3 Kai ni ka pâlei e hmuen pueng koevah, hete tamikathout miphunnaw ni hringnae hlak duenae arawihnawn awh telah ransahu BAWIPA ni ati.
And death shall be preferable to life, for all the residue of those that are left of this evil family, who are left in all the places whither I shall have driven them, saith the Lord of hosts.
4 BAWIPA ni hettelah a dei tie hah ahnimouh koe dei pouh, taminaw tâlaw awh navah bout thaw awh hoeh maw, lam a payon awh navah bout ban awh mahoeh maw.
And thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath said the Lord, Shall they fall, and not arise? will he turn away, and not return?
5 Telah pawiteh, bangkongmaw hete taminaw ni hnuklah a kamlang awh, Bangkongmaw Jerusalem kho taminaw ni hnuklah meng a kamlang awh. Dumnae dawk a lungpen awh teh ban han ngai awh hoeh.
Why then remaineth this people, Jerusalem, rebellious by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast on deceit, they refuse to return.
6 A lawk khei ka thai nah, ahnimouh ni lawkkatang hah dei awh hoeh. A thoenae koehoi buet touh ni hai pankângai e awm hoeh. Kai bangmaw ka sak, ati awh. Tarantuk koe marang ka yawng e patetlah tami pueng ni lam a phen awh teh, amamae lamthung dawk koung a yawng awh toe.
I listened and heard, but they would not speak aright; no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned again to his course, as the impetuous horse in the battle.
7 Lathueng kamleng tavanaw ni patenghai a tue hah a panue awh teh, batuiling, bakhunaw, pingpitnaw, hoi tuicawmpainaw ni hai tho nahane a tue teh a panue awh. Hatei, ka taminaw ni teh BAWIPA e a kawnae hah panuek awh hoeh.
Yea, the stork in the heavens knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle, and the swallow, atad the crane observe the time of their coming home; but my people know not the ordinance of the Lord.
8 Bangtelamaw, kaimouh teh ka lungang awh, BAWIPA e kâlawk kaimouh koe ao na ti thai awh vaw. cakathutkungnaw e cacung ni laithoe a tawm sak awh toe hei.
How can ye say, We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us? Truly, behold in vain wrought the pen, in vain the writers.
9 A lungkaangnaw yeirai a phu awh han. Puen awh vaiteh, man lah ao han. BAWIPA e lawk a pahnawt awh toe, bangpatet lungangnae maw a tawn awh.
The wise men are ashamed, they are discouraged and caught, lo, the word of the Lord have they rejected; and what wisdom have they [now]?
10 Hatdawkvah, a yunaw hah tami alouknaw koe ka poe han. A lawnaw hai ayânaw koe ka poe han. Kathoengca koehoi kalenpoung totouh kahounlounnaw lah ao awh. Profetnaw hoi vaihmanaw hai laithoe koung a dei awh.
Therefore will I give their wives unto others, their fields to conquerors; for from the least even unto the greatest, every one is seeking his own gain: from the prophet even unto the priest every one practiseth falsehood.
11 Ka taminaw, ka canunaw e hmâ hah phouhoucalah a khet awh. Lungmawngnae kaawm hoeh e hah, lungmawngnae lungmawngnae atipouh awh.
And they heal the breach of the daughter of my people very lightly, saying, Peace, peace: when there is no peace.
12 Panuet ka tho e nuencangnaw dawk a kaya awh maw, kayak awh hoeh. Kayanae roeroe tawn awh hoeh. A minhmai patenghai paling awh hoeh. Hatdawkvah, ka rawm e taminaw koe a rawp awh van vaiteh, rek lah ao awh nah a rahim lah a bo awh van han telah BAWIPA ni ati.
They should have been ashamed, because they had committed abomination; but they neither felt the least shame, nor did they know how to blush: therefore shall they fall among those that fall; at the time of their punishment shall they stumble, saith the Lord.
13 A paw a khi awh e naw pueng ka la pouh han. BAWIPA ni ati. Misurkung dawkvah, misur paw awm mahoeh. Thaibunglung kung dawk a paw awm mahoeh, a hnanaw koung kamyai han. Kai ni ahnimanaw koe ka poe e hah bout ka la pouh han.
I will surely make an end of them, saith the Lord: [there shall be left] no grapes on the vine, and no figs on the fig-tree, and the leaf shall wither; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.
14 Bangkongmaw sut na tahung awh. Cungtalah kâracut awh vaiteh, rapan ka tawn e khopui dawk kâen awh sei. Haw vah cungtalah dout awh sei. Bangdawk tetpawiteh, maimouh ni BAWIPA koe yon awh toung dawkvah, BAWIPA maimae Cathut ni duenae sue na pânei awh teh, kahmakatanae koe na ta awh toe.
“Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be silent there; for the Lord our God hath put us to silence, and given us poison-water to drink; because we have sinned against the Lord.
15 Lungmawngnae ngaihawi awh ei, ahawinae tho hoeh toe, tak damnae ngaihawi awh ei, runae seng doeh kaawm toe.
We hoped for peace, but no happiness is here; for a time of cure, and behold here is terror.”
16 Tarannaw e marangnaw kâha lawk teh, Dan hoi a thai awh toe. Marangtannaw e a cai lawk ni ram thung pueng pâyaw sak awh toe. Ram hoi a thung e kaawm hnopueng hoi khopui hoi khopui thung kaawm taminaw pueng pâyaw hanlah a tho awh toe.
From Dan was heard the snorting of his horses; at the sound of the neighing of his war-steeds trembleth the whole land: and they are come, and devour the land, and all that filleth it; the city, and those that dwell therein.
17 Khenhaw! nangmouh koe, hrunthok, hrunthoe ka tha vaiteh, bangtelah hai ti thai lah kaawm hoeh e ni nangmouh teh koung na khue awh han, telah BAWIPA ni ati.
For, behold, I will send out against you serpents, basilisks, for which there is no charm, and they shall bite you, saith the Lord.
18 Oe ka lungmathoenae heh api nang ne karoum sak han. Ka thung vah ka lung sut a pout.
When I would cheer myself up against sorrow, my heart within me is pained.
19 Ram hlanae koe kaawm ka canu ka taminaw e a khuika lawk hah thai haw. Zion vah BAWIPA awm hoeh maw. Siangpahrang hai haw vah awm hoeh toung maw. Bangkong hetnaw ni sakhlawn e meikaphawknaw hoi miphunnaw e meikaphawknaw ni bangkongmaw ka lungkhuek sak awh.
Behold [I hear] the voice of the complaint of the daughter of my people [coming] out of a far-off land: “Is the Lord not in Zion? is her king no more in her?” “Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with the vanities of the stranger?”
20 Canga tue a loum toe, kompawi tue a khup toe, maimouh teh rungngang lah awm awh hoeh rah.
“The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not yet helped.”
21 Ka taminaw hoi ka canaw, patawnae hah ka hmawngkhai. Ka lungmathoe teh kângairunae ni khik na katek.
Because of the breach of the daughter of my people am I broken: I am grieved; astonishment hath taken fast hold on me.
22 Gilead vah hluk hane thingtapi awm hoeh maw. Haw vah tâsibawi awm hoeh maw. Bangkong ka taminaw ka canaw e a hmâ ahawi thai hoeh.
Is there no [more] balm in Gil'ad? or is no physician there? why then is there not placed a plaster [on the wound of] the daughter of my people?
